Yeah, that's why I said I still consider it rape, and consider that there was a lack of consent. Alcohol and physical intimidation were factors, but even she knew there was zero chance they'd be beating her to death with golf clubs, c'mon man....
She was in a room with 7 strangers and a man she just met that night, they coerced her for hours and wouldn't let her leave the room, asked her if she was going to the police... yeah, I can't figure out why she might have thought she could end up in a dumpster.

They did mention names (as taking leave) but did not say that the (named) players will be the ones surrendering to authorities.

ESPN (and their lawyers) wants you to connect the dots, not them.
ahh, I get it, thats too fine of a distinction to open it up yet. It would be a nightmare modding all the necessary phrasing to dodge liability.

If you go back into the thread far enough, you can find out which prominent former NHL person lawsuitted us, forcing me to be an asshole when I just want to watch the Kraken.

Where are you finding those details?

I’d have to imagine that one or more of the 3 bystanders and/or pizza guy is testifying, if just for damage control on their own career if/when it comes out

Because a traumatized woman wouldn't take stock of her surroundings and assess risks in the aftermath of the traumatic event? Because women who don't comply with their rapists have never been subjected to further violence?

There is a pattern of dismissiveness when it comes to sexual assault that includes downplaying the perception of threats and how they impact consent.
You very well could be right and she's at no fault of her own and I would never blame any girl for waiting a specific amount of time and granted I'm in my 40's so times have changed but I knew a lot of girls who would get drunk and do some really crazy shit and use being drunk as an excuse and I also saw a lot of douche bag guys do shady shit as well. None of us were there so obviously we will never know the truth but my mom used to tell my sister don't put yourself in a position that can lead to bad things like being the only girl with a bunch of guys you don't know and get blackout drunk. Again not excusing those dbags at all but it's easy to say that a girl who would have sex with a stranger in front of his friends may have also allowed other stuff to happen, it happened a lot that I saw first hand. In situations like those a girl or a guy can wake up the next day and have regrets or shame and it becomes he said she said and really hard to prove.

You are very gullible or a bad reader of the facts given .....if you believe the players were brandishing golf clubs and threatened the girl with said clubs.

The Globe and mail were just quoting the statement of fact the accuser lawyer wrote in the initial filing of a civil law suit against Hockey Canada. The laccusers lawyer that wrote that statement said there were golf clubs in the room , of course they were at a golf tournament,
it was reported by the Athletic in the Lazarus article that clubs were “brought into the room”

“These men allegedly slapped her. Spit on her. Ejaculated on her. Assaulted her. Brought golf clubs into the room, which just further intimidated her. Then filmed her giving her drunken consent after the fact.”

There’s a recently deleted post by another poster (perhaps yourself) that called out the fact this appeared in print. It does from last Thursday in the Athletic.

If women were to not put themselves in positions to be subjected to anything from sexual harassment to sexual assault, they wouldn't leave the house. And even then it's a crapshoot.

The only people culpable are the assailants. Full stop. Your mom gave your sister good advice, but that doesn't mean that a woman is at fault for men being unable to control themselves.

It’s a lot like ‘stranger danger’. Teaching kids not to take things from or go with strangers ever is very good advice. That said, abuse is most commonly committed by someone known to the child who they haven’t been told they shouldn’t trust

Acting responsibly and situational awareness is a fantastically useful but it’s not a fool proof recipe for avoiding harm

Unless this is all a dog and pony show to appease people that they tried their best to seek justice. I would expect the opposite, after this long they have probably havee strong evidence to proceed. I would also expect Hockey Canada's dirty laundry hasn't yet been fully exposed in all of this.
In which case, quite a few people will be sued into oblivion.

So player 1 had consensual sex with E.M. But then basically arranged the alleged assault.

Would he be one of the 5 players charged?

Add to that the Globe and Mail report stated that it is alleged that the players talked/joked about actually using the clubs during the “act”.

If true, I think anyone who states she 100% knew anything about her safety has never been in a truly dangerous situation of any kind whatsoever. Fear can manifest some pretty strong panic emotions.

There were plenty of details back when the story came out in 2022. There were court filings for search mandates that were available (maybe they still are) which detailed the case.

I don't really want to bother to look it all up for you, but you can find the info here and some screenshots of the court filings: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/ho...ation-complete-world-junior-players-1.6692955

While in total there were 8 players in the room at one time, Hockey Canada's investigation report found it "likely" that 5 players sexually assaulted the victim.
