Yeah, that's why I said I still consider it rape, and consider that there was a lack of consent. Alcohol and physical intimidation were factors, but even she knew there was zero chance they'd be beating her to death with golf clubs, c'mon man....
Because a traumatized woman wouldn't take stock of her surroundings and assess risks in the aftermath of the traumatic event? Because women who don't comply with their rapists have never been subjected to further violence?

There is a pattern of dismissiveness when it comes to sexual assault that includes downplaying the perception of threats and how they impact consent.

Does ESPN get to speculate? They name all five players in this article.

Lol. It’s funny isn’t it.

Some outlets read the tea leaves and realized that connecting these obvious dots wasn’t going to unleash the legal
hounds. It’s just shoes waiting to drop. Alex Formenton exhibit 1A.

Its actually comical with all the DO NOT SPECULATE warnings because everyone knows who it is, what is, it’s just tiptoeing for optics.

The article he linked to doesn't connect the obvious dots either.

It's not tiptoeing for optics. In general before you say someone is being charged with sexual assault, is it really that outlandish of an idea to wait until it's verified they're being charged with sexual assault?

Ok. Let’s chat after the Feb 3 London Police Service presser and update this exchange.

Why?

Assuming when the names of those being charged with sexual assault match those players that have taken leave that doesn't make it good policy to go around saying people have been charged with sexual assault before they actually have.

The article drops the 4 names of the most likely players. If we even suggest the idea of the names our post is taken down. I assume mine will be taken down soon but it’s pretty obvious who the 4 other names are. How much they are involved time will tell.

Right. So why is it such a problem? Time will tell.

All I can say is, regardless if she consented.... A gang bang is never good optics.
Team peen is a time honored tradition like ________ off on crackers with your best buds you just met

You can’t tell me that’s not normal, I need it to be normal

Between this and potentially allowing gay people on the team, hockey culture is under ¡attack!

Not a lawyer, but I don’t think that’s really an option. Well, it is, but it’s not a smart one. Canadian authorities will just apply to have them extradited, US officials have no grounds to deny the request, and they’ll be arrested all the same. It would be better for everyone involved if they just cooperate.

As a lawyer, would point out the alternative which is that the Canadian authorities could try the case against the U.S. defendants in abstentia, get a criminal judgment and then simply wait for them to come to Canada. Even if the defendants forever afterwards avoided Canada, the criminal conviction would of course end their NHL careers immediately, which is exactly why they will show up and defend.

No good possible outcome for these guys even IF they are proven innocent no NHL team is going to give them a shot. In 2024 nobody wants to take the backlash from the fans/media. Prison or KHL

Is this the same kind of thing that happened with Polanski or is this different because (I think) he’d already plead guilty but fled when the sentencing agreement was going to be rejected?

If a few eggs need destroying and the omelette ends up good, I hope everything is as humanly unpleasant as possible for the rest of the eggs' pathetic lives.

When I heard about that one in high school in the 90s was when I was glad my parents never had the money...
