I thought it was well done. Disappointing they won't do this next year. Should do something like this but better annually. Could help the Leafs brand transcend hockey and sport.

Okay just finished and it's very well done. I got down watching the ending too. In one way, I feel for the players and the ending was tough to watch. They were visibly devestated. On the other hand though, I'm angry considering they didn't play with nearly enough urgency in game 7 despite what they said before and during the game, so not sure being as sad as they were really counts.

I liked the meetings they had before and during games. Keefe doesn't let guys off the hook and the man is clearly passionate. Dubas goes off just like he is in the media. Very friendly but down to business.

I enjoyed it despite knowing the result. The JT incident was like it was happening right now. Seeing the players giving instructions to JT while he was down was surrreal. You felt like it became life threatening.

Spezza and JT are absolute beauties though. These guys deserve a cup more then anyone. Soupy is one of the nicest people also. He showed another side off him with the swearing in some parts.

By far the most frustrating part. You see how dejected they are and it's visibly clear that they do/say everything right in preparation, yet you re-watch the game and there's so many stretches of invisible, low intensity play that it's mind boggling. This market just shell shocks guys and they don't know how to execute under the pressure.

Rielly's intermission speech was also good to see. Clearly a natural leader, same with Spezza/Foligno/Tavares. Dialed up the urgency but too little too late.

Your reaction is why goalies get run out of Toronto. Goalies need to stop clean shots. A fluke save is great but asking a goalie to stop a 90 mph puck that changes directions half way through its course is ridiculous. Especially when it goes off your own player. It's pretty f***ing easy to blame a goalie when you as a coach havent taught your players to clear the lane properly.

It just shows how many people don’t understand goaltending. If you’ve never played the position you have no f***ing clue.

These guys have no idea how much of a save goes into everything before the shot and how a small deflection or angle change puts all that work out the window.

They are also clueless about the math - human reaction time is roughly 1/3 of a second, not including the time it takes to move body parts into position. You literally cannot react to shots within a certain distance traveling a certain speed.

It’s why reading the release is so important it buys you that extra .2 of a second you need to react. Which is why defensemen putting a stick out or half getting in the way of a shot enough to block the goalies view of the puck leaving the stick cause so many goals that look bad to the average viewer.

We get it. Doesn’t matter. Make one more stop than the other guy.

Goaltending is 90% positioning, 10% reacting.

Ugh.... or what about that "husky" defencemen that never seems to get out of your line of sight.....

Haha so you think that glove, blocker, pad saves all happen by going into a butterfly? You dont think that you have to react at all?
It just hits a goalie and thats it? Pipe down...

Humans simply cannot react fast enough to things like redirections a foot out from the net on a 90 mph puck which is why positioning is the most important thing for a goaltender. Do you even know why goalies go into butterfly or come way out of the net?

You're not doing the right things to prepare if you're not giving effort when it counts. It's a combination of not being able to move on from players who don't possess a winners mindset and frankly awful coaching that you let guys off the hook for giving no effort.

There's also this issue that has plagued the Leafs organization and this has nothing to do with Dubas or Shanny even, it's ownership. They feel the need to pat themselves on the back for being "first class". First class treatment should be earned. This organization should not be treating everyone with white gloves when the organization has been an embarrassment for the better part of four decades. This organization should more resemble people who get their hands dirty and are trying to earn the penthouse lifestyle. That mentality flows down and it's the reason these same players who don't give effort are paid like they are 5x Conn Smythe trophy winners before earning anything.

Oh boy....
Don't bother saying anything else.

Butterfly is to cut down on the trajectory utilizing the maximum amount of space considering that the puck has an upwards movement plane. but you still need to REACT to the shot. You can't just have the puck bounce off of you your body. Coming out of the net is to limit the amount of net the shooter has. You STILL need to react to the shot.

Positioning is critical. All other aspects of goaltending are critical too.

Babs may have had issues but he knew his Leaf teams needed to learn how to play playoff hockey. Too bad it is taking the guy who fired him this long to figure it out. We gonna find out soon if this new mix of players has what it takes.

you mean the guy that came in halfway through the year 2 years ago? Last season was his first season he was there from the beginning and he was preaching what they need to do to win playoff hockey?

Did not say anything about Keefe but it seems that he sees some of the flaws that need to be corrected. Hopefully he leans on them and gets them playing more playoff style hockey before the start of the playoffs.
