st. louis has been pretty much a complete and utter non factor...or in many cases, a negative player with bad giveaways.

pretty terrible trade thus far.

MSL is trying to do WAY too much on the ice. His lack of production has only amplified the situation.

Doesn't help that Marty has also been tasked w/ Richards as a linemate, as Brad isn't providing him with any additional space. I understand great players should make others around them better, but let's first try putting MSL in a place to succeed then try to transplant that success.

I hope MSL gets some time w/ Brassard shortly.

It's been 5 games bro.

It's not October bro. Any idea how awful this trade will look, after all we gave up, if MSL is not only NOT a factor, but we miss the playoffs as well?

He has a 20 game season for us this year. That is now 1/4th over. He needs to get his **** together literally immediately, or this team has a good chance at missing the playoffs. People have been pumpin' this team's tires for months, now we trade for a proclaimed superstar, and he needs to "find chemistry". **** that. Go score a goal man, like, TOMORROW. What ******* good does it do us if by the time he finds chemistry, we're already eliminated?

I'm tired of all the ****ing excuses for this team.

We haven't been playing St. Louis on the point for the PP, right? I'm pretty sure that's where he played for TB and that's where we have Richards slotted in. We might be better off splitting them completely, even on the PP. Then you have two units with one forward up top (kicking Girardi off of it, where he's terrible).

I've always liked Brassard playing with Nash, so I'd try Stepan centering St. Louis. Richards can have Zukes on his right, they had some chemistry early on.

Kreider-Stepan-St. Louis
Hagelin-Brassard-Nash
Pouliot-Richards-Zukes

It doesn't matter who we put on this ******* team. We could have Team Canada dressed in Ranger Blue and they still wouldn't ****ing score. That's The Ranger Way.

Everyone under performs on this ******* team.

Starting to think this may actually be true. There is literally some dark black magic curse on this team.

That being said, this board is so predictable in it's reactions to adversity.

So Glad we gave up that 2015 pick for him and his one point so far. maybe if we play 5-3 more often he will get a couple more points. What a waste. So know lets here from the crowd that asays it takes time to gel, blah, blah, while this team drops out of the playoffs.

1 point in 5 games is a disaster. Callahan has 3 points in 4 games with Tampa....

I'm fairly certain Callahan would have zero points in the last five playing in New York. The whole team has been bad. When St. Louis starts scoring I can't wait to see all the reeling and backpedaling.

Except Cally was not playing first line minutes or PP time!

I'm looking forward to this as well, I'll be happy to back pedal, but he's been flat out bad since his first shift pretty much. The dude has spent way too much time on his ass and doesn't look dangerous out there at all. Pretty bummed.

He'll be fine. We are having a bad stretch of games; it happens.

Yeah, but I think part of the hope was it'd be very difficult to have a full stretch of bad games with St. Louis added to the roster.

He'll score, but his play so far as been uninspiring. He's fighting the puck.

So far the only things I've noticed are the giveaways and him over-handling the puck on the power-play.

I'm sure he'll get better, but it'd be nice if he did it sooner rather than later.

Well, anyone who has watched this team over the past 20 years should know that's a pipe dream.

An adjustment period with MSL is to be expected. But I have so many concerns with the play of Nash, MSL, Lundqvist, it seems like the only argument we could have is that if all of them find their game consistently and finally go on a hot streak in the playoffs, we'll be in good shape.

But you compare the middle to lower playoff teams in the East to the West, it's scary. I don't think any Eastern team can have a huge hope of winning this year.

You don't trade a 1st, 2nd, and a rental for a guy that is nothing more than a passanger on the ride to a low playoff seed and and early exit.

It boggles my mind that anyone can think this is a remotely good trade.

I love MSL, and i love that he's on my favorite team, but i hate the circumstances under which he arrived here.

It defies explanation why so many players become shadows of their former selves when they put on a ranger uniform.
Perhaps those players were also a by-product of how they fit onto their former teams?

Hodgepodging together a roster based on who wants to come to the Rangers... building a team based on what they looked like on another team rather than asking how they will fit in with what is here might not be the best way to get the best out of a team of players.

If people want to lament the picks, that's one thing. That I completely understand. In my ideal world Callahan gets moved for a prospect and a pick. However it is the glorifying Callahan whilst beating everyone over the head with how well he has played in Tampa versus MSL here that is unbearable. Even if this team does fall off the cliff for the rest off the season there is no way MSL becomes a less valuable player than Callahan to either New York or Tampa Bay. The entire team has looked terrible and it is no surprise MSL has as well.

Are we reading the same board? The same threads?

This place is almost nothing but a collection of pessimists who never give this team the benefit of the doubt in any situation. The huge, huge majority of posts here are people tearing down the team and tearing down other posters who are entertained or pleased when the team isn't doing well.

There are excuses, which excuse bad behavior, bad performance, etc. and there are reasons, which explain bad things. I don't think anybody is making excuses for MSL, people are trying to guess what reasons there may be behind his struggles.

To me, it's pretty obvious. The entire team looks out of sync the past few games. MSL is still on a new team, and that team isn't doing well. That will slow down the process of adapting. Doesn't excuse his play, but it explains it a bit.

Call them "reasons" if you want, it doesn't make a difference to me. People have been calling me a 'doom and gloomer' for months, and now that I'm worried (and pissed) that this team might miss the playoffs, people say I'm overreacting.

And when it comes to meaningful discussions, I'll take actual criticisms over pumping the team's tires every time. Criticism is how you improve. People call us pessimists, but the reality is we want this team to be the BEST. Not good; Great. If wanting this team to have a realistic shot at a Cup makes me a "pessimist", fine, whatever.

The Rangers gave up chump change to add the previous Art Ross Trophy winner. Even if they don't make the playoffs, I still feel the next season is when we can assess the trade more accurately with the pick on the line.

Callahan was never going to re-sign here without that NMC and it's a blessing in disguise. As mentioned before, a 1st for the league's top scorer the previous year is a trade all playoff aspirant teams would do.

It's a risk that was needed to be taken IMO.

This team will never rebuild with Sather/Gorton at helm, so you can throw that thought out the window.
