Ill really give until next year to judge him fully but this year he looks like an average invisible 4th liner.

There has to be something in our water that negates hockey ability. The sample size is still small, and I believe he will return to form, but seriously, this is demoralizing.

The Rangers need to stop trading for players that I like. It's one thing watching players who I disliked (Holik, Gomez, Drury, Redden) come in and diminish as players, but seeing it happen to guys I really liked prior to their Rangers' careers (Richards, MSL) absolutely sucks.

:(

Really. You know how everyone says it's such a different place/scale on which to perform? I think 50% of guys get Robitaille Syndrome here, while 40% are just too timid to maintain... 5% are waiver-wire overachievers and 5% flat-out suck.

Yea, or, you know, we could just continue drafting and using the guys we only develop. We had some pretty decent performers then....

But hey, who am I to say anything. Sather and Co. are these brilliant hockey minds, right?

In a vaccuum, you make the trade for St. Louis every time. Callahan wasn't being brought back. The picks are lottery tickets.

Two assists in seven games is just Ranger luck. MSL is having a hard time finding his niche on this team. They'll find the right combination eventually. I would try Nash and MSL together with Brassard up the middle.

Zucc got a mission...fix MSL. They'll probably give him 2-3 more games to get the job done.

Deja vu all over again regarding The Big 3

NYR Record since the St Louis trade
3 - 3 - 1
All three of these losses were lowscoring, one goal games that could/should have given a point in a team desperate for a playoff spot

Just collect the hefty checks once a month
Yupp - the Country Club is back...

Can wait for hf boards in 2016. We have no franchise player, we have no center, we have no one that can put the puck in the net. Oh wait Tampa just used our lottery first round pick to get that exact guy! Glad we were a win now team in 2014!

You don't make that trade everytime. You find a way to keep Cally and get St Louis, and move other guys.

Not to open this can of worms again, but you'd seriously want Callahan for 6 years at north of 6 million scoring 35-40 points and playing middle six ES minutes? And you want to trade prospects from our already shallow prospect pool to make your proposal happen?

Blows my mind.

I get that St. Louis has had a rough start, and I want Sather gone as much as the next guy, but I understand why Sather did the deal. We gave up 20 games of Callahan and draft picks for a top 20 player in the league. St. Louis will find his groove.

But he hasn't done well in his first 7 games. It's all over now.

The franchise needs to stop making deals in a vacuum. Keep making deals in a vacuum and you wind up sucking.

Like it or not, our GM seems to think we can contend. Was it the right move? It's a risk for sure, but doing the deal gives us a better chance to win and extend the window, and it was fair value at that. The Rangers can make other moves to compensate for the futures lost by the time the picks we gave up would be ready to make an impact.

The analogy did make me laugh, though, well done :)
