It was St Louis's worst game for us, but to be fair most of the rest of the team was just as bad.

I know four games is a small sample size, but we paid a premium to have St Louis here the rest of this season, and the rest of the season was only 20 games total at the time of the trade. Time to produce.

It will be an absolute disaster of a trade if they do not make the playoffs. You can't sacrifice the future for the present, and then have the present turn into nothing.

Agree. And then not buying out Richards would add insult to injury.

Time we don't really have. There are 16 games left.

That's a risk you always take when you trade for someone at the deadline.

He's had one really good game, one really poor game and two decent games. Not what you expect from a top five scorer in the league, but I'm sure he won't take too long to get going. The amount of talent this dude possesses is just extraordinary.

Playing him with Richards isn't doing him any favors. I'd try him with Brass.
Kreider - Brassard - MSL
Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Pouliot - Richards - Zuccarello
Boyle - Moore - Carcillo

Maybe swap Hags and Pouliot to get some more skill and size with Stepan and more physicality with Richards.

It wasnt a necessary trade. They needed a big center and/or a puck mover.

I'll bet the farm MSL does not improve the team's GPG as it stood the day the trade was made.

I know the staff wants to play him with Richards, and that's fine and all, but we need to see who else he could have chemistry with. Kreider and MSL would be a good thing, and Kreider could use some veteran influence instead of Nash and Stepan who probably couldn't walk an old lady across the street, let alone guide a youngster toward reaching his potential.

Kreider Richards MSL could even work.

Maybe throw Zucc with MSL and watch the play making spectacle.

Either way you slice it, some of these lines just simply do not work. Our first line in particular.

I'm willing to give him plenty more time to find chemistry with his new teammates. That being said, given this franchise's history I wouldn't be surprised if he never scores a goal again.

There's no reason for St. Louis and Richards to be stapled together at the hip. This isn't 2004. Switch it up. Try him with Stepan and Brassard. Both of those guys are better than Richards at this point.

Agreed with Richards and MSL not having to be paired. Richards brings down every line he's on. He sucks when he's not on the PP.

So glad to see Callahan has more points then St. Louis so far since the trade. Callahan can say hi to all his friends from NY when they go to TB to watch him in the playoffs after the Ranges miss the playoffs.

st. louis has been pretty much a complete and utter non factor...or in many cases, a negative player with bad giveaways.

pretty terrible trade thus far.

I understand there are some chemistry problems. Should try to put him on the Zucc line, but then you got the problem with two smurfs on the same line. I dunno.

Don't get why Richards is still at center. Call up Miller, shift Richards to wing and figure out the lines from there.

So far?

Far, far worse than I expected. I don't know what the deal is.

What can you expect? St.Louis is 40 years old in a couple of years, I bet he's a little tired and confused.

Trading away our captain for a fallen star is one thing, but doing it in the middle of a huge playoff race was just a stupid move by the GM.

Fallen star? The guy won the Art Ross last year and was a point per game player this season before being traded here.

This team is cursed. I'm shocked Nash and Gaborik had good seasons here. For most players they come here and suck. Sick of it. Being a Rangers fan just ****ing blows.

Deja vu all over again - Big 3 better wakeup

It's been 5 games bro.

Regardless of how few games - the regular season window is closing and fast...

NYR Record since the St Louis trade
2 - 2 - 1
Both losses were lowscoring, one goal games

11 goals scored - 10 goals against

MSL 5 GP - 0 G - 1 A - 1 Pt - 0,2 PPG pace (before trade 62 GP - 29 G - 32 A - 61 P - 1,00 PPG)
Rash 5 GP - 1 G - 2 A - 3 Pts - 0,6 PPG pace (before trade 40 GP - 19 G - 10 A - 29 P - 0,725 PPG)
Beaver 5 GP - 0 G - 1 A - 1 Pt - 0,2 PPG pace (before trade 62 GP - 16 G - 28 A - 44 P - 0,71 PPG )
TOTAL 15 GP - 1 G - 4 A - 5 Pts - 0,33 PPG pace (before trade 164 GP - 64 G - 50 A - 134 Pts - 0,82 PPG)

The Big 3 need to step it up NOW and start producing or we can kiss the playoffs goodbye
Which might be a good thing if it meant Sather is gone ("retires"?)
These 3 good ole Canadian boy forwards have a caphit of over $20 M and of course make even more
They need accountability and a ****ing wakeup call to fathom the urgency
Or is the Country Club back for good?

It's really bumming me out. He was one of my favorite players, instead he looks like another bum now that put on a Rangers jersey. We've become a worse team with him.

Making a judgment on the deal we made now is a little nonsensical since it hasn't even been a month but I do agree the lines should be switched up a little bit. I'd like to see this in our top 9:

Kreider-Stepan-MSL
Hagelin-Brassard-Nash
Pouliot-Richards-Zuke

Divides up the size and skill through 3 lines. I wouldn't be opposed to moving Miller to 3rd line C, either. Then you move Richards to wing, where he looked better earlier this year. Pouliot/Hagelin could spend time on the 4th line until they produce.

Fallen star? The guy won the Art Ross last year and was a point per game player this season before being traded here.

That was with Tampa, doesn't mean he'll continue like that here. Coming into a new unknown organization he has to kind of start all over again, and he obviously has problems finding his place in the lineup. Im not sure he's motivated.
