Nash - Richards - St. Louis
Kreider - Stepan - Zuccarello
Hagelin - Brassard - Pouliot

That's the top 9 I'd like to see.

I want to have a legit goalscorer on the Richards & St. Louis line. St. Louis can score but he prefers and mostly looks for the pass.

Kreider is growing into the role as a scorer but he's too inconsistent as of now IMHO. And on the 2nd line he gets easier matchups and he still has Stepan and Zucc who can set him up.

Hagelin doesn't have the offensive instincts/finishing ability to play with Richie and Marty IMO.

I don't like the idea of demolishing the lines and playing guys on their off wings.

Hagelin and MSL should not be playing together, and Kreider and Nash should not be playing together.

I guess AV is trying to create different looks, but both Kreider and Nash could use a kick in the ass on their other wing to get their feet moving.

Kreider only played 9 minutes last night, hopefully the benchings turn his game around.

I think MSL should be with Stepan and Kreider. He needs a finisher, not Hagelin.

Kreider needs to move his feet and initiate contact. With his size, speed, and shot, it should be so easy to be a good player.

Unfortunately, like Nash, he has a propensity to float.

Yep, MSL is a playmaker first and foremost. He's elite enough to put the puck in the net when the team needs goal scoring help, but his bread-and-butter is the passing game. I like the idea of getting Kreider or Miller with him. I'd keep MSL and Nash separate because Nash is a puck-carrier, if for no other reason than the fact that they're both RWers.

It's amazing that he only has 4 more assists than Richards. For all the **** that BR gets, considering that his skills did in fact diminish the guy has really made the most of it this year. Richards all things considered has been great this year. Of course relative to where his skills are now, he's not a "great player".

Nash has played LW a lot though... not as much as RW but he can still play there. Or are you talking about handiness? Meh.. in videogames sure. Otherwise it doesn't matter that much too be honest. Him and St. Louis can switch wings etc.

And btw when was the last time Nash scored a one-timer? Lol.

Was a one-timer ever in Nash's arsenal? He took a slapper yesterday and I was shocked. He shoots slappers almost as rarely Nedved did.

Exactly my point. So he might as well play LW. I don't believe Marty has got LW XP. But Nash does... we need a scorer on that line. St. Louis would make that scorer so much more efficient.

He's only got 2 more assist than Stepan, too, which is kinda crazy. Despite seemingly not playing well, and despite drawing the ire of some fans (myself included at times) Step is putting up a lot of points this year. He's very likely to hit 40 assists.

Marty has played most of the season with two great rookies which is normal for him to have more goals and less assist. Stamkos was hurt and it takes away a lot of his assists.

Which is interesting because if he followed his career trend he'd have 60 points, which are probably borderline #1 center point totals. Stepan is not a bad player. He's just not what he was last year and goes quiet too often. Also this isn't Richards last year who had one great month where he was getting fluke points in buckets.

To be fair playing with Stamkos almost artificially inflates his stats. There's one other player that could get him those types of assist totals and that's Ovechkin.

Marty always had more assists than goals, that didn't matter who he played with, Brad Richard, Vinny Lecavalier or Stamkos. Having to play with rookies made him shoot more and have more goals. Marty excels in one timer, need to make sure that the pass are in the right spot.

If someone goes to the next game, could you check if he has someone give him a pass for a one timer at the end of the warm up. Also could you check his routine when coming on the ice for the game, it's pretty funny I think plus he has two different routine, it depends if he is part of the starting line up or not. You know that right away because he will sit in the middle of the bench which is the only time that he sits there. Normally Marty will sit at the end of the bench on a chair so his feet can touch the ground.

I didn't meant that to downplay MSL's numbers, as much as to point out that Step's are way better than I thought they were.

Never thought you did, was just pointing out that Stamkos was missing and it made a big difference in his assist, but not point total, about the same as usual

Just noticed, this disgrace to the human race has 7 points in the last 5 games. You'd think he just went 30 games with no points with the way people post about him.

I think the major issue that people might have with Stepan is theres basically zero flash to his game. Very solid player.

Also because he's in a role that really isn't suited for his game, at least not at the moment. He seized the first line center role last year, but he has regressed to his 2C form - and he is being put in the role of 1C. He's still a solid player, but people make it as if regressing automatically equals bad, which is stupid.

He's hot right now. 7 points in his last 5 games.

But, remember, he sucks!

Sorry, couldn't resist the urge. :D

As for MSL, I think he's the 2nd best Rangers forward this decade behind Jagr.

The Rangers have had an abundance of big name RWers the past decade. To note, Gaborik, Nash, Jagr, Callahan and MSL and all played RW.

I wonder if it's crossed Sather's mind to trade for LeCavelier this offseason. Joe mentioned during broadcast against the Flyers that they were having trouble using leCavelier because of the fact that he is a natural C, but he's getting played on LW due to a logjam at C for Philly

4 more years @ $4.5m for Vinny and he hasn't played a full season since 09-10. Hopefully Sather stays far away, I'd almost rather just keep Richards for the duration and I do NOT want to keep Richards
