What about Dean Evason or he too much of a negative with the offensive side?
I don’t think he’s bad, but not sure if he’d stifle offense.

Goalies usually played better under him, other than before he was fired this year.

But he was a stunod with favoring Fleury over Gustavsson last year. Gustavsson was having a really good year (probably better than he really was) and he kept playing Fleury at least as much and more at one point. Fleury had about league average numbers last year (a credit to Evason), but I’m pretty sure his underlyings were trash. While Gustavsson had Vezina contending numbers, but played too few of games to get any consideration, because he had to sit for a declining and bad Fleury. That was on Evason. And when Hynes took over the Fleury stuff stopped, until Gustavsson got injured and he had no choice but to play Fleury.

Would he stifle offense here? I’m not sure. We certainly have more offensive talent though.

Fire Lindy. Fire Green.
Get a coach who is energetic and plays to players strengths than to a fixed system (Meier RW, Jacko C,…).
Trade Bratt if possible or Holtz cus both are soft, get a bone crushing D that toughens this boys club up.
Hire the best goalie coach in the league no matter what cost and develop Schmiddo, Dawsy cus their raw talent is good enough.
Do not trade for a goalie >30, we‘ve tried that…

Lower beer prices by 50% as a way to say sorry

Bratt has arguably been the toughest Devil to play against this year. Ridiculously strong on his skates, winning board battles, shaking off defenseman that have 30+ lbs. on him. He is the last guy I want to get rid of.

Novo is going to end up getting the Torts treatment of not ever getting his questions answered like that idiot Flyers reporter that started the "Kevin Hayes got Gauthier to leave" rumor lol
Which sucks, because he’s the only guy that really has shown to put any kind of “Pressure” on Ruff or the organization. So I’m not sure who Ruff was talking about with that, considering the only real guy to put any potential pressure on anybody wasn’t even allowed to speak during that presser.

He’s only been here two years and he’s pretty young. I don’t even think he’s 25. He can’t be any older than that.

Ruff probably just thinks of him as some dumb kid who has no right to be in there.

Radio silence. All good in Devils land.

Tough season, lots of injuries. We'll run it back next season.
I don’t think so.

Although a nice finish, which still falls short of the playoffs might save some people.

The fans have the potential to really get rabid this weekend. Even against Tampa on Sunday, despite the fact that they aren’t a cream of crap special like Montreal.

A nice finish which falls short of the playoffs isn’t a thing. If we have a nice finish from this point out we’re in the playoffs. That’s how close we still are.

Best realistic case with Ruff still here for the season is that they just slide in and lose in a competitive first round so we’re not a laughing stock. But Fitz loses some faith in Ruff and decides to find a new coach in the off-season.

Every single game you give me extra is another loss

This team might win tomorrow, hell they might win on SUnday too. But when we need it most, the long term success and hopefully one day championships will never come under Lindy

After the embarrassment that was the last two games we may actually blow the Habs all the way back to Quebec tomorrow afternoon, but there’s always another dud or two in store.

I would be really shocked if we didn’t lose at least one of the San Jose or Anaheim games next week.

The Lightning may also wake up from their recent slumber and torch the f*** out of day 2 in a row Daws, which I’m sure is what’s gonna happen in regards to the goalie rotation this weekend.

I don’t think there will be a goalie rotation this weekend. I really hope I’m wrong, but I’ll be at least somewhat surprised if Daws doesn’t go both days.

I think you underestimate how hard it is to make up ground. This team would have to start winning like 2 out of every 3 games consistently to really have a chance, and that's something they haven't shown through 56 games. Maybe the new coach bump does it, but I have doubts. Doesn't mean we shouldn't fire Ruff, but I just think this team doesn't have it this season. I'd love to be wrong though.

Didn't the oilers do really good after letting him go?
The oilers started to get saves. The offense was pretty much the same. They just had nothing saving pucks in net.

this team has only had one 2 game winning streak in the last month. Hasn't won 3 in a row in 2 months.

I think the team doesnt have it because ruff constantly coaches them badly and into being down.

I do think there's a pretty good chance that even if we run it back with Lindy next year, we can make a few upgrades, definitely in goal, tweak some things and be a really good team again. The expected save percentages next year may be more in line with league average or better than league average, as they have been for most of his time here. This year being the aberration.

There are things that I'm skeptical will ever be really good under him, like the power play. The only year the power play was somewhat good under him was with Brunette last year. It sucked in 20-21, it was the worst in the league in 21-22 in expected goals and I think even in percentage? And it's 23rd in expected goals and 14th in percentage this year, only riding the scorching hot (unsustainably hot start) start to the season. I think the best the power play was in goals expected was 8-10 through some point in November. It's probably been 32nd in expected goals since then or maybe 30-31 at best.

However, I think it's time to give it up with him. If not after this season, then when else is he gonna go? If we miss the playoffs or start poorly next year? If we make the playoffs but don't win another round by 2026 or 2027? At what point do you say when? I think next year is as good of a time as any. Take the financial loss on paying him and consider it a gold watch/retirement gift.

I think you’re overestimating how hard it would be. A couple wins more than our current pace. We were a .683 team last season, are currently a .536 team right now and would realistically have to go .600 or slightly higher the rest of the way. Not even a 2 out of every 3 pace which we were over last year. We could literally win both games this weekend and be 1 point back with 2 games in hand (in a playoff spot by points percentage). We’re still extremely close. A couple loses this weekend and it’s looking pretty hard pretty quick.

I don’t think anyone would consider our current pace or anything under .600 to be a nice finish. So, as I said if we have a nice finish from here we’ll be in the playoffs.

We should absolutely fire Ruff but I don’t see them doing it yet. If we lost both games this weekend it starts to become a possibility.

Would you believe our PP is the same this year than last? We are rank lower league wide this year but our PP% is basically the same.

this year we are 15th in the league in PP% with 22%

Last year we were 13th in the league with 21.9%

Difference being we went from a historically good PP performance in the first 2.5 months to a historically bad PP since. Never seen anything like it. This might be what those Roman commercials are all about

Jack started the season on fire. He has 23 PP points and I don't know but I bet the majority of those came before December.

Teams adjusted by overloading the blue line. Devils haven’t made the appropriate changes.
But entries haven’t been the problem. We’ve been able to get in the zone and setup but they can’t do anything from there and make stupid decisions.
