Nurse isn't a very good offensive option. And I certainly wouldn't classify him as a defensive whiz. So, the question becomes, what is he? A good skater, and a big body. But he does seem to have issues trying to go against other big bodies too many times, and his decision making in general seems to be head scratching even at this stage in his career. He is now a veteran with lots of games under his belt. I wish he'd play like one, but I just can't see it.
Big miniutes player, grear stamina is his calling card. Though, isnt great in other areas, is overall average to above average in the rest part od the game. He is a #2, or a weak #1 D. Barrie is 1 dimensional #2 , or a#3 with complimentary D needed. Ceci and Barrie could been a pairing, if someone could go offside.

Nurse could need a stability D. If they get EK65, one D of Barrie and Ceci should go. Ek65 is pretty much targeted because Barrie wasnt what they needed. Maybe both go, but that looks weak. Cwci coumd be reborn as a #4 D. Bouchard should go, but the cap doesnt work if so.

This guy has had nearly 4 years to improve the team and has not done diddly f***ing squat.

Are you ready for him to trade a 1st + 2nd for Lafferty and Edmundson, because that's what you're getting not some Karlsson or Chychrun pipedreams.

To be fair. He is the guy that signed every contract we have now except McDrai. So, he's been BUSY at least :)

Sadly, we only have pennies of cap and loads of dead weight still and now he's stuck, very likely to piss off McDrai with a pitiful deadline.

The fact that we’re tenuously holding onto a wildcard spot nearly 3/4 of the way into the season, with career offensive years from our top 4 forwards, is a clear indictment on the overall failed job Holland has done.

If barely making the playoffs with the best player the planets seen in 30 years whose in his prime is Hollands measuring stick then he can get the f*** off the bus anytime.

Vegas has massive injuries and still wins.
LA rebuilt in a fraction of the time we did with no goaltending and still wins.
Seattle’s second year in the league FFS with a cobbled together lineup and still wins.

If it weren’t for Sutter kicking Calgary’s top players in the nuts every night they’d be ahead of us as well.

We’ve been embarrassed by Vancouver, Anaheim, Montreal, Philly, LA, recently Detroit and dropped a 4–1 lead to the Rangers. We’ve gassed so many games this year that we’d easily be in first place with those points.

Can’t win in OT. Can’t win in the SO. Can’t win at home. Can’t get solid consistent goaltending. Can’t get solid defensive play from our stars. Can’t PK to save our lives. Can’t trade our $3M boat anchor. Can’t dress a full lineup.

Holland can take the idiot we have coaching by the hand and they can both jump off a cliff.

It's easy to rant, but do you have a solution if we fire Holland? He's done a few things right, signing Hyman, Kane, Ceci, Kulak, drafting Holloway and others with potential. but badly set the team back on Campbell, Zegras, 2 wasted 2nds, Koskenen for 4 years and overpay on Nurse. Will a new GM be any better?

I used to be a staunch supporter of his but he has failed in 2 of 3 critical areas and his legendary patience is hurting this team. Improving our D and improving our goaltending he has utterly failed. Improving our forward depth it appears some headway is being made but you’d think that is the easy part. After all several teams that started their rebuild 3 years ago or didn’t even exist now have far better forward depth than we do.

Yes we lost Klefbom and Larsson. He didn’t achieve a permanent solution on the left side where career #3 LD Kulak is our #2 LD. He could have had Chicago retain on Kieth but said he didn’t want to pay a draft pick to so - yet draft picks are just magic beans we don’t need in 97/29s prime with their contracts waning.

On the right he soft pedaled with Larsson giving him far too long to decide if he were resigning here, and when he didn’t the quality RD were gone.

Goaltending is arguably worse today than it’s been since he took over. Again he didn’t want to pay the price with Phoenix to secure the goaltender that took Colorado to the cup, nor was he willing to pay the price to move out Koskinen.

His qualifying and patience with PJ is inexcusable. Signing Kassian, Foegele and Yamo to $3M per year multi year deals is inexcusable.

Hyman and RNH were good signings. Despite his great year last year we didn’t need a Kane, his $5M should have gone towards a top middle pairing D. Our problem is preventing goals not scoring them.

I don’t know who may be better but for $5M per year preaching patience to this fan base with 97/29 in their prime and contracts setting is completely tone deaf.

Perhaps for the first time ever the Oilers could actually conduct a professional search and not hire the name du jour - but that’s not how Bobby Nicks rolls.

I’m not going to say fire Holland yet, but these last 2 games are totally on him as a a manager.

Ice a full lineup
Legit the first time I ever recall an NHL team icing a 17 player lineup for multiple games in a season. We did it for freaking opening night of all things. Mind boggling how badly the cap was botched.

Especially so given how painlessly Holland got out of the Kassian fiasco contract.

Cost us a draft pick if I recall. Not exactly painless.

Painlessly and painless definition: causing little or no pain.

You don't even remember the trade, but chirped me as a result of your lack of understanding of the word painless.

Are you going to complain about me being a dick because I used the correct definition of the word painless?

Whatt???? Show me where I said it was painless. Painlessly =/= painless. You do understand those are two different words.

ffs, did I do something to piss you off? Are you picking a fight because you are angry?

Find somebody else.
Two different words that mean the same thing.

You said it was done painlessly. Do you know what that means?
"If something happens painlessly, it doesn't hurt at all."
Painlessly - Definition, Meaning & Synonyms In other words, no pain.

Well , getting rid of Kassian, hurt to the tune of losing a draft pick. Which would provide some non-literal pain.

I'm not angry, but it seems you are.

You accused me of starting fights with others. Then contributed to dueling definitions of the word painless.

Your pedantic and juvenile behaviour is absolutely a manifestation of anger. At least you didn't resort to the juvenile attempt to bring other posters into this ... again.

Thanks for confirming what I just said, That painlessly and painless mean the same thing. "Causing little or no pain"

You said the Kassian trade was done painlessly.

But it wasn't, as we all know, as it cost us the pain of a draft pick.

Yes, the price paid to dump Kassian was little pain. Before you continue this argument over the definition of little pain, maybe take the time to look up what the Kassian trade involved.

Tell me again i'm the one being a dick. lol
