The Othmann pick was exactly what Ranger fans have been asking for, for years!

"Go BPA!"
"Don't reach!"
"Don't settle for need"

Othmann is exactly that. BPA.
I not sure that reads true for me. In a wishy washy draft year with a small games played sample size there is no way to say Othmann was the BPA.
Putting that aside, my main point was that if we had received Robertson and a first in a Kreider trade then the situation would have been different at this years draft. There was a Swedish Goalie that the general con census was technically NHL ready or trade down and recoup the pick we lost in the Staal trade and throw the dice with the extra pick.
I’ll turn this back on you. With a team that wings include Panarin, Buchnevich, Kaapo, Lafrenier, Robertson (from Dallas), Kravtov and Gauthier do you still draft Othmann. That’s would just be the known value. We will never know who that Dallas 1st round pick would have been.

Libor Hajek makes the team over K’Andre Miller, that was his old number
I think your half joking? Miller needs to go to the A, where the team hires a Crash Davis (Referencing movie: Bull Durham) type .
Bring Adam McQuaid out of retirement and have him partner and mentor the kid in the physical aspect of the game.
The team is only doing Miller a disservice my allowing him to start the season with the big club.

Just play the regular lineup in preseason games 5 and 6, they have so many days off before the opener anyways.

That's usually how pre-season works. Games 1-4 are for experimenting, with the final 2 games being closer to the starting line-up, with just a bunch of fringe players fighting for the remaining 1 or 2 spots.

We would have drafted #14 (Dallas) and #15 (NYR). A foundation for a package that likely either would have gotten us a Top Ten Center in the draft directly or that young Center that we are looking for elsewhere.
Bleh

LAF - ZIB - BUCH
Bread - YOUNG TOP 6 Center - K2
Robertsson - Goodrow - ONE OF KRAVTSOV/CHYTIL (ONE TRADED FOR 2C)
FREE AGENT (INSTEAD OF BLAISÉ) - NEW RELIABLE 4C (VIA ASSETS FOR A STROME TRADE) - REAVES/HUNT
AND CAP SPACE
WHATVER...

They looked unbelievably bad. Completely chaotic and disorganized.

Don’t see how Jones doesn’t make this team. Who the hell should make it over him?

Really hoping Goodrow looks like a completely different player in the reg season. Right now he looks like he was represented by Jordan Belfort this offseason. He’s not even been an effective grinder which I assumed was the bare minimum.
You know who.

Robertsson? I don't think he's NHL ready yet, although he was one of my favourites going into this draft.

Whoops! I thought you were talking about Simon Robertsson from Sweden there. The double S got me.

I remember we started last year with Lindgren-Trouba. We had memes about it. That means Miller was with somebody else.

Then Quinn had one of his f***ing ideas, it was diarrhea, and the entire New York Rangers millieu gaslit itself into thinking it was a revelation. Y'all wild.

Um, Gallant has Miller with Trouba. Quinn was let go.

Probably, because Fox isn't really an offense defenseman. We're too caught up with size.

If Trouba were 5 inches shorter, he'd be DeAngelo (on the ice). He couldn't find his own zone if you taped a picture of it to Donnie's bowl.

Fox is an outstanding offensive defenseman who happens to be an outstanding defensive defenseman.

Glorified scrimmages....no point in losing any sleep at this stage . Gallant has already placed the emphasis more on his last two pre-season games....which they could still lose both of and not a big deal as it's all about having a look at certain things more so than wins and losses . I think we also easily enough could lose half of our first 20 games as he works his way through the roster . It won't be a surprise.....this club has a lot of kids and they are being counted on by us fans to fill these holes that are huge at the NHL level and that takes time .

In the meantime...for those getting upset...I suggest going and doing some early Christmas shopping and take your mind off of the first quarter . It might not be pretty .

Telling people here to learn how to lose like adults is honorable but a lost cause.

"I'm losing faith in Gallant." (Hasn't coached an official game for us yet.)
"Bag skate them until they puke." (Never mind that pesky CBA.)

And people ask me why they never see me around here anymore. :(

My positives for this game

Schneider was good and steady
If Gauthier could play like he did the first half of the game all the time he'd be hard to cut, unfortunately the 2nd half is also him where he's lost in his own end, like everyone else I guess.
I liked the short bit we saw of Kravtsov, if he's out long term I'd actually like to see Pajuniemi get a shot, his play isn't super but his shot is intriguing and maybe there's more once he gets comfortable.
Thats all i could get from this game, Lundkvist needs some seasoning, Barron though reliable isn't separating himself. Hunt never looked like he did his first game, and Jones was good and bad in the same night.
It also seems like we found the whipping boy in Blais, i didn't think he stood out one way or the other really, kinda what you expect for a vet in preseason.

I guess I am the hater, but I don't think Miller keeps his head above water lomg before one of the D prospects knocks him out of the lineup. There's just alot going on there that needs work.

At this stage, we are all just hanging on "potential" for K'Andre. His size and skating leave us conjuring up a dominating D on both ends of the ice. Unfortunately, he doesn't play anywhere near that potential. He looks slow-footed and indecisive. He makes poor reads and is out of position far too often. (side note: appreciate Adam Fox for making it all look so easy).
So, what to do? If they care about winning and the kid's development, they would start him in Hartford, because right now, he isn't an NHL caliber defensemen.
