Results are results. I don't know shit about goaltending, but someone should take responsibility for the Oilers goaltending being so lackluster and it's crazy Schwartz has had his job for so long.

Don't worry Schwartz has just barely got his claws into Skinner, he will get worse and worse as time goes on.

So Soupy struggling and Skin playing incredible and Schwartz coaches both of them.
Wouldn't Skinner be proof that perhaps Schwartz is actually a good goalie coach ?

Skinner is the young prospect whereas players like Smith, Koskinen and Campbell came here as older more established players. It is possible that Skinner is simply the first very good raw material that Schwatz was handed

Schwartz not the problem with the goal tending performances, whether it's their individual ability, or the team D behind them.

Glad to see Skinner showing that the goalie's skill makes them, moreso than who coached them.

You mean the same guy who has been coaching Skinner for before he was drafted by Edmonton? Damn how long does a guy have to coach someone before they get their claws into them? 10 years?
Seriously ? I didn't know that Skinner and Schwartz go that way back.

It was funny hearing the Oilers are missing Smith's puck handling ability after Skinner's fumbles, yet they did mention Skinner was solid so far this year.

Sounds exactly like Smith.

Difference is smith would essentially break up every single dump in by the other team. It’s not even close to the same. Now our D are struggling with the forecheck of other teams down low and our forwards are not used to the extra responsibility of supporting them.

I know this has been beaten to death. But seriously how does this guy still have employment after goaltending has litterally been are worst position ever since he became an oiler(and frankly long before aswell TBH)

Pretty much every coach, manager and trainer has been replaced over the last 9 years except Schwartz.

What is going on?

Why are you not using the old thread?
You actually think Campbell is in any way on Schwartz? If so, funny.

Did I say Campbell was on Schwartz? I said how does a guy keep his job where the position he is in charge of has litterally been the weakest and worst position since he has been employed by the organization??? Esp when every other position has been changed and or replaced....

Does anyone have a link to the post about how goalies have performed poorly after Schwartz got hold of them? Having issues with Safari and Chrome right now and search is working for me.

I mean....if you ran this team like a business your scouts would get turned over and Schwartz would be gone. You can't have terrible results for this long.

Part of the problem though is this is not a franchise that puts an organizational emphasis on the position. Look back at how many drafts since Dubnyk and look how many 1st and 2nd round goalies we had access to and didn't draft. At this point I definitely blame Schwartz but this team needs be run with a constant plan and part of that is using a 1st or second every 3-5 years on a goalie and being aware of when to use them. If I was Edmonton I'd be book marking the 2025 draft for D'Aigle and saying our top pick is going to him similar to how Gibson, Askarov and Wallstedt just off the top of my head should've been pencilled in as our first pick of either of those drafts. Look ahead, identify a target, commit to drafting that player regardless of situation

Not one goalie has gotten markedly better with this team and almost all of them have gotten worse.

The reason he is still here? The guys making the decisions know nothing at all about goalie coaching.

In any case as I've harped on often, goaltending these days and how it is coached up is just awful awful awful.

There are about 5 good goalies in this league.

Do not come out to cut off the angle, go down on your knees as soon as the puck cross the line and stay there, just try to take up space, forget about using the athleticism that go you this far.

Must be tough for Oiler fans this year. Skinner good!(worked with Schwartz for years), Campbell bad(has worked with Schwartz for maybe 2 or 3 months and was up and down last year with the leafs)

Oiler's defense is terrible and Campbell can barely track the puck in games like he's perpetually recovering from hangovers, but yeah, the goalie coach is the problem
