Schwartz has somehow outlasted all of:

Eakins
Nelson
McLellan
Hitchcock
Tippet

I've never quite understood the infinite leash he's always had.
he gets paid 500.00 a week . McDonalds wages and as such you have to expect mistakes. :sarcasm:

Well I thought it was fitting considering he is Skinner's main offseason goaltending coach and we can all see how Stu has been ruined by it.
Honestly I think Skinner is so athletic that he's good in spite of Schwartz. Imagine how good Skinner would be right now if he had an actual good goalie coach. Skinner has been really good but I think he'd be way further along if Schwartz wasn't our goalie coach. Every single goalie that comes here (Skinner seems to be an except to this) develops the EXACT SAME warts and issues. The only common denominator is Schwartz.

An inch lower and the three posts/xbars Flamers hit could have been a different discussion around Skinner.

Let's just enjoy the win and not read too much on other factors.

Another common denominator is the shitty defense in front of our goalies and forwards (including McDrai) not picking up their men.

Like everyone was reading into Schwartz being the problem behind the Oilers goaltending?

Experience is probably a bigger reason than Schwartz..
Skinner was pretty good last season as well. One of the best in AHL.

He was just one of the common factors' and easy target to blame with goaltending 'taking shit' for close to a decade in EDM

Honest question. What is Dustin Schwartz's actual job here?

Is it to work with the goaltenders here? I am sure that he does. But quite often a lot of goaltenders have their own goaltending coaches that the hire outside of the organizations.

Someone told me that one of Schwartz's main jobs is to actually scout the other teams goaltender and game plan on how to defeat them. I've never heard of this before but in some ways, it makes sense. The Oilers to have the tendency of lighting up some pretty good goaltenders around the league. So if this was one of Schwartz actual main jobs, you could say that he is doing a good job at it.

I was just curious if anyone else heard about this?

If that's the case then keep Schwartz, give him a different title like "opposing goaltending diagnosing coach" and get a real goaltending coach that can fix our goalies' issues.

The Edmonton media could prove themselves useful and talk up Schwartz as some sort of goalie whisperer so another team hires him.

Not sure why you would think a goalie coach can just magically fix our goalie issues. Campbell had bad stretches on the Leafs...should be no surprise to anyone that he can have those here. Goalie coach at most will help an older goalie tweak his game...not transform it.

With that said...I dont think Schwartz has helped our goalies much at all so he should be fired.

I don't think goalie coach can fix our issues. I was strongly against Campbell from the very start before we were even linked to him simply b/c he's a goalie who does well vs low/medium danger shots and poorly vs high danger shots, which doesn't fit our system. The issue with Schwartz is that almost every goalie we've had gets worse with him. Only Mike Smith improved under us and that's b/c he goat his own personal goalie coach.

You think Ranford would leave sunny LA to live in Edmonton?
As someone who grew up in Edmonton and lived a couple years in LA.
I couldn't get out of that shithole fast enough. LA might be the anus of planet earth.

It's a great place to raise your kids if you want them to be shallow and racist.
