This post game interview from Skinner really bothers tf out of me. No accountability at all, and even scorns 'outside opinion'. Game 2 though? Jesus Stu, what's happenin' dude

Condescending guy. Certain things you can think. In the business or pro sports reliant on big gates it takes a space cadet to call out the paying fans for having an opinion. This same guy had no trouble taking applause for the same variety of stats he says means nothing now.

This guy often comes off like some ahole. He's a shithead that hasn't even earned any slack to be that way. I mean if you're Draisaitl you can be a jerk. You've worked hard for it. Skinner comes off as one of the most arrogant players on the team.

You know my opinion, of a longtime, is that Schwartz turns our goalies to shit. That in itself should be fireable offense.

But that he was the one to recommend starting Skinner in EVERY playoff game is reason alone to be fired. An org with basic accountability does that. Live by your word. His advice in a critical season was to start Skinner all 12 games in playoffs. He gambled big and rolled those dice and came up empty. Fall on your sword.

Theres every indication that stuff like this isn't even really being reviewed by the org, by the org that said they would be doing top to bottom forensic analysis and accounting. They don't review shit.

In my job if something f***s up royally that you recommended you get called on it. In most peoples job it is that way.

But this org has always loved "Yes" people that smile a certain way. Woody plus Schwartz must be like some f***ing glee club.

I'd rather have Mike Smith back as our goaltender coach. Him ignoring dumb ass Schwartz during the off season to go train with a different goalie coach already makes him more smarter than Schwartz ever will be. Heck, who's the different goalie coach Smith trained with? I bet he'd be more competent too. f*** Schwartz, seriously.

He kind of contradicts himself saying first all four goals were good goals and he played well. Then he's asked about the team D and says he could have helped his D more. Which one is it Stuart?

I know your joking, but I advocated for Smith to be a goalie coach to replace Schwartz before as a serious consideration. Just playing in the NHL and being a legit Starter is enough to put him over Schwartz. We got a goalie in Jack who can't handle the pressures of being in the NHL, we got a rookie in Stu who also needs to learn how to handle the pressures of being in the NHL. And were saddling them with Schwartz who has no idea what the pressures of being in the NHL are. He's never stepped foot in the NHL. Meanwhile Smith has seen it all in this league and has handled all types of pressure. Why not Smith? He's got the hunger and competitiveness, he'd probably take the job very seriously and would love to be back in the game. They still give Rings to coaches.

I've said it too. People bow and lick the boots of the "title" coach, but what the f*** does Schwartz really know about playing goalie in the NHL? He never played the position at this level. Smith was good enough to play into his freaking 40s. I think he knows a lot more than Schwartz.

It's not even like he's doing a good job, so really what do you have to lose.

I'm not even joking. Smith may be a hot headed individual, but I'd much rather have him as a goalie coach.

Hmm, my former #1 goalie would rather train with a different goalie coach instead of my organization's goalie coach during the summer? My current goalie coach hasn't improved my two current goalies and continues to regress every goalie I've brought in with the same identical mistakes such as making themselves look much smaller than they really are. Another young goalie in Carter Hart has also regressed while being taught by my goalie coach.
Who's the problem here? Derp.

Yeh can you imagine Schwartz giving advice on the pressures of playing in the NHL?

Jack: "Dusty, I can't seem to stay focused for a full 60, feel like nervous wreck out there letting my team down"

Schwartz: "You know what I'd do when i felt the pressure as a UofA Golden Bear? Smoke a blunt and hit the University's arcade for some down time."

Jack: "Hmm yeh... i should try that.."

I was more hot about the post game than the actual game lol.

Stu hasn't had a good game in a long time. Put down the motivational books an pick up a mirror. Maybe he's really feeling it and wanted to put on a brave face but show some accountability because if we had their goalie we at least tie that game. That fourth goal was trash

If Woodcroft doesn't go back to Campbell next game they are all crazy.

If you think they say anything other than what the they think the media wants to hear so they can write their stories, idk what to say. Should he come out and say he crapped the bed? Queue the no confidence remarks. No benefit speaking to the media so give nothing, pr controlled statements that have the sound bite the prick journalists need to write a nothing article for a boomer to read in the newpaper while taking a dump.

Pretty much this.

I’m not sure how a U of A goalie with a litany of failed goaltenders and goaltending prospects at the NHL level remains a goalie coach for a Stanley Cup hopeful in the middle of their window.

Vegas went out and hired Sean Burke the goalie whisperer who turned Adin Hill, Laurent Croissont (a former failed goalie under DS who made good elsewhere) and Logan Thompson into Vezina candidates behind a Cassidy coached team and won a cup.

Both Cassidy and Burke were available but we went with Woody and Schwartz because “Loilty”.

I'm not naive enough to think he's going to admit to playing like crap in his first two appearances to give the media something to write about but instead he went to the other end basically saying "I felt great, played wonderful. Beaten by good shots" at least give a "I'd like to have one or two of those back" because some of those were stoppable, like Lafferty's game winner. The 2 on 0 is a crapshoot so I don't fault him for that. DeSmith, meanwhile made several monster saves, including in close tips which found their way past our goalie.

It's something fundamental Schwartz is instructing these guys on how to play. How he has survived this long is a mystery but he's got to go.

Exactly. How he's survived the amount of coaches and GM's changes while still not having any goalies here progress is infuriating as a fan.
Outside of Sean Burke, Ian Clark aka Vancouver's goalie coach has been proficient at his job as well for developing goalies. We have a guy as a goalie coach who NEVER played professional hockey in his damn life, and had a goalie in Mike Smith who'd rather work with a different coach in the off season than him. I don't know what the f*** he teaches the goalies, but every goalie always plays smaller than they are under his coaching. Koskinen's a huge dude, but you'd think he's shorter based on the way he was always down on his knees and then getting sniped on his high glove side. Talbot kept having the tendency to give up the 1st goal within 1 to 5 shots since he kept going down on his knees. Soup's rebound control is his major weakness, but that STILL hasn't been improved upon either.
I forgot which previous goalie it was, but one of them said after going to a new team (and playing better), he was taught to stand up more rather than go down and make himself look smaller.

Dustin Schwartz needs to simply go.

Evergreen thread. Maybe he should just resign because the writing on the wall. Then he can walk away bemoaning the treatment from the fans.

Except for mcdrai, no one should feel secure in this organization right now

I don’t understand how this guy continues to skate by unscathed.

I mean I do understand but I refuse to be okay with it.

I can't disagree, but it's clearly a MASSIVE blind spot for the organization. "You just coach them and then they play" as if they're helpless to improve the goaltending at all.

Improve?

I'd settle for our goaltenders not getting exceptionally worse on a year over year basis.

Only time our goaltenders get better is when they find a coach from out of the organization.
