Interesting reading that we’re in a massive hole already because we’re 4-7 so far to start the year.

It that’s enough to put us out of the playoffs, we were never going to make the playoffs. Sucks not to be at .500, but this isn’t exactly an unreasonable record for this team to have right now.

We’re a much better team than we were to start last season, but we need a couple players to get up to their typical level of play.

Batherson, Stu, Cat, and Chabot have not been playing as good as they normally can, let alone taking a step, while Forsberg has been adequate, and both Holden and Zaitsev are both playing like 7th D men. We are not firing on all cylinders that’s for sure.

The rookies make rookie mistakes but have looked great in their roles for the most part (Kastelic, Pinto, Sanderson), but only Brady, G, and Zub have really stepped up so far this season.

If the majority of the East keeps playing like they have been, I don’t think there’s a chance in hell this young team makes the playoffs. It’s just not a reasonable expectation if we are to consider that a 4-7 start, with all losses being close games, has put in some sort of massive hole.

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect us to have a winning record, let alone looking for 90+ points. That would have to be a massive step up from last season, and would basically need all injury and development stars to align.

It’s been frustrating to lose all of these one goal games while looking pretty good doing it, but I’ll take that over having little chance most nights, and being taken lightly by the league over night after night.
Well 80ish points is JUST 7-9 more then last season when the excuses were tough schedule, injuries (Chabot++), Murray and Covid ++

Now we added Talbot, G ,Cat ,Jake , no covid, one more year of exp for 7 points???

If thats the pace not even adding Makar, Marchand ,Seider, Husso and Robertson gets us a Cup...

We need to be better ainef

After listening to Pierre’s presser DJ is definitely on thinnn iceeee and you love to see it. Looks like there will be a decision made within the next 10 games or so
I would say the opposite.

If he was on thin ice, Pierre would not have done a presser.

We're stuck with DJ until a sale I suspect.

What puts us in a difficult spot is that we’re winning enough to be in the conversation, but there have been multiple games that should have gone to OT at the very least but were given away giftwrapped.
Because we couldn't play boring hockey for the last 10 min of the game and go to OT where anything can happen
I bet if we reach OT , with the talent we have 3v3 , we win more games then we lose

Sometimes you have to play the trap just to give you a better chance 3v3

Not sure thats not on coaching but hey DJ is top 5 coach in the league so...

Yeah, that definitely hurts. We could have very easily come away with loser pts against Tor, Fla and Tbay. Suddenly without even winning any of them our record looks a lot more respectable at 4-4-3.

Within reason.

We go on a 15 game losing streak or something and you might see something happen.
Id say yes in a normal situation but the team is for sale, I doubt they want any type of massive change until its completed. No way the new buyers want any more major moves being made until they are in control. It really doesnt make sense from their perspective. Maybe firing DJ and promoting an assistant but they wont be hiring anyone new I dont think.

I also think if its a 15 game losing streak id imagine a new GM would be just as important as a new coach. I will say this. If Alfie is involved in the sale I dont think Dorion will be around for very long.

I'm just saying the stats suggest otherwise.

So until someone comes up with some sort of explanation or stats that shows we're a mess in the defensive zone, I have a hard time believing it.
So to be clear you can't comment on the structure and why it is good?

You can refer to a handful of stats but nothing about the play or strategy?

When you do watch the defensive zone what is the part that stands out positively to you?

That’s fine if you think that, imo the presser was to put him on notice. He said he was very happy with DJ then retracted his statement to say just “happy” because of the record. Then he mentioned the next 10 games as being pivotal. Reading between the lines, it seemed obvious to me

Wasn't GMPD available mainly because there was info on Norris? Then it was a scrum and the obvious questions came out?

No mention of Formenton though?

It felt like a two birds one stone type of scenario, and all he said about Forms was that both parties are aware of the December 1st deadline and that he has no new info to relay

This is all I've seen:

[/QUOTE]

If Holden is banged up I could see why this is a GTD but hopefully being at pregame is a good sign.

What behavioural characteristics, coaching experiences and hockey accomplishments make him a great coach?

Zaitsev over Holden is inexcusable. They're 0-6 with him in the lineup.

I'm in fire the coach

If this is indeed the case (and hopefully it's not), I don't get it.

Someone is clearly briefing Smith on the underlying metrics, since he went into it in detail to explain why our record isn't reflective of our play the other day during a press conference. So someone must be showing him the numbers on Zaitsev. And then he's watching him every game.

And yet, he keeps putting him in. It's wild.

I'm sure Zaitsev is a good dude, but c'mon now.

It's gotta be an injury to Holden.

Even with DJ's manlove for Zaitsev, not even he could watch these games and think that Zaitsev deserves to play over a healthy Holden.

Pretty sure if Zaitsev is in and Holden out, it would have to do with Holden being banged up and not good to go, DJ has mentioned guys being banged up a couple times now, no need to over think it.

We'll see, I guess. If Holden is banged up, they'll say so at game time.

But it's easy to believe DJ is thinking - "JBD is a rookie, so I want the option of moving Zaitsev up with Chabot mid-game since he's played with him before and is a natural right shot."

I think that's flawed logic, but I would bet that's a way he'd think about it.

Apparently Holden out ?

If this is true then it’s just the end for DJ. Stubborn guy. Won’t back off an idea he has in his head. We know Branny and and Holden work. And work well.

If Zaitsev is scratched I’ll retract this
