From what I've seen, 4 to 5 hours which is great for 20 bucks. Need to look up the differences between Interlude and normal PS4 version, besides graphics, obviously. How long was it?

isn't the dlc PS5 only? From what I've seen, 4 to 5 hours which is great for 20 bucks. Need to look up the differences between Interlude and normal PS4 version, besides graphics, obviously.
I beat it in 2 short sittings so maybe like 4-5 hours. They add an absolutely impossible new super boss to the VR training missions though that might take you another 4 hours by himself for you to beat. How long was it?
It is, which is really stupid because it could absolutely run on PS4.isn't the dlc PS5 only?
Heh, nothing new with SQ. I knew it would take forever but I always hope i’m wrong.Honestly, I might be more excited for Ever Crisis than anything lol.
Winter 2023 just seems so far away considering this Remake was announced SEVEN f***ing years ago.
I agree -- right now what I am wondering is if that kind of "rebel against fate" talk is just marketing / a kind of red herring, or if it will end up predicting some real KH type insanity. To be more specific...Three parts is perfect. Still very skeptical of the direction that this is going ("leave the past behind, rebel against fate, and change the future" completely flies in the face of the main game's themes, IMO), but here's hoping that the game, so that it's at least still a cohesive narrative.begins with the flashback and ends with the Northern Crater all-hell-breaking-loose mind-**** moment
I feel like that Tifa "I died and am some kind of imposter?" line is a total red herring that is meant to drum up speculation but actually means nothing and doesn't deviate at all.
I'd be surprised if Crisis Core has anything like that. From the trailer, it seemed like the dialogue was left completely unchanged, and they're completely different voice actors, so it might not be easy to tack on new stuff. Just looks like a normal port/remaster to me. Personally, I don't find that game very well written, but I do like how it loops back to OG at the end.I agree -- right now what I am wondering is if that kind of "rebel against fate" talk is just marketing / a kind of red herring, or if it will end up predicting some real KH type insanity. I think one of the standard expectations right now is that Aerith is either not going to die at all, or she is not going to die in the same way. For me it's a little too simple to say that the latter is the definite best thing that could happen, but I think the former + absurd timeline crossing stuff and excessive compilation marginalia is where they could really go off the rails with the next games.
My expectations are reasonably high, and I think they'll follow a similar blueprint as the first game. I firmly subscribe to the idea that "Remake" in Part 1 means literally that Sephiroth is the one doing the remaking, but I don't think it's going to give them license to just go totally bonkers and depart radically from the sequence of events. I think we'll get the story beats mostly in the way we expect, but also that the whole point in some sense is to play with those expectations, and that that's where the changes will really fall.
Maybe that's more wishful thinking, as I think compilation stuff will be in the mix, but the first game is really almost unanimously loved, and I don't think they'll stray too far from that mold. The trailer could be full of misdirection but I think it's setting up exactly the arc that you suggest, and the general expectation I have is that it's going to end in a really dark place. Maybe Aerith will survive the famous moment but then Cloud himself kills her later on. I've seen people say that it makes sense that Sephiroth wouldn't want to make the same mistake of killing her as from the OG, and I agree, but who knows. Maybe there's actually enough misdirection and speculation that the surprise moment playing out almost exactly as it did in the OG will still be a surprise.
In any case, I'm excited and enthused by what we say, and I am also intrigued to grab Crisis Core. I've heard people don't love the battle system which they seem to partially be preserving with the slot machine format, but I guess we haven't seen the full thing yet. I expect I'll grab it close to day 1, and I hope they use it to try out possible gameplay tweaks for Rebirth. I also think there's something to the idea that Crisis Core will point to something in Rebirth, though I have no idea how that will interact the ramblings I got into above. I guess the likeliest guess is that there will be a post-credits cut scene that gestures towards Rebirth or the scenes we saw after Remake/Intergrade.
BTW for @The Crypto Guy or any others debating Intergrade, I think it's really worth it. It's a pretty tight experience, and I found it really fun to play as Yuffie.
Yeah, I think you are spot on about CC -- I think my post was a bit sloppy. It definitely seems like it is exactly the same, and I've also heard that about the writing. I do wonder if it will have some kind of post-credits cutscene, but it's also the case that the compilation stuff seems to be more thematic than directly linked to anything happening in Remake/Rebirth, so any kind of clear pointer might be too much.I'd be surprised if Crisis Core has anything like that. Yeah, maybe this is just me in denial/wishful thinking, but I can totally see the full-on red herring thing happening, to some degree anyways. The trailer keeps hinting at change, but virtually every line/scene shown in the trailer is perfectly consistent with the OG storyline, even though it SOUNDS like something dramatically different (pretty impressed by how sneaky/deliberate that is).
The "What are you implying? That I died? That I'm some kind of imposter?" line is basically the equivalent to the "I'm still alive too-- none of this makes any sense" line already in OG (seems like the trailer's trying to trick people into mistakenly assuming it's either about Aerith's death changing or Tifa dying instead or something).
The "You were here with me five years ago" thing could easily be Cloud speaking to himself/the voice in his head.
The "I'm trying so hard to find you" line sounds like it's misleading people into thinking it's about looking for Zack, but it's basically just the "I want to meet you" line already from OG.
The only part that throws a wrench into everything is
Seems like that whole subplot might have actually changed, but it could end up being very minor in the grand scheme of things.the Zack heading to Midgar shot-- is the sector 7 plate already missing? Or is that just the sector 6 plate that would have been already missing in OG too?
Also, possibly unpopular opinion:I think Aerith needs to die for the themes to make sense, but I don't really care how they change it, nor do I think the OG death scene needs to be preserved or was all that effective to begin with anyways. Doesn't hold up that well, and the Red XIII scene was always way more effective/timeless, IMO.
Good instinct, IMO. I feel like most of the goodwill for Crisis Core is from the emotional impact of the ending CG, but honestly, its delivery just plays like cheesy K-drama-esque melodrama for me, personally. I do like the final shot, though.I've played through FF7 about a dozen times but never watched Advent Children or played Crisis Core. Never really been interested in any of the expanded universe type stuff, from the outside it seemed to be going into convulated Kingdom Hearts-esque nonsense and I didn't need to sully my impression of the base game with that.
But now that Crisis Core will be updated and convenient to play, I'll definitely be checking it out!
Ever Crisis. I really liked the idea of what we all thought it was going to be originally (basically the lower end more authentic remake that purists would want, better translation and everything), but the more I see/hear, the more concern I have about that one too. I don't mind it being mobile only, but it sounds like they're making it microtransaction/Gacha heavy (maybe even to the extent that it's free to play?), and the final Sephiroth shot in the trailer made it seem like they were trying to shock with something unexpected/different for that as well.Really, I hope it will be possible to play a nice, straight up OG for modern consoles before the new trilogy is completed. I don't love the fact that they are seemingly making this one updated character model version (I can't keep all the new titles straight) for mobile devices only. Hopefully it will trickle to Switch and PS.

Not sure if this is the right place for this but also not sure if Crisis Core warrants its own thread.
Looks like the retail price will be $50 USD. Placeholder date set for March, but I wonder if they won't hit holiday 2022? That's kinda what I was assuming, but the fiscal year terminology of "This Winter" definitely lends itself to being an early 2023 release.
This just got a release date. Unfortunately, the trailer weirdly showcases some of the cringier elements of the project, in my opinion.
Agreed, but I found it interesting/notable nonetheless (not like it's a common thing to come around either), and the past few pages have mostly been about Crisis Core Reunion, Ever Crisis, and Intergrade rather than Rebirth as well.Dude...that isn't FF VII: Rebirth lol. It was also cringy as f***.
