Final Fantasy VII REBIRTH - Part 2

Edit: Nevermind, read the interview-- it is Weiss, but they'll probably just re-introduce him in a different way. Ugh... that means that stuff like Genesis is still a very real possibility.

I think the idea that he's a VR boss fight bodes well, since presumably Yuffie might not even be able to fight him. Based on his comments, it sounds more like Weiss could become available for you in going back to chapter select after you beat the game, or perhaps is something that's added once you've beat the DLC chapter. I'm not sure if I am expressing myself clearly but that's how I understand some of the VR missions and how they are available. I haven't circled back since beating the game.

It definitely does seem like something like Genesis and so on is still a possibility, which is worrying. Thought I've dug into stuff around the compilation in watching videos about Remake, I'm definitely with you on that one. My hope would be that they use the context of the DLC in order to expand some about Wutai. If they can do it sparingly, I'm not totally opposed to some Deepground/Shinra stuff, but I'd be more interested in getting some picture of Yuffie's backstory and Wutai more generally, which is something that I think was "new" in Remake but mostly in a background/worldbuilding kind of way. I'm actually pretty intrigued to get a chapter on Yuffie and some context for her character prior to when you meet her in original FF7.

Mmm.... my impression of the VR comment was that he was saying that Weiss will be a story boss for the DLC, and there will also be an additional harder version of him as a VR fight. But I could be wrong.

I was initially excited watching the Ever Crisis trailer, but with it being mobile and episodic I am thinking it's not the full game, but some streamlined experience with simplified combat for mobile...which is a bummer.

A full FF7 remake with that graphics style on Switch would be a day 1 purchase.

Not too interested in the Remake DLC...can't even play it since it's PS5 only. Hoping they keep the Deepground stuff in the DLC and not bring it to Remake Part 2.

Please no Genesis

I could see that too. It's hard to know the scope of the DLC. Sounds like it will just be a standalone chapter/episode (I forget the language), and I know these were of differing size in Remake, but I imagine it will be somewhat lengthy, since there's been really no other news until this point, and I doubt there's more DLC.

What I'm most curious about is whether there will be any tweaks in the main game, or if it will be just performance and graphics stuff. It'd be nice to be able to do some kind of tandem attacks with the base party, or at least maybe have the opportunity to switch out party members on the fly (though I guess they basically solved this in game by never really having much opportunity for more than three members at a time).

I'm hoping that they fix minor frustrations like Limits not getting interrupted by cutscenes, and AI not purely targetting whoever you're controlling.

Man the 60fps and zero load times are a gamechanger. For some reason my dumb self thought the PS4 version got the 60 fps patch and even told people how "smooth" it felt. Lol. Man the load times are literally non-existent. The second you press continue game it takes you into the game.

Also, no joke, it took me like a year to beat Scorpion Sentinel (the chapter 1 boss you literally face in the demo) on hard mode. It's soul crushingly hard.

And I gotta say, it's crazy how good Barretts actor is. Give this man an award.

I'm at chapter 3 currently on the PS5 upgrade. They really did not fix the pre-rendered 2d skylines. On some level I'm kind of glad they didn't the jpeg skyboxs have their charm.

They fixed the door, lol.

Interesting to hear that the sky boxes are the same because when people datamined them the texture files for them were actually massive.

Skylines as in the blurry top-down view of the lower plate when you look down?

Also, the last part of the Yuffie DLC ending is infuriating and confirmed some of my biggest worries about the remake. The first part of the ending was really nice, though. Also, seemingly implied that
there probably won't be a world map

I literally have no idea what this means, but from what I'm gathering, ff7 part 2 is going to deviate drastically from the original, as was hinted at at the end of part 1

I kinda like that, but also kinda hate it....

This whole stretching final fantasy 7 thing thin is kinda annoying, apparently there's some Ever Crisis mobile thing coming.. like fuuuck stoooop it already I don't care about mobile games... The pixel remasters was cool but only on steam? I don't play games on PC.. give it to me on the switch or PS. Lol probably in the minority there but whatever.

Finally decided to give this game a try (I've never played a FF game before) and man do I like it so far.

Question. How do I get enemies to be staggered? I'm at the slums right after you do that first big mission and am doing side missions and one reward requires you to stagger a certain amount of enemies then finish them off with a special move or something like that then that kid gives you a materia for a reward but I can't seem to get any enemies into a staggered state.

"The stagger mechanic in FF7 Remake stuns a foe after it's been hit enough with the right attack type(s), filling the stagger bar located beneath their HP. Once they're staggered, a percentage will appear adjacent to the stagger bar which functions as a damage multiplier while the enemy remains in that state."

It has been about a year since I last toughed the game so I don't recall directly from memory.

Couldn't agree more. Barrett has always been one of my favorite characters, and I was thrilled with how well his VA does.

I might not be facing strong enough enemies right now because it seems they all die before it is given a chance to be staggered.

Using assess will tell you what element an enemy is weak to, and usually the enemy intel portion will tell you anything that causes extra stagger not listed under weaknesses. Also abilitys that cause extra stagger will tell you in their description. Focused Thrust is the biggest stagger causing attack.
