I really hope Mesar will play in OHL of in Europe. No AHL or NHL for him this coming season.

I want Mesar and Slaf on the top line in the AHL with the Barron and Guhle on the top pair of the backend... until the trade deadline firesale!

I like where you're going with this. But I'd like to see Mesar dominate in the OHL against players his own age. The OHL was a great place for Suzuki to develop over multiple seasons, including 2 post draft seasons.

Wouldn't he dominate younger kids in the OHL? I'd rather building chemistry with Slaf and the young dcore.

There would be some older and some younger. He'd be about average, especially when you consider which kids get the ice time, and therefore would be on the ice with him and against him.

He's an excellent puck carrier, he's got great vision and amazingly quick hands and he works like a horse, his shot is weak but he's got a great hockey IQ. That's a Center in the NHL not a winger, add the fact he's on the short side of the spectrum he's gotta always be on the move on the open ice otherwise he'll be constantly neutralized by the Defenses.
Competitive advantage of lower centre of gravity 🤔

Mesar is 18 years old, not 20.

hes too physically strong to learn anything by playing with kids

He's 5'10 and around 170 lbs, not 6'4.

He can definitely develop at least 1 year in the OHL. It can be quite a step between the Slovakian league and the AHL and it's not like he was dominating in Slovakia. If Laval goes longer than Kitchener, then Mesar can join them.

The average age in the OHL is usually just over 18, so he would be playing against kids his exact age on average. He should play where they think his game will benefit the most from playing at that level.

Dominating kids after playing against men will teach him nothing imo. We all learn the most when we struggle.

Huge mistake to think everyone learns things the same way.

Jan Mysak played against men at 16 and in a better league then the Slovak league, he also played in that league at 17 but left for the OHL half way into the season. Yet he was back in the OHL at 19 and I doubt it had any negative impact on his development.

I think many here likely don't know much or very little about most of the Euro leagues to begin with, so they vastly overrate what playing vs men means.

Collberg is another, played against men at age 16 and 17 in the SHL, a much much tougher league then the Slovak league and Czech league yet he was not ready for the AHL at 18.

You just have to see how they look at camp, practice, preseason and go from there.

Mesar is simply much more talended with the puck and thinks the game at another level, his offensive awarenesses are among the best of his draft class. Mysak is more a lehkonen type of player, compete hard at both ends, but has limited skills and upside.
Maybe you’ve already broached this and I missed it but if you don’t mind, how much stock would you say it would be reasonable to place in Mesar eventually being developed into a centerman and how efficient might he become at it?

Or, will he exclusively become a winger, given his attributes?

Personally I see Mesar as a winger, but I never saw him play down the middle so I dont know really what he looks like.

isn't it amazing to think we could have our AHL club with all the top scorers/players "actual" prospects and not these dudes MB used to pick up. When I check other teams AHL affiliates, you always see the top scorers: 19yo, 22, 21, 20 - but during MB era was always 28,29,27,33 journeymen. complete and utterly useless development.

Why on earth have a farm team filled with guys who have no shot at the NHL?

AHL vets are an integral part of prospect development. There's a reason why the league is not an U25 league.

Less than half of the top50 are U22.

Development camp had him at 5'10 167 lbs.

His legs don't change the fact that he won't dominate physically against CHL players. Such a weird response.

Given his play in the Slovakian league, doubtful.

any way man i have argued with you on this earlier and we're doing circles. its been almost 2 months we have no data oh his play, its best to see where he's at now
