Encouraging.

I admit I had given up on him. Short-sighted on my part.
I'm in the same boat. We can't overstate how hard it can be for young kids coming over to NA. Mesar clearly went through a change in his mental approach to the game. It's like he realized he wasn't ready for Pro and decided to get back to work. It has to be tough when your good buddy jumped right into the show.

The challenge with Mesar will be his game translating to the NA pro level. It's great that he's found his footing against kids his age, let's just hope he takes what works in Jr and works on what didn't work in the AHL previously.

Nothing wrong with letting a kid develop for a while. It's something we've been harping on for other prospects.

He'd still be one of the best offensive players in Laval. It's never been a worry about his offensive game.

Disagree.

This is exactly what some people were saying about Kidney coming into this season. Mesar has a lot to prove at the AHL level as he looked timid and overmatched in his brief stint as well as in pre season.

Hopefully he concentrates on playing in the middle of the ice more and attacking defenders with speed and can bring that with him to camp next season.

I think it's the opposite. Despite Kidney's monster numbers, barely anyone was vocal in their support of him being a legit prospect coming into this season. I wasn't.

I saw him in the dev camp and preseason and came away actually fairly impressed. He was quite implicated even though the physical tools weren't quite there. He still faired better than I thought.

He also seems to be coming on of late as well. I can't say either way about his NHL potential at this point but he's been fairing far better than I'd thought he would in the offseason.

Just hope he can still keep getting stronger and faster.

Many forget that max pac was sent down to the ahl when looking horrible at the nhl level . The history after is in the stats book. So not only for euro players . Not every player peaks at the same time
