I certainly don’t want to trade him. Ignoring his injury history is foolish though

Sure. I’m not ignoring the fact that he’s out. But there’s a lot of real estate between acknowledging his injuries and pretending certainty that they’ve all been concussions and he’s about done, as I’ve seen others on here do.
I’m not even suggesting he can’t be traded. He’s not untouchable. Just saying that proclaiming we should be selling low on damaged goods is a bit much.

I do t think they all have been concussions but some definitely have and his tendency to get hurt on a lot of weird contact plays means he either is bad at protecting himself or he’s got somehow prone to taking injuries

I don’t think he’s “done “ in that he can’t come back from this. But if it keeps happening over and over going forward he might not be able to keep coming back

I’d love to see him turn it around and stay healthy. The team is very strong down the middle with him healthy and I like his game when he’s on. I just want him to stay on the ice and be safe

Hate what is happening with this kid, he really has a great skill set but he has constantly had these injuries every time he starts to find his groove. The org has some time to figure this out before the deadline but you cannot go into the playoffs with bonino as your 3c. Regardless of the team I hope Chytil has a recovery. Concussions are just awful and when they linger it is absolutely devastating.

Nothing personal, but your statement is borderline idiotic. So, yes, your statement should be ripped apart.
okay, nothing personal? What @TGWL said made sense, whereas what you said was kind of personal. I am allowed my opinion, right, wrong or indifferent. AND, if you're too lazy to see what TGWL said, he said Filips injuries we kind of "accidents" with his head down. Which is very true. He needs to fix that, and you can fix being a little too computer aggressive. Have a nice day.

My philosophy re: Chytil is that he can be LTIRed and it can be retroactive if he is out long term, so we don’t need to move him at all. Who is going to give up much for a guy on indefinite LTIR with possible long term concussion questions? The idea is silly.

What isn’t silly is trying to insulate against this being a genuine issue, either now with this injury, or somewhere down the road when it happens again.

We definitely should invest in identifying some youngish centers with upside. Via draft, via trade, via Europe and NCAA undrafted players, etc. Change of scenery candidates. Anything. We have a lot of wings in the system. Aside from Laf, who seems to finally be coming on, and KK and Cullye on the roster, we’ve got Otthman, Berard, Perrault, Sykora and a few lower end centers who are probably wingers in the future. It might be worth trying to swap for a center. What if you could move KK for Greig or Pinto? What if you could package Otthman and Robertson (or something) and grab a good center prospect?

Just musings. What happens if Chytil comes back in 10 days, looks good, stays healthy, we stand pat at the TDL, have a great season, high hopes going into the post-season and then he gets injured again after the TDL or in the first round? What if next year he has an injury that actually does make it difficult to actually get back? I think we should definitely be looking to insulate the center position. It probably doesn’t hurt to look for a middle-six caliber center on an expiring contract at the TDL this year whether Chytil is healthy at that time or not. Let’s not screw ourselves over by not having the depth to compensate for injuries that we could reasonably anticipate are likely to occur.

Here
Was thinking last night during the game how much more complete this team would look up front with Chytil and Kakko in the lineup.

Its not like they are Mess and Gretz but you take Pitlick and probably Brodz out (whos been very good) and they are even more formidable from a matchup and defensive standpoint

Chytil would juice offensively whatever line he is on, definitely.

I wonder if they just decided to hold him out until after the christmas break, or if he's still having trouble recovering

I read in the other thread that the NYR sent him to a specialist in another state. Hope he heals 100% hockey aside.

I want what I want
Ugh.

Thanks

Note, if we're going with all the reporting as being accurate:
Chytil was concussed on Nov 4.
Nov 24 It was reported that he had "recently" started skating on his own
Nov 26 It was reported that the Rangers had "recently" sent him to the specialist in Michigan
This Dec 20 tweet is referencing that Nov 26 report from Staple/Athletic.

Usually in concussion recovery. You rest until you have no symptoms. Then you wait at least a week before physical activity (light workout graduating to on-ice skating) while monitoring any return of symptoms (usually 24hrs after workout). It would not be unusual for a person to visit a specialist after receiving multiple concussions.

Guess what I'm saying is it's neither good nor bad right now. Differing scenarios could be playing out right now. Which one, we just don't know.

Strong possibility symptoms returned after after 11/24 skating which is why he went to see the specialist on the 26th, otherwise why wait 3 weeks to send him to see him?

Just because it was reported that he went to go see the guy on the 26th doesn't mean that he went to see him ON that day. Entirely possible (probable) that he went earlier (even before he started skating) and got looked at and then green lit to do more.

It would line up with the latest we've gotten based off of the article posted above

Chytil is skating on his own and he’s been around the practice facility, but that’s all we know.

As in he's still skating now. They wouldn't allow him to keep skating had anything resurfaced.
