It actually looked like Fast got the worst of it

If you slow it down, it does look like Fast's shoulder comes in contact with Filips chin, so thats where the head contact could be. And you can also see a pretty distinct head jiggle from the first view of the replay. The brain could get rattled around in that instance, especially when you arent prepared and dont have time to brace yourself.

But as discussed, concussions are an odd thing. You dont necessarily need to have a glaring hit to the dome to get a concussion, especially if youve had a history of them

Either way it looks like Chytil knew right after.

Going down absorbs the shock of a hit. It may look worse but it can be better for your health.

I get all this. At the end of the day, he's not ready to come back. And he's damaged. He's had like 4 concussions, and with each frag, it chips away at making a full recovery.

Even if or when he comes back, it's always going to be a worry about his durability. We were already cringy about him before the latest setback. I think we had just started to relax as he seemed to be better at staying healthy and then bam, another concussion.
To the point that I had almost "forgotten" that he had prior concussions. What's very unfortunate is that these concussions are severely hindering him and may never reach his full potential. It's only natural that he may start avoiding any kind of contact, which is nearly impossible. Maybe he should ask Mika and Breadman for suggestions on how.
Of Filip, where art thou? When will we see you again? Hope and pray soon for everyone's sake.

Sad, hopefully he can have some positive weeks with his family and return to the team, just a really shitty situation, he’s so young, sucks he has gone through 4 concussions at least?

This doesn't sound good at all. This tells me he is done for the year

I'm disappointed for him but I just want his health to be okay.

I have seen several trade posts and I understand why but they are not realistic this year whether he is able to return or not imo.

Not great news. Not trying to diminish his own personal health over my love for this silly team, but with all the misses in the 1st round we’ve had, hitting with him was softening the blow for me. Him having these serious health issues is just further proof this org is cursed.

This might actually turn into a Kucherov type LTIR after all. Just really hope he comes back healthy foremost.

His career may actually be over. Such a shame.
I think its may be way too soon for us to say. I remember some saying the same sort of things for other players that have played for years. These kind of things are why I always understand pro players trying to maximize their earnings early in their careers.

He's still a young guy on foreign soil. Concussions can really affect you mentally and emotionally, and long term injuries can be isolating for pro athletes already. I doubt this news changes the timetable, just makes sense to let him heal surrounded by support he just can't get here.

Honestly, while I don't think his career is over...I feel like we're just getting over a 50% chance that we've seen his final game in a blueshirt.

Hope for the best, but...every new piece of news they make just makes it seem less hopeful.

Yea, that's f***ing almost worst case news right there.

You don't send him back home if he is anywhere near ready to return, and by that I mean in the next couple of months.

Guess at this point we can just hope for a playoff return, but even then he will be rusty as hell and unlikely to do much.

See you next year Fil!!! Couple of notes from LB's article;

Industry sources have framed the decision reached in conjunction by the 24-year-old center and the Rangers organization as a “reset,” in which Chytil will continue skating on his own under the supervision of the trainer and skills coach with whom he works in the offseason.

Sources have told the Post that Chytil—who is believed to have sustained four concussions throughout his six-year NHL career in which he has been sidelined for injury 10 different times—has made progress while skating on his own at the club’s practice rink over the last four weeks and is committed to returning this year.

If Chytil is unable to return during the regular-season, the Rangers would gain approximately $3.8 Million of additional space off the center’s $4.437.500M cap hit to bulk up the roster. Using that money would not preclude Chytil returning for the playoffs.

Really love Fil and hope he gets well soon. Beyond all his skill as player, he seems to just love playing the game and has a great personality when engaging with media and fans. He will be missed.

Going to be very interesting to see who they target in a trade. Drury surely knows they can't go into the playoffs with Bonino as 3C

So what if the Rangers don't put him on LTIR? Wouldn't that be a good sign. Could they be stupid not to do so? Will Chytil go on LTIR? Rangers better put him on LTIR for the deadline?

He's already on LTIR. The expectation was that he would come off LTIR before the end of the season. If that's not the case, then we can spend LTIR space to replace him.

I totally forgot he was already on LTIR. So they should try to trade for Lindholm now

Again, that cap space is only available if Chytil is out for the rest of the regular season. Calgary probably isn't ready to give up in any case, and we're still winning, so we can afford to wait until the deadline to get a better idea of Chytil's status.
