I haven’t seen this as a confirmed concision right ?
It's not been confirmed by the team itself but the team also never says anything beyond upper body or lower body. Based on him not skating, it being upper body, his history, the lack of a timetable provided by anyone, and what's been reported by all the beat writers though it's pretty clearly a concussion.

I don’t get it. What’s the point of hiding if it’s a concussion. At some point they have to make a decision to put him on LTIR.

The thing is, he could feel fine next week. Thus you can't just place him on LTIR.

They aren't under any obligation to put him on LTIR, even if they think he will be out for the rest of the year.

Beyond not wanting to give info to competitors, there are probably Hipaa reasons why they don't share that information.

Does it rub anyone else the wrong way that the stated reason for why teams don't say what the injury is is because players would target that part of the body. I can't think of more of an indictment on the average hockey player than that. Basically means players are out there trying to injure other players. Not saying it's not true just very sobering if true.

some evidence. Don't think it's too much to ask. So it's 4 concussions now. Anyone willing to lay out the timeline?

These are the three we know of.

Nov 6 2021 CAL Sammy Blais hit
Oct 23 2022 CBJ Cole Sillinger hit
Nov 2 2023 CAR Jesper Fast hit

He also was out a month with an undisclosed upper body injury after the Evan Rodrigues (PIT) collision in Jan 2021 and broke his cheekbone at the Worlds in Mar 2023, which he said prevented him from training much of the summer, so who knows if it was just a fracture. I seem to remember the Sammy Blais hit being his second concussion so maybe the Evan Rodrigues collision was his first. I also seem to recall him leaving at least one playoff game early after getting his bell rung and being a game time decision the next game (TBL?).

He switched to a tinted visor after he came back from the Cole Sillinger hit due to light sensitivity issues.

Well.....if he recovers well enough to play again at some point the team has to trade him and get what they can or take what they can get for obvious damaged goods . He does us no good sitting in the stands or at home . He obviously has a soft head albeit no fault of his own . If he was smart....he also might consider retiring if the injuries are indeed concussions .

Another thing I love about soccer: players are subject to medicals by the acquiring team before finalizing trades. This should be allowed in hockey as well.
Used to be like that.. when did it change?

I think they can ltir fil retroactively no? Or is that just for ir?

That guy must be from the side future

I'm going to laugh when Chytil is back on the ice after Thanksgiving and ready to go the first week in December and all this silly garbage was just spewed by our beat writers who were just looking for clickbait since it's been a slow week with no games.
You must be an insider

I think it's entirely reasonable to speculate about Chytil's career being cut short at this point and I would be shocked if the Rangers aren't concerned about it. Just because he's back skating doesn't mean his situation going forward is secure. If he keeps getting these concussions (and it seems not unlikely for that to be the case) then at some point he's going to have to make a decision about his health and the rest of his life and decide whether trying to constantly recover and come back from concussions is worth it.

Maybe he manages to protect himself and manages to stay healthy, I dunno, but his track record at this point isn't good.

Also annecdotal but when I broke my cheekbone I 100% got a concussion as well...the force required to break your face is pretty likely to make your brain slosh too unless maybe it's very localized to that exact location that breaks

All this speculation about Chytil is pretty wild. There’s no proof he’s had all those conclusions, or that this was another. None. I know being a NYR fan can make you pessimistic but some of this gloom and doom certainty is just out of control. Hahaha.
I mean if you have any credible report citing a medical professional that examined him, by all means post it. Until then I’ll wait and see what happens with him rather than advocating trading a talented young center we have no replacement for in the pipeline on the speculative “damaged goods” grounds.
