One potential problem is that he would replace trocheck.. and then zib would be forced to take faceoffs.

Chytil really needs to be better on faceoffs. Like he needs to concentrate on that this offseason.

If he can get close to 50% it would make a big difference. Right now he is like 37 or 38%. Thats horrific.
Serious question. Wouldn't that be a legit reason as to WHY he isn't 2C? As much as I like Trochek (and believe me his game will be much better come PO's) I am even a bigger advocate and fan of Filip. He gets near 50%, (like you mentioned) and KK and Laf continue to grow, then I have to believe that that whole line will be a 2C, maybe as soon as 2024-25.

Good guy Chytil...

he's gone cold... saving us money two fold. If he finished at his previous hot streak pace, Laffy would be getting A LOT more money too.
We want him to do well, because that increases the chances our team will do well. But unfortunately, it might not be such a bad thing that he's hit a dry spell. Let the guys that have long contracts and will get paid no matter what, do the scoring. It's okay Filip, you'll get yours. Still say that might be partly the reason he sees no PP time. lol.

He still looks relatively dangerous out there, just not converting on the chances as much anymore. Probably just a confidence thing. Even when he's not scoring though he's good at opening up space for Laf/Kakko.

Think he breaks out big next season

Likely answer is Gallant favors vets over kids.
he had a brief moment in I want to say December or January where he was 2c with panarin.
But that was broken up quickly.

Yeah, kind of remember that as well. And it was "likely" that when we had offensive zone draws that Filip would lose them and eventually GG said......oh no, I cant have this. When we have an OZ draw, we need to win them so that Panarin can give it up.

Biggest thing I think with him of late is rushing his shot. His snapper is not nearly as accurate as when he pulls back and whips the full wrist shot. Could be psychological too...stuck on 19 goals, pressing for #20 which would be the first time for him in the league. He's still wheeling up and down the ice and getting chances, he's just not shooting 20% anymore.

I think he'll be fine, but I'd like to see him try to pick spots a little more like he did earlier in the year rather than yeeting the puck on net as fast as he can with the snapper and hitting the goalie.

As for faceoffs, I don't really see any reason Chytil couldn't get good at them, all things considered. It's just technique. He has the strength, he has the hand-eye IMO. Just choke up on that stick, get low, and get in there. Seems like it should be a reasonably easy thing to coach, but he's got to work at it more...baby steps would be nice...like landing around 45-46% for a year and continuing to improve from there.

I think he's alwaysd gonna be streaky but he needs to protect himself better and stop getting hurt as much

I said this last year and probably the year before too, I think it's a hgue reason why he never grabbed the 2C spot

Really solid deal. The kid is only 23 years old. The Rangers now signed him until 27. I think this is just dipping into his prime the 3rd or 4th year of his contract, so it's good for him too when he's playing for another contract. He must have most of his points even strength too. If he ever becomes a staple on the PP, his number could be a lot better.

Still needs work on his finishing. Really hope he works on it this offseason because he would have double his numbers if he finished most of his grade A chances...the other kids would've benefited too from the stat boost.

Fil definitely flies under the radar around here, had to dig up his thread from way back into page 6. He isn’t talked about as much but I have a feeling that may change

Getting the impression from Lav and others that this kid is ready to explode this season.

“Fil to me looks really good right now, his size, his speed. His ability to make plays. There’s a lot to like about his game” - Lav

The one, most important thing for Chytil is his durability. He needs to stay on the ice.

Unfortunately he hasn't shown that ability yet.

I do think Fil is gonna be a nice surprise this season. I think he's gonna finally hit the level that was idealized when drafting him.

He looks much more confident. He is so important because he is one of very few Rangers that carries the puck with above average speed. Im optimistic based on his play. I do have a concern about injury.
