He’s 3 development years older. That work better? Laf’s D+3/3rd NA Pro year. Fil’s D+6/6th NA Pro year. Experience matters. The same geniuses still doomsdaying on Lafreniere this year were looking to use Chytil as a trade throw in last year, his D+5. Did not age well and neither will all the Laf is a bust/ career 3/4 liner hot takes.

Fil IS a lot of fun to watch, that whole line is, and he and they are only going to get better. They compliment each other. Just wait til KK and Laf catch-up to Fil development wise. It will elevate all three of their games. I actually saw Laf looking physically stronger last night, the way that seemed to happen with Fil second half of last season. Actually hung in on the physical battles instead of just being overwhelmed. 5 hits too, a couple of hard ones. Fil is becoming a beast. Not with the aggression but he’s a bull with the puck. And KK is getting there too. Right now his possession is excellent I can’t wait till he’s full grown. All three are going to be terrors. I see Fil as stylistically somewhere between Mika and Jagr. NO I’m not suggesting he will hit their levels, but he could end up being a legit 1C in this league.

Fil has started to simplify and rely more on his speed/movement. Before he'd try to dangle through the D, now he puts the puck deep and goes past the D and gets to work. His game is getting more and more like Hintz's which is a good thing. Speed, board strength and a good wrist shot can get you a long way in this league. Roope has better hands, but maybe Fil is more of a mule.

Laffy did indeed look physically stronger last night. He needs to play with talented players not scrubs.

Kakko was a beast in the neutral zone against the Flames. Feels like most nights he could walk away with 3-4 assists. What's gone missing a little since the start of the season is him driving to the net. He had an opportunity or two to do that last night and didn't for whatever reason.

Filip plays a refreshingly simple game that produces.

In the last 2 months he hasn't earned a look on PP1 which is 17th in PP%. Time for that to change. It won't, but it's time for that to change.

One potential problem is that he would replace trocheck.. and then zib would be forced to take faceoffs.

Chytil really needs to be better on faceoffs. Like he needs to concentrate on that this offseason.

If he can get close to 50% it would make a big difference. Right now he is like 37 or 38%. Thats horrific.

Chytil is averaging 14:23 TOI/game this season. That is just a crime.

He is now 17th in the league in ES points/60, 25th in all situations points/60.

He is now 13th in the league in ES goals/60, 16th in all situations goals/60.

Per minute, he has been better than Draisaitl and Matthews so far this season. Unreal.

His TOI numbers are somewhat skewed by him getting hurt in a couple games, where he played only 4:48 and 8:44.

In the last 9 games, he's been under 15 minutes only once, and he's averaging about 16 minutes per game.

That cozens contract is a nightmare for us right now. Guy is in his third year. Put up 38 pts last year.

He’s got 43 in 49 and gets 7 mil a year ext?! Ridiculous.

I’d sign Chytil to that deal today. He has star quality and they can’t repeat the mistake they made with Buch. Locking down Chytil and Miller should be priority 1 over any outside move

Good point. He had a game early in the season where he had just 11 seconds before he got injured. Just one game like that would skew anyone's average ice time number.

Yeah, 7 might seem steep today but in two years... not so much. It should be very tempting for Fil even with that term. And this locks him up for his prime years till he's 31 years old since he'd be just turned 24 at it's start...
If at 30 you want to extend him you offer him a big number for a few years. No one is likely offering him a big 7 year contract at 31 unless he's a superstar.

Yeah, but that also means he had only 11 secs to try to score in that game. scoring per 60mins takes all of that into account. But if you are just commenting that he's getting sufficient ice time, I get it.

Its only a nightmare bc our front office chooses to never go that route and we end up overpaying vets for their declining years.

It's more than that though. If Laffy signs a 2x 2.5m contract when comparable or lesser talents on other teams get $7-8m contracts it's a big deal. He'll lose out on 10m-12m in only two years. If he's bridged after that to say 5x3 years he's losing another 6-9m. Do you think his agents and family are happy to lose out on $20 million USD just because he plays for the Rangers who do things the NYR way?

Playing Kravtsov in the top 9 this year would help with that.

Theyll probably play Kravtsov in the top 9 when he stops pulling up on hits and getting knocked down by a stiff breeze. He needs a summer of real training and the Rangers arent going to shoehorn him in over better players. He has done literally nothing to deserve it.

Please stop ruining a good ‘hate on the coach’ moment
