Stuart skinner was 13-5-2 with a .921 save % in his previous 20 starts before this game.

I mean that’s good and all, but him being .872 SV%, 2-9-2, -8 GSAX, and 3.38 GAA/G against top 10 teams speaks more volume. Skinner isn’t the guy suitable to be the #1 goalie for this team to win the cup

That’s why I don’t get why anybody can defend Skinner still. The Oilers are a top team. The defense has been relatively fine despite still needing a legitimate top four d man too. But goaltending? Holy f***. The fact that skinner can’t even be average is just stunning. Even average goaltending nets this team more wins and points right now.

It's purely because they like him. They chased Koskinen away who had similar numbers playing against a much worse defense. Same posters were likely calling for his head. Skinner gets a pass though

The fact is your not gonna win many game 7’s scoring one goal. Averaging 1.5 GA a game through games 6 and 7 doesn’t really get much better than that. They still didn’t win.

Yeah the team is elite defensively so they can insulate his ass against more average teams. Against the better teams though ... as you said this is a cruel league ... you can't hide shit in net forever. He's getting exposed in those situations.

How do you not understand the psychological turmoil Skinners play puts on his teammates?

I would wager that there is an internal dialogue in every Oilers player that for as much as they love Skinner or skin daddy, there are significant discussions over the lackluster play and heart breaking moments Skinner systematically afflicted on this team over the past 3 seasons. Privately and in their own mind.

I would parlay that with at least 25% of the current players on the team also believe Stuart directly cost them the 2024 Stanley cup championships.

Imagine having to work with that guy.

The Avs are going to regret trading away Rantanen and Byram. Georgiev for Blackwood was a good move but the Avs have struggled almost as bad as the Oilers identifying goalies...they've run through their fair share.

Winnipeg is probably winning the West so we wouldn't be playing the 8 seed.
