Chytil is a vet. In his 5th full season. 285 games and another 23 in the playoffs. He's been on this team longer than anyone but Kreider and Zib. And Vesey, I guess, but Chytil has more games played as a Ranger.
We use age here.

"If you're under 25 you don't get top unit power play time. You're not emotionally mature for it." --Gerry Gallant

True statement.

I still think Drury goes 2-3years on all the RFAs. There really isn't a comp, because of the flat cap an our situation

I see 2-3 years x $4-4.5M

Could see Chytil and Miller both going for 3 year deals like Lindy. Theyd both be up for new contracts at 25-27, with a much higher cap.

Here
Yeah and maybe the same or a little more for Miller.

Which leaves 6-7M left for Laf, Kravstov and other pieces.

Its good we get these guys locked up as long as possible. With the cap due to increase after next season maybe they could actually get some breathing room (not).

Kakko, Lindgren and Schneider the following summer.

The year after, Igor

2 years is unlikely as Chytil only has 2 RFA years left. Drury will buy at least 1 UFA year.

I've been looking for comparables for Chytil.

* Numbers prorated based on Chytil playing 74 games this season
** Player Usage refers to the player's TOI/G in the final year of their 2nd contract
*** Cirelli signed after the 2nd year of his 3 year deal. New contract takes effect next season.
**** This contract was a multi-year RFA signing that took place after the regular season started and therefore has a unique cap hit (2,030,952 year one, 1,838,362 year two).

Roslovic is probably the closest comparable. I expect Chytil to get at least 3 years and the AAV will likely be between 4 and 4.5 mil. If he signs for 7-8 years, then he'll likely get something between what Eriksson Ek got and what Cirelli got, but I don't expect him to get that long of a contract. More likely it will be in the 3-4 year range.

Chytil turns 24 in September, just before his new contract starts. A 4 year deal takes him to 28.

I would give Chytil 8x5.5 if I could.

Yeah I'd give him the Eriksson-Ek contract if it was doable cap wise. My one gripe with Filip is that I think he lets minor ailments take him off his game a bit too much but hopefully that goes away as he ages.

Woah. Easy now. I like Fil, but 8 years and above 4-5M range? And as mentioned, he is injury prone. Also, for that length, you're also accounting for a no-movement clause for those later years.

We give out no-movement clauses like candy anyway. Everyone of our older guys have one.

"Those later years" You mean when he's 29, 30, and 31? Yeah he'll totally be over the hill by then. This is the whole point of giving long-term contracts when they are young so that even when they get to the end of the contract, they are still worth their value.

Chytil is not getting 8 years. Any RFA getting 8 years gets vastly overpaid. If we were Ottawa, that could work.... we're not.

All RFA's will get short term deals.

I looked at his career stats and I'm (somehow) surprised that his career high in points is 23. He should crush that.
Yeah, between injuries and shortened seasons, he hasn't been able to get over that hump.

BRUH... he's back to 38% faceoffs again... Move Laffy to Center already

Chytil besides losing a lot of faceoffs, feels like he gets thrown out of the dots the most I've ever seen from a Center.

Chytil's best season before this was 2 years ago, when he had 22 points in 42 games.

Last year was a down year for him (until the playoffs), but he scored on only 5.9% of his shots, the lowest rate of his career.

This year he has 22 points in 34 games, while playing on average only 50 seconds more per game than he did 2 years ago.

He's 1 point away from his career high points total (23) and 2 goals away from his career high goals total (14).

He's also +9, which matches his rating from 2 years ago, the only year in his career when he has had a plus rating.

In his first 18 games this season through October and November, he had 25 shots on goal, a rate of roughly 1.4 shots per game.

In the 16 games since, he's had 48 shots on goal, and average of 3 per game. And he's scoring at a 16.9% rate, by far the best of his career (previous best was 12.3% 3 years ago when he had 14 goals in 60 games).

If he can stay healthy for the final 40 games and maintain those shooting and scoring rates, he will score another 20 goals, giving him a total of 32 on the year.

Chytil is 59th overall in the league in ES P/60 (filtered at players that have played at least 400 minutes). He is first on the Rangers.

He is as good as we think he is.

the one and only young player on this team that has a legitimate gripe about the players in front of him.

will never forget when he had his best season in the shortened year and his icetime went down from the year before.

this is a kid that almost never plays with prime linemates but has put his head down and worked on his game. i still think he's struggling a little right now but he's really solidified himself as a quick and skilled grinder type.
