Haha, I said the same thing to a group text filled with Pens fans and the salt was delicious.

The rollercoaster ride with Fil continues. I was his biggest supporter last off-season, really advocating for the team to move on from Strome then and maybe get something in return for him. His play pre-injury last season really turned me into a believer.

Fil’s play this season seemed to vindicate those on the opposite side of that argument.

We should see some consensus after these playoffs though. The way he bounced off the check prior to that backhander last night was what impressed me the most. His Bambi legs are a thing of the past it seems.

Dare I say that he has Mika-like potential over the next few years as he hits his prime? Plays a similar game, similar physical profile. Hopefully the two year bridge doesn’t end up f***ing is like it usually does.
Fil said he spent the summer working on his legs and wrist shot. Paying dividends now. I've no doubt there's a lot more development still to come as he works out the wrinkles in his game.

If you take away last night's game he has 2 goals 1 assist and a -6 in 12 play off games. Lets not act like he's all of a sudden turned the corner. We need to see more consistency from him.

Obviously I'm rooting for him
But last night happened so we don't need to take away those 2 goals and he's one of the reasons we are headed to a Game 7.

I always had high hopes for Chytil. He always showed signs of talent. He has obviously taken his game to another level this postseason. The strength he is showing, the quickness in hunting the puck, bounces finally going his way, all lead to the success he has had this postseason. He is a diamond in the rough no more.

The way he reversed hit Brendan Smith to give himself room to get off that backhand, was simply beautiful.

One of the reasons I always liked him, is that he has that ability to create all on his own. Either with an end to end rush, like MacKinnon did the other night or bounce off defenders to create space for himself. He has the speed and strength to pull these things off.

Plus you put guys like Laffy and Kakko next to him who have the ability to set him up, and good things are bound to happen.

If we are to take Game 7 in Raleigh, this line will be needed to get us on the scoreboard. Scoring has been difficult there. And as strange as it might seem, these kids look hungry to produce and make a difference.

a skill player showing his skill. very dangerous with the puck deep in the zone. lethal shot and good instincts in those scenarios. sometimes he looks flustered and puzzled when he's in other areas of the ice, but when he has the puck down low, he looks like he knows exactly what to do.

Definitely top-10 but I put him just outside the top-5

1. Makar
2. Pettersson
3. Heiskanen
4. Hischier
5. Necas
6. Glass
7. Chytil
8. Brännström
9. Thomas
10. Jokiharju
Chytil is heads above Necas. That dude handles the puck like a hand grenade.

His back hand hasn’t been too shabby either :)

Needs to fix the face offs most of all, but I’m delighted with how he and the kids have shown their true colors (in a good way) in big games this post season.

Chytil is filling out, no pun intended, and he has embraced the way GG wants him to play. No more East-West BS. He has the skill and knows when to use it. He is tough behind the goal line too. He got stronger. That line is show some extremely encouraging signs.

I see a boy turning into a man before our eyes.

Kid is getting to be a little clutch too. The 5th goal he scored to shut up the Canes fans and the reaction from him and Laffy was priceless.

He is getting addicted to that feeling and his confidence is brimming.

He’s 22. Laf is 20.

Yea, also because KK gets shit on all the time here, he made two really key plays to set up that goal. First the pass out of the defensive end and then forcing the turnover at the offensive blue line. Thought he was really good last night.

Can someone explain to me why I shouldn’t be optimistic that Chytil is looking an awful lot like a young Mika Zibanejad? These two have a very similar physical build. Both rangy, plus skaters. Fil doesn’t have Zib’s shot, but I’m not sure that Zib had this shot when he was 22yo either.

The only things that keep me from getting overly excited about Fil are is injury history and his contract. I’m not sure if they’re going to be able to afford him after next season.

This kid line is incredible! So exciting to see the energy and talent. Kakko is finding his form, Chytil has confidence and Laffy has been the best of the three. We can win!
