Yep. not happy about this at all. Fil *finally* looked like he found a place, and he's being pushed down again by Prust 2.0

Except Gallant is not accepting Quinn hockey. Chytil looks better on the wing, but he is two or three years away from being a fully grown 200-foot Gallant winger. Imo the Rangers should hang on to Fil if possible, it could be that he will become a trade casualty, if he survives he will become a is a strong player down the line. But, as with the other kids, the way the Rangers are doing things it will take time. Kreider's precious "process" will have to take the time it takes.

So then you look at the young guys we have today and compare... Chytils spent the most minutes last season between 2 teenagers, this year he's spent it between a 20 year old and a prospect... and that's not a shot towards any of those players, but it's a far cry from playing 15 minutes a night next to a Brassard or a Zuccarello.

But it doesn't just apply to Chytil, we have 2 franchise altering prospects and we're sitting here like why can't we seem to develop these young guys... you can't give these dudes historically low usage, bunch up all these guys with no experience together and then say well why aren't they doing more with less?
This is a really good point, we wonder why Chytil hasn't progressed meanwhile he's mostly played as the vet on his line. He's considered a raw player while the team is asking him to be the vet to Kakko and Laf? Look at Troy Terry, Tage Thompson, players that took some time before things clicked. I would not entertain moving Chytil for a rental, would be really stupid to even consider that. If you're targeting a young signed player, that's fine, use your assets and young players. His play has definitely warranted giving him minutes with better players, and at wing specifically.

and regarding his line playing poor defensively, Panari, Strome and even Fox have been guilty of some horrid passing we have not really seen from the in the past. Chytil has been solid in filling Hunts cycle play and has actually produced points, so yes I would be giving that line more time.

Very proud of this kid He grew up 50 miles from where my Dad was born and raised. LGR Filip has done nothing but work his ass off all season long. He has heart.

Said this in another thread but I’ve got to be honest, Chytil never struck me as a big game player but he’s impressed me. Whenever we need him to step up he has. Some huge goals for us

Also shows how different players can look with and without confidence. Chytil was awful in the regular season for the most part and it looked like his game was slowly slipping away but the playoffs have injected him with some energy and newfound confidence

Chytil reminds me of a young Kreider. No consistency until the playoffs, and eventually figures himself out. Really impressed with Fil scoring huge goals and being a leader. Keep him around

We've seen flashes of this before all throughout his career. The problem is they're usually followed up by long stretches of less noticeable play. He's actually been pretty good for a while now, a lot of people here were complimenting him even in the last month or so of the regular season. Hopefully this is the player he actually ends up being. Might make it just a little bit easier for Drury to let Strome walk.

the injuries haven't helped him and every time he was playing better an injury would derail that.

The last month of the season after he came back from his last injury he looked good. He had jump, noticeably skating well.

I think he's just finally healthy and in a groove right now and able to consistently be involved. He's definitely raised his game in the playoffs too. That one game in the Penguins series was his moment where he became a man. He's become a playoff performer now. It's great to see and hopefully next season is his breakout season (as a Ranger).

We often talk about the opportunities Kakko and Laf get, or don't get, but how many chances has Fil had in the top 6? Not many, and when he has, he has done well.

It really helps that his line is clicking. Collectively, they are driving the play more and that is allowing Fil's skill to show more.

to me, it has not gone unnoticed how much Chytil has matured this post season. Again, the points aren't really there but consider:

- He has really let his physical game mature and and is way less timid than he used to be. He engages and grinds down low in the offensive zone, carries the puck in with speed, an wins battles in open ice to get the puck. This is a huge improvement over the hot and cold style that he had during the regular season where sometimes he tried to be dynamic and sometimes he tried to grind it out

- He's also just more of an asshole. He's engaged several times after the whistle and flew into scrums this post-season just like his linemates. Love to see things like his crosscheck on Aho, he thinks he's being cute and throwing some lumber, Chytil gave it back twice as hard, so hard that him and that rat Skjei immediately whined for a penalty LOL

- He's also just been really good, along with the rest of his line. They are way more consistently intimidating during game than any other line we have. Opposing fans have noticed, we've noticed, Ferraro noticed, McDonough between naps has noticed, etc

- I still think Chytil has been shafted more with the "no top 6 linemates" thing than both Laf and Kakko. Just want to see a time where they're all really going offensively.

- Also, remember when he called out the team for overpassing before g5 against Pittsburgh and scored the GW? I do, it was cool.

Chytil is certainly making the decision to move on from Strome easier with his play, the real question is what do you do with Copp?

If Chytil can slide up to 2C, you can’t be spending 5.5/6 milly on a 3C/2RW in Copp

Gallant told Chytil earlier in the year he needed to start playing like Mika.

I think he got the point.

That was a Crosby backhand, filthy.
Haha, I said the same thing to a group text filled with Pens fans and the salt was delicious.

The rollercoaster ride with Fil continues. I was his biggest supporter last off-season, really advocating for the team to move on from Strome then and maybe get something in return for him. His play pre-injury last season really turned me into a believer.

Fil’s play this season seemed to vindicate those on the opposite side of that argument.

We should see some consensus after these playoffs though. The way he bounced off the check prior to that backhander last night was what impressed me the most. His Bambi legs are a thing of the past it seems.

Dare I say that he has Mika-like potential over the next few years as he hits his prime? Plays a similar game, similar physical profile. Hopefully the two year bridge doesn’t end up f***ing is like it usually does.

If you take away last night's game he has 2 goals 1 assist and a -6 in 12 play off games. Lets not act like he's all of a sudden turned the corner. We need to see more consistency from him.

Obviously I'm rooting for him
