FAQ: Going to Anaheim and Honda Center

For game 5 tickets, is my best bet to get off a site like stubhub and then scan my phone of the bar code at the gate?

There's actually a bit of a sale (10-15 off some sections) through Ticketmaster right now. I think it ends tomorrow at 5 PST.

Cool, I will check that out thank you. I just wanted to confirm basically can scan with tickets from stubhub and/or ticketmaster as I likely won't have printer access while on vacation but would love to see a new arena and enjoy playoff hockey.

I've always just printed them so I'm not sure, but it doesn't look like that's an option on TM, but you can either do Will Call or pick them up at a TM Retail Outlet.

Thanks, that is the plan. My aunt lives in SD so visiting and then taking a ride to the game

Any can't miss things around Anaheim area?

I guess it depends on what your interests are and how much time you have. Obviously there is Disneyland. AKA, the happiest place on earth. Plenty of beaches too.

Just 18 miles south of Ponda center is Newport Beach and harbor, one of the nicest places in So Cal.

Take a ride on the Balboa Island ferry.

Even if you're not going to Disneyland, I'd drive by it (assuming you have a car). Cool to say you've at least seen the outside of it, y'know? It's on the same street as the Honda Center, just a few miles west.

Take a drive down Pacific Coast Highway through all the beach cities.

He should especially drive down PCH through Long Beach, incredible views there :sarcasm:

so are WCF tickets available now?
whats the best way for a non-STH to get a chance to buy?
wait in line outside Honda center?

Chances are Monday the STH will get presale info, then a day after that for smaller plans, then wednesday there will likely be staggered presale first for facebook/text/twitter followers, then the general sale after that. I doubt very many tickets last to the general sale, so i would follow the ducks on facebook just in case they last that long.

Does anyone know what time the actual arena opens to the public? Looking to get there as soon as it opens to see the entire arena before the game starts. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice and tips guys, had a great trip, it extended from Malibu to San Diego. Got to go to game 5 and very cool experience seeing the Ducks clinch in OT. Fans were great (wore orange and rooted for the Ducks). Building was louder than I expect. Good luck vs the Blackhawks!

just got tickets through 714tickets at a reasonable price for WCF (same price would get me maybe standing room at United Center for regular season).

I don't necessarily want to pay for parking ($20 for regular season game is still lame in my opinion), and so does anyone know where to park for free (or even significantly less than next to Honda center?)? I know there's a movie theater nearby, but what are the chances for towing?

This info is years old, so who knows.

But at the movie theater they used to have security guards there on platforms high up. They would look. I'm not sure how they would tell though if you park there, go to a restaurant there, then went from the restaurant to the Pond.

You can park in the business district across the 57, either in the streets or in the lots. Some of them have set up fees, some don't.

Yeah, and the ones with fees are still cheaper than the official HC parking lot, and sometimes easier to get out of, too.

Does anyone know how to get from LAX to Honda Center by metro or bus? Or can someone help me on how to get from LAX to Honda Center without driving? Thanks.

Hm.

Off the top of my head:

Option 1:
1) LAX -> Green line there's some kind of bus that should be free if you have a plane ticket
2) Green line to Norwalk station (end of the line).
3) At Norwalk there should be a couple buses. One goes to Disneyland. But now they built that ARCTIC station, there should be another bus that goes there too. That's right across the street from Honda Center

Option 2:
1) LAX -> Green line
2) Green line -> LA Union Station. I think there's a bus that runs along the 110 and maybe another that runs along the 710?
3) Amtrak -> ARCTIC station (Metrolink?)

There is probably a 3rd option of going to the El Monte Transit center. I think that's the Green Line to the Blue Line? Then some kind of express bus to Anaheim?

edit: If you're into architecture, Union Station is pretty neat. 20s Art Deco/Mission Revival fusion. ARCTIC is really new and modern, so that would be an interesting contrast. I think ARCTIC was designed by Clavatrava?

double edit: so I butchered all the facts and spellings. It's ARTIC, not ARCTIC. And it was not designed by Calatrava (also butchered), but it does look a lot like his stuff. But a train trip from Union Station to ARTIC would be a pretty neat time travel thing to do. Early 20th century transit hub to early 21st century transit hub.
