Well, he turned it around pretty decidedly, so maybe that outburst was too soon on my account.

For what it's worth, I believe that the Pirates are committed to seeing how he does over a very long stretch in MLB. He very well could fail horribly and lose the job, but I think he's the kind of player who might just need a lot of time, and have a long transition period, before he approximates his potential. And he may need to reinvent himself somewhat. We'll see. But there is no one else on the horizon and the strides he has to take must happen at this level. If he starts placing his fastball and getting ahead of hitters consistently, he will turn things around in short order. Tonight was a step forward, but I have no confidence it will carry over. It's going to be a rough ride for the next few weeks still, in my view, but I think the potential in the medium and long term is still such that it's not worth moving on yet. His offspeed stuff makes everyone look stupid, and the fastball should be his best pitch. I think he will get the feel for it with more reps and confidence.

Too bad Glasnow's batting stats don't count, haha.

I know they're not that far out of first, but I don't think the Pirates are going anywhere this season. You might as well see what you have.

I think I'm breaking a fantasy record on injuries to impact players: Tulo, JD Martinez, Eaton, Kluber, Hamels, Garret Richards....

Woof.

Thought I was doing well despite a couple of those injuries, but after those last few dropped, might be a done season lol. Lucky I ran into Thames.

Gonzo as in Adrian? Probably him.

Yea him.

From a fantasy standpoint

Adrian - .255 6/0/11

Beltran - .245/10/2/9

Beltran has bene better the last two weeks and plays at Minute Maid while I now read Gonzo has been dealing with a herniated disk and a DL stint isn't out of the question so that covers that.

Probably going to drop Beltran anyway when Cespedes returns.

Yeah, I think they are basically going to at-best tread water and hope to make a wild card run down the stretch. The immediate and moderate future will be better if they can turn Glasnow into something resembling the pitcher he's capable of being. 2018 with Cole, Taillon, Glasnow, and Nova could be an imposing rotation, but now there are uncertainties about Marte, Polanco has really stumbled out of the gate, etc.

Trying to decide what to do with my fantasy team. I'm on track to lose again, and drop to 1-4 on the year. Still plenty of time, but I'm beginning to think whether I might want to try and roster a rookie or two way ahead of time. I have one open spot now, and I can drop Joe Ross to make another. There don't even seem to be any pitchers worth streaming... might add Perdomo since he has two starts next week.

Jesse Hahn, Zack Wheeler, or anyone starting against the Giants lol.

Hahn can pitch great at times, he's just injury prone.
Wheeler has the high draft pedigree.
Amir Garret is playing the Giants tomorrow if you're looking to stream someone.

Last year I picked up Michael Fulmer on a whim when he had a 4.00-something ERA in his first few starts. Then he magically picked up a slider or change-up pitch and he suddenly became lights out >>> you can monitor news for pitchers adding secondary pitches (although that kind of research doesn't really show up unless the secondary pitches are thrown well and actually become useful haha).

This is how I feel owning Cody Bellinger.

Yeah, I definitely screwed up in being too conservative on Bellinger. I now have a decent amount of waiver cash, but really no one to spend it on.

The Kershaw offers are starting to roll in. One is Hendricks, Benintendi, and Berrios for Kershaw and Braun. Another is Yelich for Kershaw straight up. The former is actually not so bad, if I am going to give up on the season to some extent, because Braun is harder to deal due to his constant back problems. I still would reject both, and it looks like he's actually pulled back the former as I have been typing this. My trade decisions often come down to making sure to get the best player, which means trading Kershaw is basically impossible, but if I could get Benintendi as a core piece (at $4, vs. Kershaw who is upwards of 45), it would be somewhat tempting.

The Benintendi and Berrios offer does look tempting. As for Yelich for Kershaw. Wow, who offers that.

Sorry man. I missed out on Correa in 2015, I know how it feels.

No, no. I feel bad about not recommending him to another poster. I play mostly dynasties, so he was owned in all of my leagues before he even got called up. I have him in one, but I'm not calling him up since it looks like this will be a lost year in that league.

On the Moncada topic..

I decided today I am punting saves, I'm in last for saves (roto), and 2nd in the league so why not.

I dealt Ken Giles and Scott Schebler for Andrew Miller and Yoan Moncada. Thoughts?

Some teams are starting to hover around Kershaw, as my 1-4 team is just one disaster after the next. Nola, Matz, Hamels, Taillon, Haniger, Bedrosian all DL, Marte suspended.

One offer which is at least slightly tempting is Arenado, Boyd, and Pomeranz or somebody, for Kershaw, Chapman, and Braun. Now, obviously the value is way against me, but Arenado is only 12 to keep, vs. Kershaw who will be 46 or so next year. Braun is nearly useless for me if I am not going to compete, and is a frustrating player to roster anyways, especially since I am already wasting a spot on Marte (Braun is always out of the lineup, never on the DL). Chapman holds no value as a keeper.

Still, I will push back for something else, since I might as well not unload three good assets for one. I think what I might counter is Kershaw + one of Braun/Chapman for Arenado straight up, or maybe this original package for Arenado and Odorizzi, which might still give me something decent in return at SP. The real value of the deal is getting Arenado at such a steal, which would then let me add him to a core of Goldschmidt, Polanco, Marte, Glasnow, C. Seager, for going forward.

Is Braun worth picking up?

My lineup is as follows

C Jonathan Lucroy
1B Chris Davis
2B Rougned Odor
3B Nolan Arenado
SS Carlos Correa
2B/SS Zack Cozart
1B/3B Joey Gallo
OF Jose Bautista
OF/3B/2B Jose Ramirez
OF Jay Bruce
OF/2B Ben Zobrist
OF Michael Conforto
OF Corey Dickerson
OF/3B Miguel Sano
OF Carlos Beltran

Thinking of dropping Joey Bats or Beltran for Braun, thoughts?
