Just okay? What am I missing here?

I was thinking Paxton was the perfect sell-high. His value has to be at its highest, no?

Paxton has always been talented. It was just a matter of staying healthy. I think he could really break out this season if he doesn't get hurt. Trumbo really doesn't walk, but he did hit 47 homers last year. Edwin is a fine get. I meant okay as in not a clear cut loss for you.

Totally fair, I've owned him in other years and I guess I am partly assuming he'll get hurt.

We are only 2 weeks into the season though and if I can trade a 7th round pick and a 15th round pick for a 3rd round pick, while addressing a need of mine, I'm gonna go for it.

Fingers crossed it works out.

Well I was going to drop victor Martinez for fraizer but someone had waiver priority over me.

I think i had enough of victor, any idea's who i should pick up? Is Avisaíl García for real or will he come back down to earth?

Mitch moreland, Asdrubal Cabrerra, brandon belt are available, maybe someone i am not thinking of?

Judge and castro just got picked up. I need some advice I am struggling.

Its a head to head league and I was up 8-2 in the stats all week, this morning and now im down 6-4 and somehow pedroia and pence are hurt now for me, and seager, gonzalez, mccann have the day off and the week ends tomorrow at the worst time.

Swinging at far less pitches outside of the zone than ever before, for what its worth.

If you league counts OPS or walks, Belt is probably the guy, though.

I wanted to replace Marte so I pulled the trigger and traded Danny Salazar for Ozuna and Yasmani Tomas.

Bought high on Ozuna and I don't really like the trade but I think my pitching can take the hit. I feel pretty comfortable with Sale, CMart, Maeda, Paxton, Wainwright, Velasquez, Gonzalez, Musgrove, Morton, Hellickson and Rodriguez, with Richards stashed on my DL.
Interesting, I can actually make that trade myself as a Salazar owner. Not a bad trade. I'm actually thinking of selling off Salazar myself, but for a better pitcher. I can't stand his inconsistency. The strikeouts are great, but come on man.

I'm about to pick up first W.

Tootoo is also going to be 1-2

Was that a subtle shot at your commish. Someone's going to get a penalty.

Jokes aside, I'm not too bad in terms of total points. Been hit with injuries to players I expected to be great. And draft flops. Bleh. Aside from 1 team that's in 1st, this is likely my worst fantasy start to the year.

Commish sucks. :sarcasm:

I thought your team and mine were clearly 2 best teams last season and now this year we are struggling a bit. Not to worry we are still finishing ahead of Long Island Losers.

I am very glad that I aggressively bid on Thames, especially after facing a tough loss last week and still needing to replace Marte tomorrow. Leaning towards Corey Dickerson, although I could also get Suarez because I don't need an OF.

Wondering if anyone has been following Cozart close enough to have a read on him?

I was trying to look a bit deeper into his hot start this year and something that really stood out about him right now is that he is just swinging way less than he normally has (39.2% vs. 47% outside of this year). Is this a real change in approach? He's always had pretty good pop for a shortstop, and all of his other numbers (contact rates and such) are pretty similar to what he's always had. If he's really just suddenly completely changed his approach to be more patient this monster start for him might be more sustainable than people would think.

Cody Bellinger called up to play the OF. Just picked him up. Hopefully he gives the Dodgers no choice but to keep him up.

Trying to figure out a way to pick him up. My team is killing it offensively so it's tough. Gonna try to move a bat for a pitcher because that has been killing me recently and Gray and Sanchez are
both going to be coming off DL soon.

I've been streaming the spot McCarthy is in now but it seems like he's a solid pick up... I'm also trying to pick up Glover the closer for my third closer spot but I dont know who to lose  I feel like the move is to try and move a bat + arm for a better arm but I'm really stuck here.

You could just drop McCarthy for either Bellinger or Glover. Its probably still a 50/50 split for saves in Washington for Glover and Kelley. Looking at your team you need Glover more than the other two.

Trying to decide how much to bid on Bellinger. Looks like I might lose Haniger to the DL anyways, so the roster spot isn't an issue (and I could just drop Dickerson, who I picked up as a temporary stream for Marte's spot). I have spent money a little too freely for early in the season, but it's worked out very well for Thames, and Bellinger could have a pretty big impact if he sticks.

I'm thinking another $11 bid might be in order.

So something interesting to note about Votto...obviously we know he's got great pitch recognition and patience but through the first 22 games of the season his plate discipline is really interesting. He's swinging at a higher rate than he ever has, and he's making more contact than he ever has. He's also gone from one of the best line drive hitters in the league (3rd highest line drive rate over the last 3 years) to an extreme fly ball hitter (42.6% which would have had him just about in the top 20 last season). When you take into account his superior pitch recognition, contact rate and HR/FB rate compared to other guys that are extreme fly ball hitters...well, if this transformation is real he'll probably have his best ever fantasy season. Maybe these were the adjustments he was talking about making early this year and was trying to work on (without success) last year early. I'm guessing a drop in OBP but a big increase in counting stats is coming if it continues.

Any thoughts on a Bellinger bid at $8? I feel like it might not be aggressive enough, but he's also not a guarantee to stick, so 1) it might still be enough, and 2) I'm not sure it's smart to bid higher.

I am losing Haniger to the DL, so I could really use an impact bat, which is why I'm tempted to just say screw it and bid even more aggressively.

I wouldn't. They hit him 8th yesterday, and while a lefty did pitch, I don't think he'll be hitting much higher than that.

Edit: He's hitting leadoff tonight. I still wouldn't.

Your skepticism is proving to be warranted - 0/3 with 3 Ks tonight.

I'm going to make the final call here soon... I'm a bit thinned out offensively, with Marte suspended and now Haniger going down for a few weeks, and maybe Thames dealing with a hamstring injury. Luckily, my other mainstays in Goldschmidt and C. Seager are looking good, but Polanco is absolute garbage right now, and Braun as usual is fine - when he plays.

I basically need to add a CF replacement, so I'm hoping I can grab Grichuk for cheap, and the other U spot is really up for grabs. Dickerson is currently filling it for me. His matchups seem pretty good for a while, so the smart thing is probably to just stick with him, but Bellinger's upside is tempting. I'm currently sitting on a lukewarm $5 bid, which I feel like is definitely too low to land him with the hype that he has, but also maybe the highest I should go for a pretty speculative add. I think I'll just do it and see what happens, I can live with wasting the money if he has to go back down, and if I get really lucky, he'll be a big contributor for me for a while, and be priced very nicely as a keeper. (For that reason, I assume the winning bid will be closer to 10 or 11, since that's still ok keeper money, but he's also less attractive as a 1B option).

The real prospect move I should be considering is when to try and roster Austin Meadows for a dollar. I imagine that the Pirates plan to still keep him down until the trade deadline, but the offense, and general situation, is such a dumpster fire in Pittsburgh that it would be hard to justify not calling him up if he starts to catch fire offensively in AAA. But I'm a little handcuffed here, since if I roster him as a minor league player, I then waste two bench spots since Marte is out, so I'll probably drag my feet as long as possible -- at least through May.
