No, no cap penalty. And yeah, I like Suarez a lot, although I've been encouraged with the start from Moustakas. I'm on the short end of the stick with 3Bs, so I have flexibility to try out different ones and probably stream. I should look more closely into the matchups, but I was also thinking that Suarez would make a reasonable useful final U, even if I grabbed Thames too:

Lucroy
Goldy
Forsythe
C. Seager
Moustakas
Marte
Haniger
Polanco
Braun
Thames
Suarez

I generally like to play with 5 SPs on my bench, but there's nobody out there that I like enough right now. I have Matz potentially coming back at some point, but I'm not holding my breath.

Going to try and grab Cody Reed once he gets RP eligibility, since he might be a nice SPARP guy later in the season. Although my RPs have been consistently racking up a bunch of points: Chapman, Justin Wilson, Rivero, Neris, Bedrosian. The first four especially, getting lots of innings and performing well. I like Bedrosian's upside, but I wonder how much the Angels will really be in a position to use him, though that kind of goes for Neris as well. Thinking when the time comes I'll grab Reed and drop either Wilson if he drops off a bit, or Bedrosian if he's not getting a lot of innings.

@DJ Spinoza: There's a cap penalty of half of the player's salary in my cap league. That's good that you won't have a cap penalty on a $23 Buxton.

Yeah, that would be terrible. I've basically regretted the pick since making it. We had this insanely annoying draft situation, where the commish had screwed up by allowing too many roster spots as possibilities in order to let us bid whatever we want or something, and then the CBS auto-system was both continuing to pick for the one guy who didn't show, and then the whole draft stopped because somehow it let a guy run out of money. So I was left with a fairly serious remainder, and decided to just literally outbid anyone to take a flier on Buxton, because I was under the impression that we had made an ad hoc decision to reset budgets and allow no carry over money.

At least it's relatively inconsequential. I have very little worry about him suddenly turning into a great contributor, so time to open up the roster spot.

I've crushed my opponent this week, and for some reason it's making me feel like tinkering a bit.

3B: Moustakas vs Eugenio Suarez?

OF/U: Buxton, Judge, Thames? (pick one)

Leaning towards staying the course with Moustakas, and grabbing Thames while dropping Buxton. I could also try and add both Judge and Thames, and drop whichever I don't want if I get both, or drop Josh Bell, who I think is serviceable enough for solid points when he's playing, but I am not sure he brings too much fantasy value without a bit more of a breakout in terms of power.

Judge I really don't know a lot about - surprising to me that he's available. My league is H2H points.

I think Thames might just be the person to grab, because I'm not really concerned with turning a young player into a possible keeper option, and I suspect that Thames could be the possible breakout-monster season type, so better to act somewhat aggressively with the last spot on my roster in week 3 than to be kicking myself from mid-May onwards.
Moose and Thames.

Someone dropped Yoan Moncada in my league. I somehow managed to get him off waivers and dropped Jim Jeffress

Hell yeah

Nice! Jeffress might be the new closer in Texas (that's who I'd put money on, anyway), but Moncada has much more upside. It's just a matter of when they call him up. Tyler Saladino isn't good.

I sort of assumed Matt Bush might get that role, so I was happy taking the risk.

I figure if Jeffress does get the role, I can hopefully pounce on it fast. I haven't completely punted saves this year but I only have Familia, Feliz and Street (on DL).

Some managers like pitchers that have closed games before. Jeffress closed games for the Brewers before getting traded.

Anyone know the Rays prospects very well? Is Honeywell going to break in this year? I'm guessing it will be more of a September call-up than anything earlier, but he's up in AAA now.

Always feel ambivalent when an extremely aggressive bid pays off. I bid 11 on Thames and won him. Obviously regression is coming, but with a bunch of games in Miller Park, as well as a chunk in Great American Ballpark, you have to assume that the guady HR numbers are still going to be there. I think the question is whether he will hit for as much average as he has, and add any SBs. I decided to just press for him because in my estimation, the rest of my roster is more set than usual. If I decide to tweak 3B, I can probably do it for a dollar, and the same more or less goes for the spots that Matt Boyd (who I just snatched for a dollar) and Charlie Morton are occupying at the end of my bench. Normally I have more of a 3-4 possible pitcher spots up for grabs.

But with Haniger and now Thames, I'm riding those early season hot streaks as far as they'll take me.

Depends on how deep the league is. I'm holding onto Morton, but my league is very deep. He's only been so-so -- the velocity has stayed up, and he's mostly avoiding walks, but he's been more hittable than you would like and isn't going as deep into games. Still, I've gotten solid production from him each start as probably my worst pitcher.

Damn, this really screws me. I might take a flier on Meadows, who is still available, and hope the Pirates call him up and he rakes. Certainly a possibility, but this is going to severely handicap me because I am pretty sure I have to waste a roster spot on him for the entirety of the duration.

I feel for you guys. I've argued extensively with Yahoo to make suspended players NA eligible. Predicably got nowhere, but maybe an outpour of complaints with this most recent case will foster some change.

Just picked up Moncada to stash yesterday, now Marte is gonna be stashed for over half the season... Brutal.

Probably going to drop Skaggs for Holliday or someone if I can't make a trade soon.

Happ on DL had to drop him.

Already have J Gray on there for another month, and then S Gray is still recovering, but I had to put him on my active roster.
