Looks like he's on track to be surclassed into Midget AAA next year. From a recent article (translated by google):

"Xavier Parent in the sights

The prodigy 14 years Xavier Parent participates in spring camp of the Phoenix. Last season , just 13 years old, in the uniform of Conquest Lower Laurentians , Parent finished first in scoring Bantam AAA (North) with 49 points in 32 games . He continued with 11 points in 5 games in the playoffs .

The player could be part of the Phoenix team next season, but Paulin Bordeleau judge that he will earn his place at the selection camp".

That's some massive skill he's showcasing there.

Are these comparisons to Lemieux/Crosby/etc. actually legit? I know he's only 14 but those are some lofty comparisons.

After reading this thread, should we count with him as a new "Connor McJesus" prospect?
Will be there also such heat before his NHL draft?

Only time will tell, but he has as much hype as any peewee player coming out of Quebec since Mario, and those who have seen him play are saying they can't remember a player with his skill level at that age since.

Having said that, we shouldn't have any expectations yet, as it is still too early to tell if he actually projects to be a great NHL player. If he can put up big numbers as an underage player in Midget next year the hype will start to really pick up.

Xavier Parent (Phenix), Samuel Poulin (Phenix) and Xavier Simoneau (Intrépides) are all going to the Midget AAA pre-camp of their team. Simoneau doesn't take a decision yet of what he will do. Tonight I'm going to the pre-camp of the Phenix so I will see Poulin and Parent.

Let us know how he looks

I understand. But how it was with Crosby and McDavid in this age?

so they have HD broadcasts with commentary and **** of games with 10/11 year olds in Canada? Nt surprising they'd all rather play in the US, lol

beautiful skater. Imagine being able to do that, such an asset on dates

The broadcast is for the Quebec International Peewee Tournament. It's probably one of the coolest things to be a part of. It's not like they commentate every one of his games

Again, I hate to compare such a young prospect to such great players but yes, the hype is probably around the same at this stage. Many Quebec have been heralding him as best since Mario for over a year now.

I think it was the RDS feature where a scout says he can't remember a player with such skill at that age in the Q region since Mario other than Crosby, but in terms of pure offensive talent he may be a step above what Crosby was (again, this was in Peewee folks, a lot can happen!!)

Im surprised no one has mentioned the number 1 thing about it

Don't get me wrong, He's skilled as crazy and anyone would kill to have his talent, but his attritude and temper needs to change QUICKLY. I saw him play a dozen times this year and know his coach. Seeing him and speaking to the coach, he's a prima dona. He cannot handle contact, every single time he gets touched, he slashes back, gets upset and often puts his team in trouble with discipline issues.
As a marked player, you need to be able to control your emotions

Someone made of video of Parent's highlight from last season.

He played Bantam AAA as a 2001, a league in which about 80% of the players were born in 2000 last year.

Decent skater. :sarcasm:

Crosby-like backhander.

So is the Q going to grant exceptional status in back-to-back years?

He has insane vision, reads, playmaking ability, and a lightning quick release. Pure superstar. How tall is he up to now?

And yeah, he's well on his way to exceptional status. *fingers crossed for the Mooseheads*

Unclear. Parent has been hyped far longer than Veleno in the media and has put up better numbers (though that does not mean much at all). On the other hand, Parent is 5'7" and 145 pounds according to last month's Hockey Québec camp roster. He is only 14 and should grow up a fair amount still but it is unclear exactly how big and physically mature he will be in 8-10 months. Therefore, he will have to be very dominant as a 14 year old Midget AAA player. Veleno was a 6'0" 14 year old Midget player...

Skating is off the charts indeed.

All depends on how Parent (and Xavier Simoneau for that matter) do as 14 year olds in midget.

I feel like Veleno's size also gave him a bit of an edge but Parent is the better player at the same age according to almost anyone who watched them play.
