It remains a mystery to me how Locke could have been that productive in the CHL. Last season he played in the FEL and couldn't do much (37 gp 5 g 12 a 17 p). And off he went.

If Reway really is much like Locke he has snowball's chance in hell to make it. So, saying Reway is like Locke amounts to throwing him under the bus. Not much generosity there.

Right. Reway is being thrown under the bus because Corey Locke didn't play well in Finland.

Funny thing, Habs drafted Locke at 133 overral and they also drafted Reway at 116 overral.

Reway has no problem with his skating.

Indeed, this is what I've been trying to say. He is NOT Corey Locke skating wise. Yet, some posters think he is and even that it should be seen as a compliment!

And Habs should have learned something after drafting Locke, don't you think?

And what comes to Drouin vs. Reway in skating department:

-nuff said. - The case is pretty much closed by this footage. Reway is even better skater than Drouin. That being said, Reway is essentially Drouin level talent. Is it a stretch? Nope.

1 more goal + 1 assist today.

He's now at 41 pts in 25 games (1.64 PPG)

He's now 6th in the scoring race (4/5 guys in front of him have played more games).

Just to be clear, with a youtube video as evidence, Reway is as talented as Drouin, and a better skater.

Well, I just think that it's a more accurate and fair comparison (Reway Drouin) than the one made between Reway and Locke. He is ESSENTIALLY Drouin level talent; not quite as good as of now lacking a bit in size department etc. but after gaining some muscle and experience - who knows...

And his skating - yup: you can see (in that clip) that his skating should not be an issue if it's not an issue with Drouin. The kid has quicker first steps than Drouin and seems to be as shifty as him, to say the least.

It would be sad if he will not be able to do transition to NHL. I want another regular 30+ sniper from Slovakia.

Have high hopes for all our Slovakia products with the Wings. Have two really good ones in Tatar and Jurco. My favorite is actually Tvrdon but I will admit he is a long shot and has some serious injury issues, just a huge fan of his and really pulling for him.

I am surprised he didn't produce in Finland, but Locke has been a flat out dominant player in the AHL, so dumping on his performance in the FEL isn't all that nice.

Reway is a significantly better skater than Locke in my opinion, but still should continue to improve that area. The big problem Locke ran into is he never really seemed to improve a single area. His point production picked up in the AHL as he got a little older and wiser, but his skill set never really changed, you always need to keep improving. Locke today is incredibly similar to the guy that dominated the OHL, really he made almost no gains whatsoever to his game over the years.

Is well known Reway said personally if he didn´t have problem with his living style (booze, disco) he would be taken in 1st round. So there is arguably a high chance he will become a huge steal in 4th round.
Problems with young generation of Slovak players is, that almost all are "TOP6 or bust" category. And such category often screams KHL later or sooner.

So, off-ice issues are the real reason why Reway went so late in the draft. That is news...

Most important part:
Reway himself knows well, that in his case, all could be better than mentioned 5th round. There is one big "if". "I'm a little bit sorry, that I wasted three years and instead of hockey I party more. Who knows, maybe then I would be taken in the 1st round. Nevermind, I can't change that now."
„Trochu teraz ľutujem, že som premárnil tri roky a miesto hokeja som si viac užíval. Ktovie, možno by som potom mohol byť draftovaný v prvom kole. Teraz to už vÅ¡ak nezmením,“ sypal si Réway popol na hlavu.

Question: I notice that both Reway and Poirier have similar point totals, who's benefitting of who? Is Reway only doing well because he's playing with Poirier, or do they just have good chemistry together?

Its just a speculation, nothing more.

Speculations? There is not written anything in the stone (1st round), but he clearly admits there are off-ice issues which slowed his development. That´s why he may look like hidden gem.

There you go guys, leading scorer of the World Junior Championships.

It's time for people to see how skilled he is.

I am THAT confident in him.:D He'll probably finish the tournament as a top 3 scorer.

That would shut up folks comparing him to Locke.

Performing in the WJC does not mean you are somehow some insanely good player with no chance of being a subpar player. Look at some of the names for did well in the WJCs.

Another tiny player to be productive at the junior levels. I doubt he becomes a significant NHLer.
