How is his skating at that size? Skill looks very good.
He’s definitely got room to improve on with his skating, but I don’t think it’s a weakness. Once he gets going he’s pretty quick due to his long strides and he has good acceleration. His agility is probably the weakness of his skating but than again he is just growing into his frame and that will certainly improve with coaching and work. Skating was one of the big things he worked on in the off-season.

Any projection yet as to where he will start the season within TPS lineup???

He’s been playing third line LW recently. I expect him to start the season there and move up the lineup as he progresses. Hard to know since TPS lineups were constantly changing during CHL games
Terrific size I noticed him last year at the World Juniors

Healthy scratch today in TPS first league game.

I see many people don´t like this decision but I think this is a correct. Give the kid some rest, don´t press on him. After senior WC he had a really short summer and then he played some pre-season games with Turku, Hlinka Gretzky, OGQ, Champions League in a very short time. Sometimes is a rest the most important thing - we´ll see what happens next but for now I´m absolutely OK with this decision.

Pärssinen will leave in a week for Preds camp, so there will be changes coming to the lineup, Slafkovsky being scratched might have something to do with that.

TPS u20 has lost first two matches in u20 league. This year the SM U20 liiga will be drastically cut (from 20 to 12 teams) after first 19 rounds. So maybe this is the reason why TPS put Slafkovsky and Knazko to U20 team, to help collect some points, to be safe...

Great observation right there:thumbu:

How massive was Lindros in his age?
I think he was pretty much the same size. I don’t think Lindros was at least bigger than that. A really massive and interesting player you Slovakians have in Slafkovsky. I’m usually a fan of big sized and very skilled players. I usually like them more than small speedsters that the NHL is having more and more nowadays. I will definitely be rooting for Slafkovsky doing very well in Liiga and hopefully becoming a true NHL superstar in a few years.

I know everyone wants to see him regularly in the TPS Liiga lineup but I think what people are forgetting is Slafkovsky only has 24 games experiance in the u20 league. Only 18 games last season including playoffs. He was good but didn't exactly light up the league. It's not the case of the player who has dominated but been stuck at that level for years and played 100 + games.

But he played on senior WCH and also senior Olympic Qualification. And he wasn't lost between man.

He's up to 225 lbs now , standing 6'4 at 17 years old. What a massive kid...

I just hope he's not gaining weight just for the sake of gaining weight, sometimes being lighter at that height is not a bad thing, especially if your skating is one of your weak points. For instance, I think both Nurse and Larsson slimmed down prior to last season and they both had great seasons. And I remember PLD bulking up after being drafted and really suffering as a result. More weight is not always better.
