First saw Lekkerimäki when he was 14 playing with Östlund and Odelius in SSK. Loved his game ever since. He’s always been a point producing machine despite not being the biggest, fastest or strongest guy. Leading TV-pucken in scoring -> Leading U18 WC is no coincidence. He’s got the offensive tools that REALLY matter: An elite goal scoring touch and fantastic hockey sense knowing exactly were the dangerous areas while having the execution to get the puck there quickly. Tell him to be the playmaker on his line and he will pile up the assists.

For me, Lekkerimäki’s overall offensive upside is higher than Eklund, Holtz or Raymond’s. Pettersson I would rank a little higher. Raymond and Eklund depend a lot on their puck carrying ability to produce while Holtz is a significantly more limited player overall. Those guys were all recent top-10 picks.

I’m also high on Lekkerimäki’s skating, he’s never going to be the most agile skater but give him a couple of years and I predict we will see an extremely explosive north-south skater. He needs to move his feet a lot more though, right now he’s having difficulties getting to pucks first because he’s often starting from stand still. That’s probably the biggest weakness I see in his game right now. I would also like to see more consistent effort in his checking game and along the boards, that should hopefully come once he’s no longer physically outmatched.

Overall a great pick.

Great pick, makes a lot of sense for Vancouver. I think he got a bit underrated and would have gotten more attention if Djurgården wasn't such a tirefire of a team.
Playing in Allsvenskan next season is okay, but I think he could handle SHL play.

Wonder if he could 'transfer'(?) to an SHL team like Pettersson did in his D+1 going from Timra to Vaxjo?

Seems like he's commited to Djugarden but wonder if that becomes a possibility.

I’m happy to read he has been added to the Summer WJC team in August and he should cement himself for the Team in December as a top 6 option. Summer development camp up first where he gets a fitness and nutrition plan in order to fill out his frame.

I would wager a loan becomes a strong possibility if he can stay anywhere close to PPG in Allsvenskan.

For a loan I think Djurgården have to accept it? And I don't see that happening. Also worth remembering he has one more year left in school before graduating which could make it more difficult to move around, if he's still in school that is.

10th of July seems to be the deadline for SHL teams to sign players from Allsvenskan for a certain fee.

I really wanted Habs to get him. Feel like he's going to be better than Dach.

This is a really solid get at 15. I don't think he'll be a world beater on offense like some here but 25-30 goals and 50-60 points is definitely within the realm of possibilities for him if he gets stronger and faster.

Buzzin at prospect camp, everyone is raving at his shot and IQ..

Cant believe this guy is only 17 yrs old and already did some damage in the SHL.

Looking forward to seeing him at the WJC in August and December
