I think it's hilarious to look at him in the D zone. He's not awful or detrimental at all, but literally out of place in that he defends where he pleases. Front of the net? Sure. Either side? Ok. Center? Yeah why not. The effort is there, but maybe too much sometimes.
He definitely could have better or at least more steady positioning. But on the other hand he is exactly very active and does also quite a lot of good things with it defensively. It might be a bit chaotic occasionally, but on the other hand I haven’t noticed that it has often lead into dangerous situations at his own end, and at least hasn’t lead into a lot of goals. Although I think that exactly in last JYP game there was probably one situation where his positioning after all probably lead, at least partially, to the opposing team’s goal. I just havent seen this happen often. Also his +/- stats also implies that it couldn’t have happened very often.

Someone needs to clip it where he bodychecks defender, wins puck and generates scoring chance, but misses it.

To be honest that wasnt really a that impressive of a shot, might have fumbled on it abit but the goalie was screened. He can shoot well though that is for sure.
Honestly I don’t think you even understand the situation. He went to the crowded zone with the puck and had to stickhandle a bit before he could shoot safely and anyway he had very little of time and space. Honestly the shot was pretty much perfect for that kind of situation. The release is exactly very quick. Which means how quickly he gets the shot to leave his stick from when he even starts the shooting manouver. And the shot was perfectly placed which is the most important thing when shooting from that area and that close to the goal. Just give him the credit he clearly deserves. You don’t have to add these buts to everything good he does.

This kid knows how to play hockey.

Kemell has uncanny ability to generate scoring chances out of nowhere. Should be a ton of fun watching how the season plays out for him. So far been head and shoulders ahead of Lambert. Actually thought I'd be watching Lambert and side-eyeing Kemell but seems to be another way around now.

Lambert has been such a unfortiunate dissapointment :( It must be rough for him given the expectations of people..

This kid is something. After 9 games he has scored 7+3=10 points. For a 17yo player that is just sick. And the fact that Kemell doesn't turn 18 until april makes his accomplishments even more amazing.

Few weeks ago he already broke the record of being youngest player to score a goal in his first 3 FEL games. The previous record belonged to Petri Skriko followed by Esa Tikkanen.

He's moving up draft rankings without a doubt. Once these NA guys get their seasons underway we will see where he stacks up against them in the top-10 and maybe even top-5.

He will be the second overall pick this summer and if his production doesn’t drop too much hell be closer to 1st pick than to 3rd pick
That's a bit of a stretch. Shane Wright is much ahead of anyone in this draft. I can see Kemell in the Savoie, Mirosnichenko, Slafkovsky range though.

Kemell sure is looking promising for top 10 but chill with the 2nd OA talking, he has good finishing ability and decent understanding of the game, decent hands and pretty good skating, i don't see a complete enough player to go top 3 just yet, if he improves his vision/passing then we can start maybe hyping for potentially top3.

Yeah he isn't going first. If he wants to go first he needs to do like closer to 40 goals and that would be Liigas record on modern day hockey. Even then Wright is center and massively skilled one.

People are blowing things up. It is still early season and teams will start to focus on him more.

Wright wont get knocked off 1st OA he's litterally a MackKinnon with lesser skating.

Yup exactly. I can't see it happening. People in Finland dont understand how good prospect he is and they are also thinking Kemel can keep scoring like this for rest of the season.

Just amazing start for him. I think he'll slow down as the season progresses. I can't imagine his body being ready that he can continue playing like this especially when he's going to get WJC games on top of these Liiga games. That's fine though and I am sure that he's able to impress the scouts.

Wright is lock as 1st oa unless there is a serious injury, etc. He is to become a franchise 1st C. Kemell might become an elite scorer in NHL level but still a legit star C is more valuable. At this moment I'd predict Kemell to be in top5 or even push to top3 if he can continue this way. I was expecting Brad Lambert to be most exiting finnish player of this draft class but his stocks seem to be getting down while Kemell's rise.

My first post here, and I wanted to comment about Kemell's mature game. It's really impressive how he's taken the team into his piggyback. Especially now when Turkulainen and Gardiner are having a slow start to the season. And it's not just about points, Kemell's physical play and willing to backcheck is great as well. It will be fun to see competition between Kemell and Lambert going into the NHL Entry Draft.
