I have to say watching JYP play is so painful, most players play with half a monkeys brain, can't say Jukurit have been much better neither it's like watching a beer league, man has Liiga regressed.

When you get used to NHL, watching other leagues is hard. First period was good, second was bad

You can´t ruled it out he´ll be 1st overall pick in 2022. Easily you can´t.
I´ll not be surprised if it´s only between him and Wright, this kid is unbelievably on fire.

hah I stopped watching the game at 55 minutes when Kalpa lead 4-1 then Kemell gets 2+1 bummer
Same, but I realized my mistake and put the stream back on to see the game winner. I'm getting Laine (in his draft year)-vibes from how Kemell is just scoring from anywhere in any situation right now.

I have to agree. Of course it is still highly unlikely to happen, that he would get picked before Wright. I could see it still happen, if he scores over 30 goals in the regular season, has strong WJC and gets even picked to Finland’s WHC team in the springtime. All this to happen is not really that likely, but if it would happen after all, I could see him even picked as 1st, if the right kind of team happens to pick 1st.

He has been a lot better than Laine was then in the regular season though. But sure, right now it reminds quite much how Laine played that season in the playoffs. He was amazing and was nominated the playoffs MVP, when his team Tappara won the Liiga championship. Kemell’s play does definitely remind right now Laine’s play then.

One of the more ludicrous endings to a game I have seen, I sense a bit of a Kemell mania brewing, at least here in Jyväskylä. Laine and Puljujärvi were pretty big audience draws when they played away games and I am noticing that Kemell is becoming a bit like that. I just hope Finns do not start bashing Wright here like they did with Matthews and Hughes, no amount of bashing him here will change how the draft goes. Kemell had two scoring chances on Thursday, tonight he was luckier and scored with similar chances so this does not feel totally unsustainable.

Kemell is slowing starting to separate himself from miroshnichenko, Savoie, Nemec, Jiricek and others for the second best prospect in this draft
Yes, this is what it is right now. No way he could be chosen before Wright, if the draft was right now. And as I said, it’s not likely that he can get picked before Wright even at draft day. I see it only then possible, if Kemell can keep doing what he has been doing so far this season, and does it quite consistently through the whole season and does in at WJC and WHC as well. And at the same time he would need to be clearly better than Wright at the WJC and also at the WHC, if they both happen to play there too. Not a likely scenario to happen definitely.

He is incredible but Wright is sensational and he s a center. Wright will be no. 1 and rightfully so. Let's not start a kemell vs Wright discussion because it will be another painful thread after thread of nonsense post draft. Kemell is good though. Real good. I'm very excited.

Pro vs Junior league thou..... i don't think center position matters this time, much at all.

Wright lit up the under 18 tournament, is Canadian center with immense talent and leadership abilities.

I'm support Finland but I try to give a balanced view. I think there's such a strong chance kemell could go no. 2. But no. 1 is completely locked down in my view. Wright will have to have a bad season which he won't because he s too darn good.

If we take this view now, we can just enjoy the kemell ride in his draft season. He s a sensational talent I'm very excited about. This has been a great enjoyable thread to read. Let's not have yet another prospect thread ruined with insults and put downs from rival fans. Let's just enjoy the talent for once. On his own. Kemell is massively enjoyable. This has been such an enjoyable thread to date. One of the better ones. Let's keep it that way. A celebration of a great player.

You can't rule it out, but I'd give it a fairly small chance of happening. I think that first pick is Wright like 98%.
Probably higher than that , the only way I see a chance for another outcome is if Kemell scores 40+ goals and 70+ points in liiga this year , and on top of that destroys the world juniors and dominates in the men's world championships. If he does that then there's a chance.

There was already kids with KEMEL signs and when Kemel did 4-4 goal, whole arena was standing and clapping. That happens rarely

Yeah Kemell isn't going to challenge for no.1 pick but he should be strong candidate for whoever picks second.

Awesome young man. Proud to be a Finnish hockey fan right now.

Kemell's success aside people need to calm down the hype, he still needs to improve in other areas than goal scoring if he wants to go in the top 3.

It's not like Wright playing at a solid Junior league discredits him in this case when you actually watch him play lmao.
No one is claiming that Kemell will likely get past Wright, so calm down. Maybe even you could sometimes praise Kemell’s play and how special he is as a talent? So far I have seen you practically only belittling him as a player. If you ever say anything even remotely positive about him, there is always a ”but” in the same sentence.

Too bad if you had some other players as your favorites in this draft and now Kemell has clearly passed them with ease. Just get over it and get rid of your bitter feelings, and start acknowledging How good Kemell really is. Because if you just keep finding those ”buts” and trying to bring it down how Kemell is playing, you won’t do any favors to how your understanding of the game really is looking like.
