He's still behind Wright, Lambert, Savoie, Nemec, Mirosnichenko, and Slafkovsky for me at the moment. But that is expected to change once all the NA guys like McGroarty, Cooley, Chesley and Geekie start playing.

Honestly just forgot about guys like Yurov, and Jiricek. And who really knows what we have in any of the draft eligible OHL guys this year as they haven't even played an OHL game yet in their careers. This draft is deep.

Yeah, this draft looks pretty unbelievable talentwise and the order behind Wright is very much up in the air. Any of these players could make a case for the 2nd overall and it will be very interesting to see how the rankings change throughout the season. The thing going against Kemell that might prevent him from becoming 2nd overall is that he's a winger and when you have this many promising centers and defencemen, teams might choose to take one of those instead of a winger.

Teams that end up drafting in the top 10 should be pretty happy with whoever they get.

I wonder if Kemel keeps it up or he fizzles into another middle first rounder. Kid does have a good toolset but the players coming out of finland forward wise have been very lack luster (looking DIRECTLY at you kakko)

yes but Kakko has done little besides his muscle and strength. I wanna see why he was considered 2nd overall at the very least. I feel the same with Laine and how fast he gets demotivated, and the less said about Puljujarvi the better

I don't. He's not even close to a Kassian at all. He can be someone who uses their muscle and scores a ton like a certain NY winger but he doesn't play like that. I see his strength as a rival and I just envy him to get in the dirty areas so much more often. That's what will make Kakko better, but this isn't about Kakko at all, it's about Kemall

Came here to see comments about Lambert:sarcasm: but instead we get Kakko and Kassian?o_O

I know it's a really big ask but sometimes I like to look at a thread about a prospect and see something actually about the prospect, weird eh?

Wow, guy brings in Kakko to the discussion (with some crappy arguments) and then says the thread is about Kemell :D

Wow, Kakko was one of the worst forwards defensively his first year, then his sophmore year he actually improved to being one of the best forwards defensively in the entire league, offense is still not there but he\s shown flashes of it and has stuggled because of being physically not ready yet, to make Kakko as an example for some made up statement that Finland has put out bad forwards recently just made you look like a fool.

I still look at someones offense if they're a rookie. Kakko needs to do more of that as well to prove why he was a 2nd overall. it's there, but show me more.

No shit. But the comment you came here with was " but the players coming out of finland forward wise have been very lack luster (looking DIRECTLY at you kakko)"

Kinda sounds to me like you've already determined what he is and ever will be. The dude is 20 years old, chill.

Well, you probably got what you wanted with all these replies, doubt there was any intention other than to get a rise out of people.

Finish forwards have been lacklustre. Rantanen, aho, barkov, teravainen, Hintz... I mean seriously. Clearly many on this board decide a players future at 20. Its simply a case of young finnish players getting thrown in early and needing some time to adjust. Let's see what KK, Kakko, tolvanen, lundell etc. are at the 23 mark. Then let's talk.

And this applies to so many other players who are thrown out there before their 20th birthday and don't immediately explode. People are so impatient nowadays it's crazy. It used to be like "ok we drafted this kid, I guess we'll see him in action in 4 or 5 years" and now if they don't put up 50+ points two years after they are drafted they are busts.

This website loves to drag Kakko for lackluster point totals, but they have no problem not doing so for other players. They’ve bet big against Kakko.
Might be partly due to the insane ”Kakko > Hughes” hype some finnish posters were spewing on this board.

Comparisons often do create a scenario where posters lavish praise on their favourite and the other one sucks no matter what. Both these players took good steps last season and both will turn out to be really really good players imo. It's just right now they are very young and learning on the job in a very tough league. They ll get there.

As will kemell. He has all the tools. Exciting prospect whether he goes 2nd or last in the draft.

I’m not even talking about Hughes. He’s been criticized plenty. Hughes and Kakko deserve criticism, and have gotten it.

I’m talking about many other players that aren’t allowed to be criticized. But I’m not trying to derail this thread, so I’m not going to start naming names. The names are irrelevant to my point.

Scored another goal today. Being able to produce in a garbage team like Jyp is impressive. Also I have to laugh at the person who said he has it easy with Helenius. Helenius is a nice shutdown center, but offensively he gives zero help.

Even more impressive when you consider line he is playing in.

None of them are great offensively, well Kemel ofc but anyway.
