I still don't think Nazar's skating is quite up what it was yet but give him an offseason of training and he'll be right back to himself.. which is crazy considering he's still plenty fast as it is.

And these guys with their cellys I love it. Savoie, Ludwinski, Nazar the boys can bring it in that department. Maybe Fantilli should be the pick cuz he's another one who has some good ones.

hopefully Nazar gets more playing time as he gets up to speed. No Adam fantilli or mcgroarty tonight yet he still barely got any PP time and was on the third pair of forwards out in overtime

Unfortunately I think that'll be the case the rest of this season. He'll be the guy next season once a few of those guys leave for the AHL or NHL (Fantilli included).

Nazar 100% will go back and be the 1C for Michigan .

It was back to back high intensity games against their arch rival and these were the first games he'd played for months after recovering from surgery. Maybe the coach was aware of the situation and managed his minutes a bit. He'll get the playing time he earns and I expect that as he plays more games he'll earn more playing time.

Dach who?????????????????
This is sassy but I liked it. I do hope Colton continues progressing though and holds no ill-will towards the Hawks. Wouldn’t mind seeing how he can plug in eventually and give it a go as a buzzsaw type role.

Colton Dach=Kevin Hayes??? we shall see- (not player--but sticking it to Hawks office for treating Kirby like a tool)... Not developing him... Hard to believe The Kirby Dach in videos posted on these thread--RUNNING people over... is the same Fragile kid that played for Hawks!!!???

I am so ready to fall in love and irrationally overrate Blackhawk prospects.

No doubt many fans overrate their prospects, including me. In defense of that irrationality, it's one of the fun things of being a fan, especially a fan of a bad team where the only thing to hang your hat on is irrational hopium - so I ain't giving up my hope until their legs fall off or some unavoidable conclusion otherwise.

Although he was plainly a reach where they took him, I’ve seen absolutely nothing but positive reports about Allan since he’s been drafted.

Since I found a free streaming channel I can access, I've watched 6 of Seattle's last 7 games keeping an eye on both Korchinski and Allan. I had high hopes for Korchinski and have not been disappointed at all - I think his ceiling is top pairing and his floor is second pairing. Allan has played better than I was expecting and although he doesn't have the elite skating of Korchinski - he's solid in all areas and I think he has a very good chance to be a regular NHL d-man - most likely not a top-4 guy but maybe more like a 4/5 guy.

Allan has all the tools to be a steady NHL D for a long time. Nothing flashy. But, good size, strength, skating, good passer and decent shot. He is basically a better skating McCabe

I don't even disagree.

But drafting a bottom pairing defenseman in the 1st round is a miss.

Bottom pairing D are a dime a dozen. Easy to find in later rounds, easy to find playing in Europe, cheap to sign in free agency, easy to trade for.

It wasn't a good pick no matter how you spin it.

If he turns into a shutdown 4, that’s a fine pick. Seems like the door is still open for that.

However, seems like Wheeler from the Athletic is more in your camp when it comes to Allan. So we’ll see.

Regardless, he’s a guy Davidson inherited. If he turns into something useful, cool. But I doubt Davidson’s plans hinge on Allan.

I'm not trying to spin anything - I'm simply reporting what my (untrained) eye has seen while taking care to not be overly optimistic. The fact is Allan is 20 and has time to improve and from what I've observed has no glaring weakness that would prevent him from doing so. His skating is good enough, his defensive awareness and instincts seem good enough, he has enough size to not need elite skating or scoring to be effective in the NHL, he engages physically ... in short, he has a chance to be a decent NHL d-man.

Admittedly I'm more forward looking than others who like to look back and play the "what could have been" game. Rightly or wrongly - Allan is a Hawks prospect and I'm hopeful that he can be a part of the rebuild going forward.

But also no glaring strengths.

To be a top 4 d-man you need some kind of attribute that'll put you over the edge.

Allan doesn't have that.

So either he's a bottom pairing, or worse a career AHLer. Hopefully the former, but we've got lots of those guys in the system and it's easy to get more. So what is Allan going to do that separates him from the crowd?

I doubt Hjalmarsson had any of those attributes you so desperately looked for when he was coming up. I mean think about it, he wasn’t some amazing skater, he wasn’t overly physical, his offensive output was laughable at best. Yet he became one of the best defensive defensemen to ever play the game.

No I’m not saying Allan will be close to that good. But you have no idea, especially with defensemen, when they’re all of the sudden going to put it together.

I couldn't possibly know what Hammer was like as a prospect.

But I know what Allan is like as a prospect, and I know he's not Hammer.
