Nick Paul scored some huge goals and was a force out there. Way bigger impact than Kampf.

I don't think I saw him much this year, especially in the playoffs.

His impact is better, but he's also paid more for longer. Seems to fit.

Sorry Nylander, we only have 8.8m for you. You want 9.5? TOO BAD.

Kampf, buddy, here's an extra 1.5m so you can...kill penalties at an ok rate.

Kampf sont just kill penalty, hes the best defensive player of the team with marner

And you laught about kampf but despite the fact hes never started an offensive faceoff and played most the time on defensive situation... hes only got 2 assist less than nylander at 5v5 last 2 playoff...

What is the real issue here?

It can't be that Kampf got a $700,000 raise.

Is the real issue that AM/WN need to take a pay cut?

Nope. It's an overpay. On a 4th liner. And their next move is to resign Kerfoot.

Whooshed right on overhead, did it? Read the next part carefully.

It's for the people who couldn't see that Shanny makes all the calls - no matter who the GM is. But it is funny to see the pendulum swing the other way when suddenly overpayments framed as good deals based solely on the name of the GM.
Whooshed!
Right on!

Going to see the next moves.

Not a fan of Kampf as he is reliable but very vanilla. Need to hit and score more to justify his contract.

He is expensive for a 4C and should not be our 3C.

He is slightly overpaid, who cares about if he got a raise or not?

The contract is not bad, but he is slightly overpaid, and Treliving has overpaid a lot of UFAs recently.

Just how Colorado/Tampa/Vegas/Florida all built there teams - a nice, low event style of play :ha:

Some of you think you are the smartest people in the room.

Hate to break it to you but Kampf is very similar to how Sturm, Staal, Bellemare, Eller, etc. have been playing. If anything, he does a fair bit more than most of those guys on those teams.

Even Roy from Vegas is not drastically different, but he is used a little bit more offensively but is worse defensively.

Notice that none of these guys are really any more "physical" or "gritty" than Kampf, who is far from a slouch even if he is not laying out a ton of monster hits... which is not something a center like him should be in the position to do very often anyways; at least if he is doing his job right.

Like I am personally good with the deal. It is neither good nor bad in a vacuum, but with the state of the market and how bad other deals could easily be for centers, this is a solid enough move. At least it wasn't a "bad" move like you are claiming.

The bottom 6 was pretty bad most of the year until Acciari showed up, and a big part of that was Kampf's massive limitations in transition and offensively. He needs linemates to break the puck out for him and keep plays alive, or he's going to constantly play in the Leafs' end shift after shift

Are we going to give him more opportunities to do so? Because 20-25 ES points out of a guy who starts in his own end 80+% of the time, and is not exactly given offensively inclined linemates to help him generate more offense, is pretty damn solid.

I like Kampf, so don't mind bringing him back at that term. However, that cap hit is a bit high especially given our cap situation. I guess this means he will be the 3C with possibly Holmberg as the 4C as others have said.

Obviously too early, but was not a fan of the Tre hiring so this isn't the greatest of starts. If he brings back Kerfoot though, then he can stay in Nashville.
