105 points in his D-1 season. How does that rank vs players drafted in the last 15 years? I know Crosby had 135.

And is his points total better than any first time draft eligible player this draft?

Can't really compare with Crosby's D-1. In terms of age and experience, he's closer to Sid's D season where he had 168 points. Lafrenière in is D-1 season is only two months younger than Crosby in his draft season.

I think Taylor Hall is the best measuring stick. He had 90 points in 63 games.

Hall and Tavares are probably the best as highly hyped late-birthday players. Next year, Patrick Kane could be used.

Should also be noted Hall had an absolutely dominate playoff run at 17. Getting 36 points in 20 games in the OHL Playoffs to win OHL Playoffs MVP and 8 points in 6 games to win Memorial Cup MVP.

Doubt Rimouski goes far enough for him to have that kind of impact. Though, who knows? The favorites are not exactly looking great so far in the Q playoffs. Rimouski and Drummondville will be the only teams to have swept in the first round.

Who is comparing Lafreniere to McDavid, give your head a shake. Not in the same league at all.

Lafreniere will be good one, Quebec needs a star like him bad.

Probably the most hyped Quebecois player since Vinny. The last 2 superstar talents (who were hyped as such entering there draft) out of the QMJHL were both Halifax kids.

I remember Angelo Esposito being very hyped after his rookie season. Ended up being his peak though.

Yeah, Radulov inflated his point total to an insane level. People were annoyed when he didn't get a WJC invite at 16. His stock imploded in his draft year.

Spoke too soon on that one.

Yep, my bad. It's a bit strange to see so many first round series be competitive this year.

The new playoff format is horrible and that’s probably why. Obviously, there is no reason for RN’s struggles but the Eastern Conference is SIGNIFICANTLY deeper than the Western Conference this year. 8 of the top 10 teams are in the Eastern Conference. Obviously, RN and Drummondville are seen as the best teams.

A team like Baie Comeau (4th overall) gets stuck playing Moncton (9th overall), or Charlottetown vs CB (6th vs 7th overall) while in the Western Conference Sherbrooke (10th overall) gets to play Blainville (14th overall) and Victoriaville (12th overall) plays Val d’Or (13th overall). I understand they did this to have less travel but it’s led to matchups where much worse teams will be able to get through as a result.

Lafreniere was easily the best skater on the ice tonight. 2 goals in a 3-0 win, he could've easily had 5 points. This kid is phenomenal and it was a genuine privilege to watch him play live tonight.

Much love to Kakko and Hughes, but I would take Alexis ahead of them both if they were hypothetically in the same draft class, and I wouldn't think twice about it. What a player.

Ante is up for Lafreniére in the play-offs.
19 points in 9 games so far (7+12), that's 2.11 ppg.

Rimouski advances, Alexis is 2 points behind the 1st place in points.
1. Abbandonato 21 points (2.10 ppg) 2. Lavoie 20 points (1.81 ppg) 3. Lafreniére 19 points (2.11 ppg)

Rimouski top 3: 1. Lafreniére 19 points, 2. Huntington 13 points, 3. Garneau 13 points

Alexis is a gamer. Next year's WJC is gonna be a hell of show for him. Kid can play and wants to win.

I'd pick him 1st overall over any recent or this year's 1st overall picks not named McDavid. Over Matthews and Dahlin even though both are special players.

Over Dahlin? I don't think so.

I'm not saying that can't change a year from now, but from what I've seen of Laf so far, I don't know if he has the same kind of potential I see in Dahlin.
