I think this may be one of those scenarios where even IF the scouts have someone over Bedard - you don’t want to be the GM that puts his job on the line over a decision that is that close - go with the media darling that the fans have convinced themselves will go #1.

So… a player that is:

Born and raised in Ontario

Played his youth hockey in Toronto

Has represented Canada internationally on two separate occasions - once at a IIHF sanctioned event, meaning he is locked into representing that nation for the foreseeable future.

is going to represent America because first of all - it‘s your opinion that is based on: “HE PLAYS IN AMERICA”

There are some pretty knowledgeable posters in this thread telling you Fantilli is a Canadian that has, and will continue to represent Canada internationally.

If you didn’t know, once a player represents a certain country at a IIHF sanctioned event, that player cannot play for another country unless they have played a minimum of 4 years in another country, and haven’t represented their original nation in that time span.

In Adam Fantilli’s case, he has played in a IIHF sanctioned event in the previous 4 years - He represented Canada at the U18‘s; Just 5 months ago, so going forward he will play for Canada internationally.

It‘s not Canada vs USA, it’s not my opinion vs yours.

It is a fact.

I don't see Fantilli passing Bedard. I agree with @WhiskeyYerTheDevils that Fantilli's production will slow down as the season progresses. I think Carlsson vs. Fantilli for the second best Center available will be the real big debate come the draft
