Bedard is generational

Interesting nonetheless.
I think this may be one of those scenarios where even IF the scouts have someone over Bedard - you don’t want to be the GM that puts his job on the line over a decision that is that close - go with the media darling that the fans have convinced themselves will go #1.
Wright was underperforming for a first overall pick tho. Bedard is over 2 points/game and leading the next highest scoring player by 13 points, and is 3 years younger than him. It is definitely different. This was said a year ago with Wright. No different now
I mean other then the fact one player was Shane Wright and the other is Connor Bedard. Sure. This was said a year ago with Wright. No different now
Or players with an NHL future!it's a good thing for Canada that Fantilli isnt in the NHL yet then
The player in the ICU is out and getting better apparently. There's a podcast with the head coach and he mentioned players are getting more and more healthy by the day.Updates on how Fantilli and the rest of the Michigan boys are doing recovering from the illness?
Here are the prospects I would’ve ranked above Fantilli pre-draft (as it stands today) over the last decade:
2023: Bedard, Michkov
2022:
2021: Power
2020: Lafreniere
2019: Hughes, Kakko
2018: Dahlin
2017:
2016: Matthews
2015: McDavid, Eichel
2014:
The 2 NYR guys really stand out on this list....and not in a good way either.
Probably*I would like to state - that Fantilli will represent Canada internationally.
Some lucky team will have Michkov land in their lap, and he'll be on a wonderful ELC by the time his KHL contract is over and the team that drafted him is ready to start pushing for the playoffs.Wright was underperforming for a first overall pick tho. Bedard is over 2 points/game and leading the next highest scoring player by 13 points, and is 3 years younger than him. It is definitely different.
That said, Fantilli has clearly entered the 2nd overall race with his play this year, and Michkov's contract/overall situation going on in Russia. Gonna be a fun one to watch.
What is Fantilli better at than Bedard besides being big? I mean really? Physical maturity?I’m starting to have this kid over Bedard. I think both will have amazing careers but I’m more confident than Fantilli will do it at centre. I think there’s a chance Bedard gets move to the wing.
I am coming out and saying this officially for the first time so I’m on record:
***i would select Fantilli over Bedard***
This kid is that good. He ticks every single box. Every one. And I think in 3 years he will already be a top 10 centre in the league and at his peak he is top 5 maybe only behind mcdavid, mackinnon and Matthews. I have him right after
I have no problem with someone saying Bedard > Fantilli . I can totally understand that. I think I prefer Fantilli but it’s splitting hairs. Can’t go wrong with either one. What is Fantilli better at than Bedard besides being big? I mean really? Physical maturity?
Bedard has every skill you’d want in a top 5 player and a super star. Sure, Bedard will need to adjust his game a bit, but he has almost all the intangibles you’d want. The man is on a 150 point pace.
But it's not "ceteris paribus". Bedard is objectively better at most everything except being big.I have no problem with someone saying Bedard > Fantilli . I can totally understand that. I think I prefer Fantilli but it’s splitting hairs. Can’t go wrong with either one.
I honestly have no counter argument other than he’s bigger and all else being equal, I would prefer size down the middle
Please don’t ever use ceteris paribus lolBut it's not "ceteris paribus". Bedard is objectively better at most everything except being big.
But he’s saying all things aren’t equalPlease don’t ever use ceteris paribus lol
and I know I’m just saying generally all things equal I prefer big. Especially if it means one is more likely to play centre than another. I still think Bedard plays centre but it’s not a sure thing
