GDT: Exhibition game - Slovakia Vs Czech Republic

Extraliiga is no slouch...

And he's only 16...

Seems to Me he's got to be close...

Honestly, Extraliga is not where you go to find Elite Dmen... get him to Sweden or the CHL. Hronek is our best D by far and he went in round 2 I believe. I'm not even sure if I'd 'trust' drafting a Czech D in round 1.. we really dont' have that many good ones anymore.

Pleasantly happy with Has' quiet play. Seems to be always positionally sound, never lets his guy get behind him, wins the board battles, keeps the puck in play, calm with the breakout pass. Doesn't jump in the rush but thats to be expected with Svozil playing so well. Showed a strong wrister from the point on that Novak goal.

Here's to hoping he makes it to the Caps blue line in the future!

I am having such horrible flashbacks to Jets seasons watching the Slovaks lay back on a PK...

I think I'm coming down with Tourrete's ... it's so maddening to watch... ugh...

I have used that for many years. It's not up to date anymore. Doesn't have many prospects loaded. Lambert is for example but Slafkovsky and Hejduk aren't.

I still use it for NHL players, as I like the interface alot more than Eliteprospects

Not sure if it's the Czech PP that looks so good, but I think more likely SVK needs a lot of work on their PK.

Czech PP is okay but the Slovaks really allow a lot of space to move around...

I legit think he will.. not a second coming or anything but a solid season in AHL and he might be knocking on the door. He's quite good!

Wow, another penalty and starting on the PK for period 3. Honestly, the score doesn't show how this game could've gone.. it's just bad penalties for Slovakia.

I think Czechs have sat a few starters.. I've barely seen Kubicek, Klikorka, Mysak etc.

I think this game helps Slovakia get ready for the Swiss more than it helps us get ready for the Swedes.

Czechs really clogged it up for the Slovaks in period 2. Hopefully Parik goes in net for period 3.

The Slovaks have many underage players and it is too apparent on the play. A few really speedy guys there but they cannot yet compare physically. The Czech D has been looking promising in the 2nd, but at the same time the Slovaks did not test it so much.

The AHL is a bitch...

Not easy travel... very physical... extremely demanding...

And low pay compared to what Spacek will get back in Europe... with the life style... and environment he grew up in...

I remember trying to describe a road trip to a guy in Sweden wondering why so many WHL players were so Pro ready... versus playing Pro in Sweden on pure mileage comparison alone...

I described the road trips alone... 6 days at a time... starting in Medicine Hat... moving down to Tri-Cities... to Kelowna... to Calgary, Lethbridge and Edmonton...

There was no Google maps back then to chart mileage... hard to comprehend...

Spacek played for Red Deer... then the Moose in the AHL...

That is like the Bataan death march...

The PK isn't challenging and are giving too much room plus the Defenders are afraid to block shots they may get hurt! It takes a special type of crazy to play PK they don't have it

Very true... I've always said if I wanted to be an NHLer I'd go to the AHL.. if I wanted to make a living playing hockey, no way I'd choose the AHL.

I remember Kypreos make a joke years ago about how the AHL is amazing because once you go down there you never want to return.lol

FTR..I do think AHL is number 2 in the world and people hate that! My reasoning is beause 90 percent of NHL D and Goalies played in the AHL before joining the NHL. 2 seasons ago, all the best Czechs were in the AHL too... simek, spacek, chytil, necas, zadina, kase, francouz...

But, no, I wouldn't want to be a career AHLer.. I'll take Swizterland!
