Filip Mesar getting a little more playing time this period, one of the three 16 year-olds on Slovakia. It was his man that scored the 5th Czech goal. This is a young Slovak team. Heads up boys. Your time will come.:)
Penalties was a big part of this.. I'll be cheering like crazy for Slovakia against the Swiss.

I don't think I've ever seen that play before?

Slovak guy shot it from behind his net the full length of the ice behind the Czech net and a Slovak was coming... it's a good plan in theory.

Like I say, big Slovak fan.. another big factor here is that this is a veteran Czech team playing a youthful Slovak one missing their top player. Exhibition means nothing.

I think the Czech Republic needs to do a better job of keeping their young talent in their country and then developing them! The Czechs use to produce some great great players and still do it just seems like not as many

History is a bitch...

And I am a spoiled Western Canadian...

Pardon Me... but they had no where to go back then... and there was structure because of that...

Change even if it brings other good things also can change things for the worse in other areas...

Czechoslovakia had amazing teams... they were the only real competition for the Soviet Union...

I grew up watching the Statsny's... incredible players... and there were more Popsiocil... Bednar... Bubla... skip forward 20 years to 91' Canada Cup...

Still C-S... Jagr, Berenak, Cigar, Palfy, Kron, Kucera, Musil, Pivonka, Reichel, Slegr, Rucinsky...

Wow...

Takes money and a stable organization like Hockey Canada or USTNP...

i mean they've been getting absolutely stuffed on every entry so i can't fault them for trying.. the sedins made that play a few times iirc

can't help but feel like the score kinda betrays the slovak team, they were good early but got broken by the special teams and the czech team just fed off it.. both teams play damn-near NHL systems from the looks of it and even though they obviously make more mistakes, they both look great imo

I'm literally cracking one more beer because you mentioned Kron! The original Brno NHLer! And it'll be an IPA since you don't like Pilsners.lol

I think Petrovicky's master plan was to take as many penalties as possible in this exibition game. He knows they will spend a half of the game on PK against Canada and Finland.

The big boy, Juraj Slafkovský, at times reminds me of Marian Hossa. He's big, he's hard to physically take the puck away from. Hard to tell sometimes that he is just 16.

Simon Nemec just sent Turansky alone after feathering him that pass. Turansky did nothing. Thank goodness Cajkovic isn't there, God forbid we have forwards that know how to finish.

Am I the only one that thinks that the Czech skated direcly into Knazko's head? That's a poor call.

I still can't believe we have a guy who's playing in the NAHL in the WJC. Surely we could've gotten someone better than him

Slovaks now have 5 minutes to work on PK. Not like they haven't had a chance so far.

I watched Hossa in the WHL being a season ticket holder in the WHL at the time...

He'd come into town with Portland...

He was dominant below the dots and behind the goal line...

Powerful and dynamic... had HHOF written all over him...

Amazing player in the WHL...
