McDavid seems afraid to get injured, I completely understand may I add, but he seems more hesitant than the guy we saw in the 1st game or last year. (He does need power forwards, seems like he plays a bit more aggressive then)

Eichel seems to be trying to play the role of a 2-way player and play more defensively sound. And for the most part he's done well, aside from his lack of flash and dash.

Matthews is playing with reckless abandon, he's not doing dumb stuff at that point, but will likely wear himself out as he seems to have the last two games as well. He starts off flying then slows as the game drags on. McEichel have a year under their belt hence are better at pacing themselves.

He has definitely dialled it back this game, but there has been a lot of confusion and terrible breakouts/passing so far today. Haven't really been that many opportunities for him to really go all out.

Like I said, as long as he doesn't get injured this tournament, he could score 0 points and I wouldn't care. Its a warm up tournament for when it really matters and Edmonton needs him healthy to start the year.

Even Miller or Saad would be good options. This benefits the team more too. Put Nuge and MacKinnon back together, they work excellent together.

Or Trochek. There are some functional options with McDavid, Drouin and MacKinnon aren't ones.

The beauty of players like him and Crosby is that they can make so good use of potato wingers and create incredible depth on the team's scoring lines. But like Crosby, McDavid doesn't really work with players he's not suited to play with.

Yeah it seems like that's the crux of my observation when I said "he's not using them here". If you can find a post where I said McDavid is gonna suck or have a bad season cause of how he's playing in these exhibitions I'd love to see them.

I'm aware, but its become redundant with that same thing being repeated like a broken record for a lot of the players in these threads. Anyone who expected to see players performing at their best in this tournament were setting themselves up for disappointment.

Its almost like he's playing in a pre-tournament game of a pre-season tournament. Who would have thought that players would have rust and might not have their timing down.

People have been really good in their analysis I think. Lots of fans from other teams see what we see, McDavid is best with a power forward and big bodied wingers.

Actually, I think this Team NA has had the most analysis out of any team. It's actually good to see, lots of good insights from posters.

It's still always important to point out that these are exhibition games.

Chemistry doesn't necessarily have to be apparent here to be existent down the road.

We saw that Eichel and Reinhart worked really well together last season so I'm curies why he isn't there...not that anyone who is there are bad but we've seen players picked based on things that already works before so I'm curies why not now...oh well, hopefully they find something that works anyway.

Did anyone see the dressing room that team NA got? That was just horrible. a broom closet, come the **** on.

I dont think it was actually a broom closet. Im assuming that its the basketball away teams dressing room. So whoever is playing U of PITT gets that room.

Agreed, fans of so many teams watching and deciding for themselves what they think of these players.

16 shots for Team NA, 7 for Czechia.

I guess Czechia really fizzled out after the start, huh. Or did they begin defending their lead already?

Exactly. You have a good eye for the game.

Trochek/Miller/Saad are all better options than MacKinnon/Drouin/Gaudreau for McDavids style of play. This actually helps the team because it spreads the wealth out and lets the other guys have their own lines.

It's been good, I think lots of fans are learning a lot about these guys.

I'm super impressed with Scheifele, I liked him at the WHC but he's really standing out for me here.

Eichel has said he is working on his defensive game, and improved considerably the second half of last season. It's obvious he is doing the same during this tournament, which is fine by me. I'd rather he use this tournament as a learning tool, and also stay healthy.

They beat the worst team in the tournament. Twice. What significance does that have? None.

I'm not saying they suck. But you're massively overrating them, and seemingly based on their performance against a weak team.

100% agree, the hype was out of control based on 2 glorified pick up games, slowly they are coming back to earth

Think it's more NA adjusting and learning to attack differently.

With the young players involved they should have put this game in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, or Buffalo. It would have sold a lot more seats even if it is an afternoon game on a workday.

Seriously. Everyone keeps saying that yhe Czechs has the worst team in the WC, but their roster looks capable. With the right energy, team effort and strategy/tactic, they can cause problems for every single team. Perhaps not in a seven game playoff, but in one game they can surely perform to its maximum and even beat Canada.

Finland, Europe and Czechs are about on the same level, with the finns having the edge between the pipes.

How has the game looked so far, evenly matched?
