Selfish penalty by Mack down a goal at that time of the game. I would hope he would not do that if the game counted

McDavid 0 points in 3 games

Confirmed bust

You forgot the :sarcasm:.

We've seen this story before (Eichel scoring in his first game, McDavid starting slow). WHC this year, he goes on to be the Gold Medal game MVP and dominate the game.

He'll show up when it matters most. We'll revisit this when he takes over a game and just goes next level mode.

Slightly off topic but I'm pretty sure Patrick is considered to be a tier below.

And yeah, Matthews has also been improving rather consistently. He had several impressive plays and it's good that he got a goal as well.

Not that I think Button is always right but I think Button lumped him in with Matthews and McDavid. I don't know the exact quote cause I think there's a fourth. But you're probably right.

As for Matthews I had no question he was gonna be a good one. I guess I'm a little surprised he's this solid early on. I'm very interested to see how he handles the defense of the top tier teams in this tournament.

Impressive win by the Czech team, and just impressive run in the exhibitions so far considering expectations going into this. They're showing they're not the pushovers people predicted them to be.

Matthews looked great, and I'm convinced now that Parayko can't be kept out of the top six any more.

Well, won't sadly get much of that. Team Europe - Bad defense. Team Czechia - Bad defense. Then they are against Team Finland - Worst defense in the tournament and Team Russia - Bad defense. I guess they'll be tested against top defensemen in their final group match.

Czechia is an awful choice to name your country, I don't see what's wrong with Czech Republic. Czecho is better than Czechia.

Finland's defense is better than ours or Europe's...

Yeah I think Finland has a better team defense. Forwards helping out and supporting in their own zone quite a lot.

Eh, we have lots of good defensive forwards (Plekanec, Palát, Faksa, Frolík, Hanzal), the difference is really the blueline. Our best defenseman is Kempný, who is not anywhere close to Ristolainen. Then you have Maatta>>Nakládal and it gets only uglier from there

Fair enough, ps I think Plekanec, Palat and Hanzal all played great today in their own zone.

Good measuring stick game for NA. NA should have won IMO. They had more good chances and a couple of the goals against were pretty iffy.

I don't and neither do most people I know haha. It just sounds terrible and too similar to Chechnya (as if people weren't getting confused already...) and also to the Czech term for "Bohemia", which rubs me the wrong way too. And the word looks and sounds terrible too

Ah. I trust you know the right sort of people and so I will continue to use Czech Republic for my purposes too then. :)

The Kiddies played so soft around their own goal, they deserved to lose. Our D looked like they didn't wanna muss up their unis. Didn't seem to care when guys parked themselves in front of their nettie...lost the puck when they felt a slight breeze... Lost so many board battles...no those weren't board battles, that was TAKING CANDY FROM BABIES...At least Ekblad nailed a guy, and Matthews show gumption sticking up for McD

But in the main...oh my...SOFT AS BUTTER

After he thought Polak took a cheap shot against heart and soul Hendo.

Polak got out of the box and skated right into Nurse. Nurse beat his ass, and will again.

Hendo is POS what he did to Ekblad though. Way worse. I think Guds will beat him up again in VCR matchup. EDM Vs VCR could turn into bloodbaths must watch tv.

Ironically, there was a lot of hate between FLA and EDM. Kind of funny because we're not traditional rivals, it developed organically. If it carries over with VAN that works.

Hopefully the hate continues with FLA and EDM. Hockey is better with hate :yo:.

Guds literally chipped three teeth while fighting Hendo (not ONE punch Hendo landed , but from Guds gritting his teeth so tight prior to unleashing fury onto "Hendo" as you call him). Guds is one of those special fighters who fights well when pissed off. That was the angriest I've ever seen Guds. On Sportsnet feed just prior to puck dropping, you could see Hendo take a huge gulp when Guds entered the ice as last change... It was like a scene out of a gladiator movie with lion being inserted into the pit ha.

I think Guds will take out more fury on him. Bring on Lucic and rest too. Guds was one of my favs because the type of man he was on and off ice ,plays the game with ultimate respect. I like McCann in deal , but will miss Guds.

It shall be fun to see especially for me with no team in the contest :yo:

I was one of the few who said VAN got tougher to play against after that trade. I like him, I was a stay at home D man in my playing days. I certainly appreciate the role he plays :).
