That's not the mindset of these guys, or any other gifted athlete. They want to play. No one likes being a viewer.

I beg to differ, watch Joe Hicketts interview guy was ecstatic he made the team.

Everyone wants to play sure, but winning is more important than Time On Ice.

I don't care if you're Martian - not sure why you're dragging up nationality. But Domi was chopped down. Then he chopped that swede - sure.

True story.

You said take your blinders off, implying I was being a homer for Sweden (my profile looks Swedish).

Good game overall but I'd like to see more from some of the skill guys like Petan, Fabbri and Reinhart. Wasn't much chemistry between McD and Lazar imo.

Whatted Domi do?

He and #11 on Sweden were battling earlier in the shift...sorry not sure what that player's name is. Anyway, #11 blocked Domi from picking up his stick after wrenching it away from him. Domi's rage was fairly obvious, as he began skating at a little over 110% max output. As #11 got the puck and took it into the Canadian zone, he gave him an absolutely vicious two-hander on the upper arm/tricep/lower shoulder area. Didn't seem to faze the Swede but it was just a blatantly unnecessary penalty that any ref with functioning cognitive skills would call, particularly given the battle the two had during the shift.

Guy can score all the goals but you simply can't retaliate so egregiously and expect to get away with it...especially in an international tournament.

The thing is Domi should never have got the penalty because the play should have been whistled down about 15 seconds earlier when the Swede had both his hands pulling the Canadian player's stick right out of his hands. It was like they didn't want Canada to score again.

How did Duclair play?

Really well. Looks like an NHL player. He, Domi, McDavid, and Nylander were the best players on the ice tonight.

Who cares anymore? Meaningless exhibition game and Canada won 5-2. Calm down.

Obviously the top 6 was really good for Canada, the bottom 6 was pretty good too. They aren't always having chances like McDavid or Reinhart's line but they get time in the offensive zone, make smart plays and were pretty solid doing their job. I'm not worried about the bottom 6, when they were on the ice they weren't liabilities. In a tournament like this, it's not like the NHL where you need production from all your lines, you just need your bottom 6 to be okay and hopefully score but not let in any chances more importantly.

The defence was solid IMO sometimes they were struggling in their own zone but that was like the first 10 minutes of the 2nd. In the 1st and 3rd they were skating well, kept the puck in the offensive zone with their pinches. They can spin off attackers with their great skating and they can attack at their own blue-line when the opposing team rushing and lay a big hit.

I thought the game was pretty dominant in Canada's favour.

Haha, McDavid's interview with Mark Masters was pretty funny. Both Lazar and McDavid snore and McDavid said "it's a race to who can go to sleep first otherwise you won't be able to fall asleep pretty fast."

See yall on the 26th
Not joining us for the 23rd against the Swiss?

Anyone got the boxscore? Can't find it online.

Well... This is the best we have looked going into the tournament since 2009(?). Even better than the Dream Team(?) of 2013 that never gelled and look awkward at the best of times.

Team is really fast and sharp.

For a first real game after the injury McDavid looked pretty good. Plenty of time to get better for the whole team, I'm really not afraid of anything here.

The team will get better with time. Just the McDavid's line will be much better on Friday than they were today. Would like to see some goals from Paul's and Gauthier's line, but thats about time imo.

Of course you would disagree  and we will see. Remember how great Jones was suppose to be???

Hey, whatever happened to Ryan Hartman?

Ryan Hartman? Yeah that's comparable.

Jones dominated this tournament two years ago. Nurse is no where near the offensive player Jones is.

I never said he was. It was a genuine question. Whatever happened to the guy?

Let's see in 10 years. On a top NHL team, Jones has 6(?) points - all assists in 31 games. Remember how great he was going to be? Remember how he was going to take the NHL by storm? Remember how he was going to be the American Bobby Orr?
