What’s everyone’s lineup when we get everyone back healthy?

I still like Biggio at the top of the order over Semien.

New Vladdy is the most ideal #3 hitter you can get... High on base, slugging, power, even has some improved speed, the only thing is Bichette is more of a free swinging contact hitter rather then the patient and walking type so I think I like Bichette behind Gurrerro (have the higher on base guy ahead of Bichette). Maybe Vladdy 2, Springer #3. Get the better hitter (Vladdy) more at bats in the 2 hole. I’m also good with 1. Biggio 2. Springer 3. Gurrerro but I’d have it as this:

1. Biggio
2. Gurrerro Jr.
3. Springer
4. Bichette
5. Hernandez
6. Gurriel
7. Tellez
8. Kirk
9. Semien

That should be a potent lineup in any order.

Springer

Vladdy
Hernandez
Semien
Gurriel
Tellez/Grichuk
Kirk
Biggio

This assumes Semien gets going if not I'd put him 7th.

I believe Montoyo already said that Springer would lead off. It's what he did in Houston.

I'd go:

Springer
Bichette
Guerrero Jr
Hernandez
Semien
Guerriel
Biggio
Tellez
Kirk

Really the first 3 would be set in stone and you rejigger the other 6 as necessary.

Springer will be a great lead off hitter but if Biggio builds on his .375 OBP % from last year or even improves on it I'd like to have him getting on base with his 110 walk pace per season ahead of all the power of Springer, Bichette, Teoscar etc. He seems comfortable in the lead off spot too but so does Springer obviously.

For the 1 and 2 spot I want my two best on base guys. I like Vlad in the 2 spot, a lot of teams have their best hitter #2 now and Vlad actually has decent speed for what that's worth. I could see Vladdy and Biggio having a combined OBP % close to .400. Biggio around .360-.380 and Vlad closer to .400-.430 while Bichette and Springer could be closer to .350. So if Biggio continues his ridiculous on base numbers I want him leading off but If Biggio regresses I like Springer #1.

1) Biggio - Best OBP % on the team over the last 2 years.
2) Gurrerro - Best OBP % currently and best hitter.
3) Springer - Probably the best pure power hitter on the team. 50 hr pace per 162 over last 2 years.
4) Bichette - Third best hitter on team behind George and Vlad. More of a power and contact guy more then a lead off guy.
5) Hernandez - Ridiculous power.
6) Gurriel Jr. - Good contact hitter. Good for clearing the bases.
7) Tellez - Lefty power
8) Semien - More power
9) Kirk

Split up the lefties at the bottom and I'm completely on board.

I still maintain that the best lineup for us to have is one that we will be able to turn over the lineup more often with the lower half of our lineup getting on base. With that said my batting order would accomplish that with ability to have Springer hitting more with men on base.

1. Springer CF
2. Bichette SS
3. Guerrero 1B
4. Hernandez RF
5. Gurriel Jr LF
6. Grichuk\Tellez DH
7. Jansen/Kirk C
8. Semien 2B
9. Biggio 3B

The bottom of the lineup is just as key as the top of the lineup. Have capable threats from the 8th spot wrapped around to the 6th spot is the way to go. Biggio will draw walks and get on base. Semien in the 8th spot puts him in a postion to drive runs in and be more selective and patient. I think hes pressing too much in the lead off spot. Plus you have above average speed both at the bottom and top of the lineup.

This is how the lineup should be.

This but with Semien at 6.

the most promising stat about this whole start has to be that we have the best team era in the al and 6th in the league. now if only our team can get out of the bottom third in hitting. according to mlb.com that is

Looking for a bit of help friends. I've got Sportsnet NOW as a streaming source for watching games, but can anyone recommend a streaming source for just listening?

The Sportsnet app has a listen feature but always says the games are backed out. Want to be able to listen out in my shop when I can't watch.

Not sure what this useless batting coach has done to warrant not being shit canned at this point. The hitters look like Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne at the plate. Completely unprepared and completely lost. It’s early but this is getting out of hand now. Getting 4 hits nearly every game isn’t going to get us wins, especially when we have to throw Stripling or some other twat out there. We can’t expect Ryu, Matz and Ray to be dominant every outing. Jansen is f***ing horrible with the bat. Gurriel seems like he’s having fun, maybe he should be benched for a while and see if he’s still smiling. Hey Biggio, swing once in a while and try to make contact. And Montoyo, f*** off. Ya I’m mad. This is brutal baseball these guys have been playing. All position players besides Vladdy and Bo should be absolutely embarrassed of how shitty they’ve been. Springer is probably wondering what the f*** he got himself into. And as much as I like Atkins, get a real 3B, get a legit number 2 starter and get a manager who’s got balls to call out his team and raise a little hell.

The one thing it look Alex Anthopoulos some time to realize was that you never compromise on defense.

Our defense is below average. We are losing games as a result. It's that simple. I know Bichette is young and needs to grow into it and while he does that, we almost need to be perfect to win.

On the issue with the offence, it seems the last few years the Jays offence starts slow. I know they are missing Springer and Teo but players that should be hitting well, aren’t.

It makes me wonder maybe the hitting coach might be a problem.

Teoscar, Gurriel, and Rowdy all having major breakouts last year should count for something. It was a shortened season, sure, but... we're three weeks into this one.

They all have the ability. It’s the approach I’m seeing this year. Seems like the only hitter who actually looks prepared is Vladdy. Bo is hitting because of his uncanny god given abilities. But the preparation looks god awful. I can’t remember seeing this many fastballs down the pipe just being stared at.

Yep, most of them look really bad this year. But it's been three weeks, so I'm not convinced that A) this is who they are now, or B) it's the hitting coach's fault.

I think they're just off.

First three weeks last year - 94 wRC+
Rest of the way - 110 wRC+

First three weeks of 2019 - 70 wRC+
Rest of the way - 94 wRC+

2019 is hard to really judge because the calibre of players they had to work with was so, so much worse for the first few weeks, but that's the extent of Martinez's sample as a hitting coach. If this is a trend that the hitting coach has something to do with, whether due to poor preparation or whatever, then he should be looking to make some adjustments. But firing him because his teams start off slow offensively, even though they've done well overall and a handful of players have blossomed (or at least met expectations) in his short time with the team, would just be silly.
