Is it just me or has Toronto put together one of the better young batting lineups in all of baseball?

And they are missing Springer and Hernandez. I like the depth the Jays have assembled as well with position players. Espinal/Davis/Palacios have all filled in nicely and have played good defense.

Hopefully, they can get Pearson, Hatch, and Romano back soon.

Pearson is someone i keep forgetting about. someone i'm really excited for but the injuries are a concern.

Well the Rockies are very bad. With Merryweather possibly out long term along with the other BP injuries we have, maybe give them a call about Bard and/or Givens?

Givens won't get much at the deadline, maybe they give them a bit more than his value would suggest to pry him away in April.

Eh even with the injuries our bullpen has been one of the best in baseball so far. Not a pressing issue as things stand right now.

I would assume Pearson would need more time to get ready because he missed most of Spring Training.

Getting Romano and Chatwood back would help the bullpen a lot.

Of the 26 guys who should have been on the Jays opening day roster 11 of them have already spent time on the IL. That has to be a record this early in the year. 2 of them were short Covid IL stints but still.

Ray, Pearson, Stripling, Yates, Romano, Merryweather, Chatwood, Springer, Hernandez, Gurriel Jr, Borucki.

Biggio also missing some games but not on any IL.

It’s the trade deadline and the Cubs come to you and offer;

Hendricks
Contreras
Bryant

for

Biggio
Jansen
Kay

would you do it?

The only semi-good argument against this is that Bryant might revert back to his 2020 season but we'd know that by the deadline so... if not then definitely pull the trigger on this.

Biggio is at risk of getting forced out anyway within the next couple years because Groshans, Martin, Lopez, and the possibility of getting one of the big fish shortstops. Like we're so strong in the infield, I can't fathom saying no to this if Bryant is back to form, which it looks like he is. He's a career .900 OPS player outside of last season and we have the money to resign him. Willson Contreras has had a wRC+ above 100 every season of his career, has another year on his deal, and they can resign him or replace him with their deep catching pipeline. Lastly, Hendricks is the #2 we desperately need.

I get that this board loves Danny Jansen and believes that eventually he'll break out but if Bryant is back to being Bryant then this is an absurd trade to say no to. We have Kirk, Moreno, and Adams, if they all bust? Re-sign Contreras.

From the Cubs it's a hard pass. Cub have a good prospect at the C position. Biggio is ok and Kay might be a good back of the rotation started but each Cub will bring back decent value come the trade deadline. Hendricks and Contreras are not rentals so that adds value.

That’s an easy yes. You just won’t get a yes from most here cause they’d have to admit they were horribly wrong about Bryant

The only silver lining is that we are just at the start of our contention window. Add in SWR and Manoah next year, and we are really in a position to make a multi year run.
